Dalon, if they get any closer to the probes that Species 8472 left back here, they will probably be attack. That should open their formation and give us Space to go to warp. I am transfering energy to engines *taps something on his consele* so set a course from out of this system at warp 8.7, passing as close as possible to the area caught by the subspacewave. If all their ships tries to follow us some of them might enter that area and they won´t be able to go to warp speed.
Brooks, raise shields and prepare wepons. If the probes do no open the space we need to get out of here we will have to open our way ourselves!

Captain, our ETA is now 30 minutes. The navigotional sensors show a small subspace rift straight ahead. It is logical to assume the it is the gate to the fluidic space. No ship detected so far, though the nav sensors are less accurate than the tactical and science ones at this range.

*Activates red alert and the bridge turns dark*
Standing by.
Elspeth punched in the course and the warp speed into the console.
"Course layed in, Captain," she reported, "Engaging. Now."
And with just one more punch into the console, the Evolution warped into space on it's destination.
" Lt. Commander Lagos to Captain Sanchez. Sir, this is that reported you asked:
The warps nacelles are working out of the approprieted sincrony. The magnetic constrictors are not set in the desirable strenght. If the ship keeps working like this
it would cause micro fractures in the dilithium matrix, that would make the need to replace it much sooner. Luckly all this can be corrected while we are still at warp, but I got to ask you, how long we have been without a chief engineer? There are minor situations down here that will need my attention untill late at the night, altought it could also wait if some emergency need my presence. I shall give you another report as soon it is all finished.

*Another shot from the loxian ship hits the Evolution*
"Forget the Hail! Return fire at once! Full spread quantum torpedoes! Load phaser banks! Try to disable their ship! How many are attacking us?"
The repair team is underhanded and we require more engineers to assist us. Please assemble another repair team and have them report to the Ops Center.

"Dr. Chemia, Dr. Keilah. How are things going here? Anything new to report? All information we could get now might be very valuable as we are to meet them in less than an hour from now."
The Loxian ships move closer to the Evolution and open fire heavily. The ship shudders and rocks, shaking all over and many computer panels exploding on the bridge, in engineering and many other sections. The red alert claxons are blazing. Sanchez is still in his captain's chair, holding tight onto it.
"Return fire at once! Full spread quantum torpedoes! Load phaser banks!"
But before the order can be carried out, the ship is taken under fire again and shakes heavily. Sanchez falls from his chair, bumping his head against a panel that explodes in the attack. He is thrown back by the force of the explosion and heavily falls on the ground, his face all over with blood. He tries to open his eyes, and sees a blurry vision of the bridge, filled with smoke, and Zephram Lagos hurrying toward him. He tries to speak with the last strengths he feels he has.
"It was... a mistake to... come here... but there is... no way... back... now... Mr. Lagos... you have... the bridge... take care of my ship..."
And he closes his eyes and loses his consciousness.
OFF: good luck with the mission and see you in june

Anyway, should be pointed out that this is not a war ship in essence, altouhgt we have ways to defend ourselves. And if we encounter a force that is stronger than our capabilities we should retreat, unless there is a very strong reson for we to stay and fight."

We may consider the possibility that the Loxians are simply bluffing. It would be illogical to move a large fleet into enemy territory when one has no information about it's defenses, even for a territorial and emotional specias as the Loxians.
OFF: Vulcan for "pretty buttons"
"Come in Lieutenant. I requested a tactical officer to help me anylise the damage Species 8472 weapons caused on Neelix´s ship. So far I came with almost nothing diffrent than the data Voyager already provided. The problem is, they had how to create borg nano implants in the photon torpedoes as a weapon, witch we can not do. The only thing I realized is that their wepons might cause a subspace distortion, and if we could find the frequency of that distortion we might set our shields to compensate in the same frequency, making than much more efficient. What do you think Lieutenant?"
"Mister Dalon, those modifications are already taking too much energy. But I never said it would be eficient against an entire fleet of species 8472. Try less enemy ships, and new stretegy, because with the data we have avaiable there is not much I can do to improve efficiency. However the information provided by the simulation will increase both shields and engines responce. But, if you are going to use the Picard maneuvre more than twice you will blow my engines anyway! And if you don´t mind me saying, out of the record, it was a quite emotional simulation for a vulcan, Lieutenant!"
=A=Lt. Commander Lagos out=A=
*works some minutes*
Apperantly it is a territorial struggle. The Loxians detected the presence of alien activity in this system that they consider theirs. A Loxian ship was sent to attack the invaders and was destroyed (the debris we found). This one was crippled by a Species 8472 probe. They are saying some insults to one another. Sir, the Loxian Ship has just threated Species 8472, saying that a fleet of ships are being moved to this systems to defend it. Mr Dalon, does long range navegational sensors confirm this?
Indeed, Mr. Lagos, we have faced more than one ship. But it was logical to let the computer simulate a rendom number of them, since we do not know what we will encounter at the gate.
About the emotional responses of the holographic crew, I tried to reproduce as best as I could the usual human response under stressful situations.
The response of a vulcan crew would have been different, but simulating their personalities was essential to help Mr. Brooks, as youhumas say, "get into" the simulation. And for me it was important to simulate all the types of possible distractions.
Oh, and rest assured. I will not "blow up" your engines, Mr. Lagos. It was just the logical response to that threat.
=A Dalon out =A=
Computer, begin simulation. Use only one enemy ship.
*Before Keilah could finish his sentence one of the consoles began to beep*

