No! Trek is way better than Star Wars.
*Chris get's up, becomes a Dark Jedi and attacks Master Yoda*
btw: Star Wars: The New Order is in develop. A new RPG for anyone who wants to join in the fun as a Jedi or any one else. The time period takes place just as the New Jedi Order takes place. I will release the site when the forums are done.
STAR TREK IS BETTER
Well said Vorak!
I totally agree!
Too true
In my opinion..............
Star Trek PWNS star wars lol, I have prefered star trek since I was a wee one lol It was close with Battlestar Galactica haha
VIVA LA STARTREK!!
I think we all agree there
I don't think it is but that's just me
Yeah. I think that Star Trek is slightly better then Star Wars. Probably because there are series and movies so there's a lot more of Trek.
Now that you mention it:::
STARGATE IS THE BEST! COME ON STARGATE!
I'll take the neutral ground. Neither Star Wars or Star Trek!
A hunch
Star Trek and Star Wars are fundamentally different from each other, based on another concept, and it's really hard for me to decide which one is better. I don't think one is better than the other, just different.
Ok, Star Wars is more based on a fantasy universe, while Star Trek profiles itself as a "possible future of mankind". The noble thoughts behind Star Trek are familiar to you all, I'm sure, so I don't need to get into those, but Star Wars has alot to offer too.
Now with Star Wars you have to see beyond the spectacular special effects and sometimes incredible technology. The "Jedi concept" for example, is very special, and actually based on existing historical culture. Their Council meeting in a circle, the Master/Apprentice tradition, certain of their mental abilities, can be found back in ancient religions and culture from the ancient West and East. It's just been given a new fancy name and adapted to the Star Wars universe.
Also the whole concept of the "Dark Side" is rather well done, especially in the last movie (Revenge of the Sith) where Anakin is torn in two by both the Jedi and the Sith. Again, look beyond the whole technology and special effects, and think of it as if you were in the situation yourself, placing yourself in an everyday situation where you hear two sides of a story, and you don't know which one to choose. Will you know you choose the right one? Because what may seem the good choice, may end up being the evil one. And you may not know until it's too late. Alot of these Star Wars aspects can actually be found back in everyday life, just like each species from Star Trek actually represents a particular (good or bad) aspect of humanity (Klingons represent the warrior/fighter within, Ferengi our greed, Cardassians our arrogance, Betazoids our sensitivity, ...)
World peace is an "utopia" that can never be achieved. In nature - and nature is everything in the universe - there is a fine Balance between positive and negative. Both forces are needed in equal amount in order to keep this Balance in harmony... and yes, the same aspect of Balance is also mentioned by the Jedi in Star Wars, although the concept itself is much older than Star Wars.
World peace, ironically as it may sound, would actually disturb this Balance too greatly and only chaos would be the result in the end.
All Sci-fi is good though.

In all the opinions I read, Vorak is the closest that I will agree too since World Peace will never happen. I wish there will be peace but I know it will never happen.
I'm not, and never have been a Star Wars fan
So I'd say No!
Yes!
"Not sure if I should answer this verbally"
*In the background, Chris is seen polishing his double duel lightsaber"
btw: Stargate is now on Season 10, being the longest tv series of scifi to run since X Files.
What makes you say that?
same with me. I do like Star Wars, dont get me wrong, but there is more of Star Trek and, like Hobson, I've been interested in it since I was very young (I was about 7/8)
True. Humanity could still be fighting between each other. If we dont get world peace before we invent some sort of extended travel spacecraft, we would probably still be fighting between each other, in space.
Realistically, despite the fact that i am primarily idealistic, there will never be world peace. Its impossible...
Sad, but true...
True. It's a shame though
You were a wee one!?
*falls over dead*
the first trek i ever saw was riker beaming down to an alien planet over lookng a desolite valley, from then on i knew i was a fanatic. at first it was only TNG then DS9 then Enterprise then Voyager and somewhere along the line TOS.
i like star trek because they ( Gene Roddenberry and writers ) didn't always resort to fighting to solve their problems.
also some of the technology is probable, and the stuff that isn't is explaned and by their time seems at least possible.
I don't know. Maybe they are both the same
*notices*
*yoda voice*
"Hmmm, lead to the dark side it will."
IM not sure. I have read alot of Trek Vs. Wars papers, all of which sayin wars i better than Trek, but we have to consider some of the finer points-Star Trek is based upon human beings whom originated from earth, using plausible technology. Whereas Star Wars is totally blasted out of all proportion.
You would need an Omega-based power source to power the star destroyers as ech blast from a turbolaser is between 500,000 Gw to 1,000,000 Gw.
However the Goa'uld from Stargate are much more plausible race. For example they have symbionts, similiar to those of the Trill.
On a last note, I believe the reason for the success of Star Wars is because the characters are 'rebellious'. It is similar to that of Terrans sea-faring days, it is like a giant free for all. This, I believe is the reason why Star Wars was a igger hit than Star Trek.
Although, Dont get me wrong, I am still a firm Trek fan
.
Therefore, I answer this poll:
No, Star trek is Better than Star Wars
Also, I get the feeling that there are some X-Files fans here too........
Ryan out
5 Series' and 10 Movies on Trek (from a quick count if that is wrong). More material.
I never got into Star Wars really though, I am not really much of a Sci-Fi fan other than Trek, I just got drawn into Star Trek at a young age so I've stayed interested in it all this time.
Thats not to say that years in the future (and i mean 'years'
that we couldn't have a universe thats some what like the SW universe...
(W/o the imperials though
)
Yeah, that is true. There will always be some people that upset it for the rest. It's OK to dream though.
Erm...My brain hopped, skipped, and jumped as i was reading what you were saying there David...
I think i need to go lay down... :S
lol
Trek all the way. But thats just my opinion. I understand that they are totally different.