"Well, I don't feel like helping the Loxians, they are too aggressive to my opinion, and we are here after all on a peaceful investigation around Species 8472. The Prime Directive also tells us we should stay out of such situations, but then again... we don't know why they want the Loxians to surrender. Who was the aggressor in the first place? Mr. Lagos, can you tap into their communications and translate their conversations? Then perhaps we can find out what goes on."
*Steps aside from his console to let Taurik in*

"Geeez, what has happened to this man. His organs are totally whacked. Computer display the Talaxian autonomy on the mainscreen...."

Mr Brooks, this is what I want you to do. Prepare another subspace beacon and integrate it on a warhead of a photonic torpedo. I will programe the beacon to emite the same warp frequency that a Loxian Ship. So it will attract the probes. Program the torpedo to explode near a Loxian ship, so the probes change the target to that ship. I think we will have the space we need to get out of here with that. We might have to finish the job, opening our way with our weapons so after my order to fire the beacon you can fire at will to open it. You too mr Dalon can proceed to warp whenever you think you have a secure space.

*the ship moves towards the border of the sector*
Sir, the Loxians are dropping out of warp. The readings indicate that four of the ships are of the same class of the one that was negotiating with species 8472. The other one seems to be a fighter carrier, due to the many smaller and independent power sources I am reading inside the ship.
*pauses for a moment*
Sir, the readings may also correspond to that of very dangerous and powerful fusion devices, that are mostly used as bombs. It is logical to assume that the Loxians are willing to bombard and raze the planets of this sector if they cannot expel species 8472 from them.
Sir, the planet we first encountered had more than 10 billion scentient life forms...
"Very well. Mr. Lagos, you have the bridge. I will be beaming over for a debriefing, and when I get back I'll let you all know where we are heading to next."

Captain, I don't think we should engage in hostilities with the Loxians. Is there a way we can draw them off?
AHA!
If we invert our warp field to match the frequency of a Species 8472 ship, they may be frightened off. Also, that may give us a window of safety to travel closer to the planet to study what 8472 is doing there.
OFF: before we have retreated the Loxian ships should arrive, and think we are involved too, and that we are trying to flee, and attack us. That is when Sanchez will get injured and unconscious. Im leaving for holidays in a few days now...
"Captain, everything is ready in engineering," he told Sanchez.

"Captain Sanchez, altought the computer has narrowed the possibilities of the warp signature to be Loxian, Thalaxian or Cardassian, I don´t belive it is Cardassian. Their warp signature does not displayed that kind of signal since they stoped using an ionized antimatter constrictor, more than 30 years ago. If it is Cardassian, it is really old, and might not be a ship of the Cardassian Union. The other two kinds, I cannot give you a proper analysis with the information avaiable."
We are go, sir.
"Well Commander, if I may ask. There was this doctor aboard who was working on a cure of the Specie 8472, those cruel beasts. I've already lost one man, I would like to have an antidote ready for any further attack on my people...."
"Everyone, a moment of your time please. We received new orders from Starfleet. You may know personally, or you may have read it in Starfleet's News, about Neelix, the Federation ambassador in the Delta Quadrant.
Well, we are given the coordinates of his location, because we need to go pay him a visit. There is something important he needs to talk about, I heard, and it's too dangerous to discuss over comm transmission. So you could say this is a mission we have no clue of what we're getting ourselves into.
All stations please report.

OFF: It looks like it, doesn't it?
Captain, our ETA is now 15 minutes and the nav sensors show one reading that might be a ship, near the fluidic gate. Perhaps Mr. Brooks can give you further detail with the tactical sensors.
*some seconds later the console beeps*
I am getting another reading now. Many widely spread readings, in fact. It is logical to assume, using the data Mr. Lagos provided, that it is the debris of a ship.
The remnant warp signature of the debris is rather difficult to identify, but the computer has narrowed down the possibilities to a Loxian, Thalaxian or Cardassian vessel. Once more, Mr. Brooks or Mr. Lagos might give you further details.
Captain, might I ask what is Loxian? The computer has data about it's warp signatures, but I am not familiar with that term.
(Edited by Dalon at 9:56 pm on April 4, 2003)
"You asked for me captain? Sorry it took me so long, I was just helping the cook at your messhall how to make Plomeek soup! So, how can I help..." then he sees the viewscreen, the debris and in the far distance the fluidic gate.
"Uh oh... that's no good. Loxians... I know them too, very dangerous. And when a Loxian ship is destroyed, others always return to avenge the death.
Also, captain, you don't see any activity of Species 8472 right now, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. You'll see, as soon as Loxians arrive here, Species 8472 will come out of nowhere and you'll be finding yourself in the middle of a battle!"
At that moment, the panel of Mr. Dalon beeps to indicate the Loxian ship has arrived and is dropping out of warp.
*Takes his position at the ops station*
"Sir, damage is repairable, though there is a hole in the port side of the ship, repair crews have been alerted to it"
Silm couldn't believe the damage that the Evolution had taken, though she seemed to be in one piece. He had never seen Nelix before and was amused that the tales he had heard were... rather true. He smiled as he monitored the ships status.
Thank you Keilah... as for Marou you properly have the most experience in that field so far since I know nothing of Loxian science, I will start to review the medical logs so I can get up to date.
*Turns her attain back to the computer*
"Interesting indeed Keilah, I haven't been in this quadrant before so my knowledge of this is very limited. Keilah I want you to look into this and provide me with an answer so I can report to the captain, Ill have a look at the other wounded."
*leaves the shuttle bay, and goes to the Captain´s ready room, passing in the bridge*
"So, this is the bridge..."
*Waits in the ready room door until have permition to enter*
"Captain Sanchez, I am here as ordered to inform you of our plans. Sir, our attempt is to use the main deflector dish to create a subspace distortion that would enhance our shields capabilitys and might boost our weapons, if used against the Species 8472. I thought we would need more time, but Lieutenant Brooks is already performing to modify the weapons and shields, and I am on my way to modify the main deflector to emit the distortions. If we start now, I belive we would be ready within the hour."
=A= Dalon to Captain Sanchez =A=
Captain, I believe that me and Mr. Brooks are fit for most hostile encounters now, sir. Ou rate of survival was of 86.3% if we face just one ship and 68.3% if we face more ships. This clearly indicates that should we engage more than one ship, we should escape imediately and ask for reinforcements, though, as Lt. Commander Lagos said earlier, we may not need to fight them.
Also, the data provided by the simulations helped Mr. Lagos improving and correcting his calculations and adjusts for the shields and engines.
Should I sotp the simulation or continue with it, sir?
Captain, this may have just gotten worse. Dalon says that signature may be Loxian! I suggest Red Alert!
The Loxians are now 5 minutes away, sir.
The deflector dish has been succesfully configured, sir. I am ready to start the procedure as soon as Species 8472 begins passing through the Gate.
*the viewscreen shows the heavily damaged station*
Reading damage to almost every deck, sir.
Mr. Reeves, would you run a station-wide diagnostic on the tactical systems of Starbase Avalon? The systems are too large to scan with my tricorder. Please reroute the results to my tricorder.

The second planet on this system seems to be inhabited. It is only 300 thousand kilometers away(OFF: That's more or less 100 times the distance between Earth and the Moon), bearing 005.3 mark 1.
The debris field is closer to us. 10 million kilometers away bearing 258.6 mark 2.
There are mild gravimetric waves emanating from the star. Their frequency seems to be in ressonance with the gate's. This strengthens Lt. Lagos's hypothesis about the location of the gate.
The gravimetric waves emmited by the star seem to enhance the singularity and stabilize it, sir.

"Mr. Tier, if you have any findings please report them to me. This area is not my speciallity, and I can not make any suggestions on how to effect Species 8472 biologicly or with chemicals, but if you have any theories we could find a way to conjugate any of this elements with our weapons."

" Level 3 diagnostic on the primary plasma coil completed "
Zephram: " Very good. Display the results on this station"

"Hmm," he thinks to himself, "a virus that isn't visible from the outside, but destroys a body from the inside. That indicates one thing: Species 8472 is acting hostile. Now, I can see my purpose here clearly, I know now why we are truly here... it's our job to find out WHY Species 8472 acts so violent. Only THEN, we can do something about it."
He concludes his pondering and touches his combadge.
=^= Sanchez to bridge, hang on I'm on my way to the bridge again =^=
He walks out of sickbay and gets into the turbolift to head back to the bridge, where he arrives some moments later.
"Report. So you believe that there has been some firepower in use near the Fluidic Gate?"
"Mr. Dalon, it seems that our science officers are not with us. Permission granted to reroute the science station to your console. Make as many scans as possible on this fluidic gate, the more we know about it the better. Perhaps the reason that this gate is constant and not temporal, may be because it is not artificially created by Species 8472 or another race, but it naturally existed already. It's just a possibility. And thoes class M planets... perhaps humanoid life forms are brought there for tests or whatever, and most humanoid life forms, except Species 8472, do need a class M environment, after all.
Bring the ship closer, slowly, and keep checking if any other activity is around. Let's start with scanning those Class M planets."
"Sorry Sir, but there are at least 20 wounded on several decks and ofcourse I was at the lowest deck..."
*He takes a look at the captain and grabes his medical tricorder*
"Aww d*mn....I got to get him directly to sickbay. Are the transporters still working Lieutenant?"
*looks at the screen that has just turned on*
Species 8472, We have found a way to close the Fluidic Gate, but we need that a ship pass through it. Evacuate your personal from the planet and get back to your space. I am sending the data about this procedure, so you know what do to.
*sends the data*
*works sometime under a consele*
That should do it. I belive we should keep going to the point we met with Neelix, so he and his party could go back home. After that we proceed to Avalon Station as fast as possible so we can have repairs and better conditions to treat our woundeds.

Ambassador, I have transferred all information to your vessel. There are still some unsolved problems, but the fact is that your people is not in immediate danger. The research will probably go on at your own station.
I wish you a safe journey ambassador.
=A= Keilah out =A=
"Goodday captain, how are you feeling today...no pain in the head or maybe some stomachproblems?"
*Grabes a medical tricorder*
"Yes, Yes well I see your internal bleedings have healed so that's one thing not to worry about anymore"
*Suddenly one of his other patients begins to scream*
"Ow wait a minute captain...need to take care of that man"
*The doc rushes over to the Lieutenant who had severe plasma wounds*
"This annaprovaline will calm you down Lieutenant. Those plasma fires around engineering have really caused some wounds"
*returns from his ready room*
"Any news, crew?"
"Keil take over would you I really need some rest now, log your finds Ill will review them later."
Nalia heads towards her quaters on the lower decks.
After you, Dalon.
*taps commands on his console*
*the warp nacelles of the Evolution glow blue and it blurs foward, disappearing with a white flare and the typical boom*
Captain, our ETA is fifty minutes. The navigational sensors show nothing out of the ordinary.
=A= Keilah out =A=
*ten minutes later*
Captain, we are now on transporter range of the debris field. Would you like me to stop or proceed to the planet?
Perhaps, their computer core is still intact. If this were true then the ship's log would shed some light on this situation...
*taps commands on his console*
Sir, I am scanning the field searching for any sign of the computer core or other recording device...
*the computer beeps*
I have found what seems to be an emergency beacon on a Loxian frequency. It is comming from 031.4 mark 1 and it would be logical to assume that it is some sort of emergency recording device, much like those that Starfleet uses, sir.
*console beeps again*
Sir. There is a Loxian ship heading to this system on warp 5. It's ETA is 10 minutes. I am not completely sure, but it seems to be a small ship, equivalent in size to Starfleet's Defiant Class.
*turns to Brooks*
Lieutenant, prepare the subspace beacons, and keep your attention at the Loxians.
Both of you, let me know when you are ready.
*And with those words Neelix left the bridge and went straight to the shuttlebay*
(Edited by Neelix at 8:32 am on June 2, 2003)
Starbase Avalon is now twenty minutes away, sir. Detecting at least two massive gravity wells, sir. Though it appears to be illogical, the sensor readings match those of... *raises his left eyebrow* planets.
*When she left he went back to his console*
"d*mn....why is the computer taking all time with a Sample Scan. I wouldn't be that hard...."
*At that moment a lot of data came on his screen*
"Wow...what is this. Let's see. The DNA is not similar with the previous sample. How is that possible? It's from the same man! This isn't good, Tier could you take a look at this."
I have programed the computer to generate encounters with a random number of ships of also random configuration, based on extrapolations of the ships encounterd by Voyager. I believe this will provide us a wide spectra of data on our performance. *raises eyebrow in a Spockish way*
(Edited by Dalon at 12:05 pm on Mar. 26, 2003)
Well Lt. Brooks, I believe we should report to bridge. I must say it was fascinating to work with you. i had expected to see you responding more emotionally to the simulation. Perhaps you did not respond properly because you were already aware that the situation wasn't real.
I will look into it some time in the future.
Computer, end program.

*exits the holodeck and enters the turbolift*
Bridge.

Chemia nods smilingly to Keilah
"Yes Lt. Commander you did speak to fast for me, in this state anyway I am still a bit tired."
Nalia frowns slightly as her eyes scan threw the log reports.
"I think Ill turn in the report and give the captain an update, in the mean while you and Tier get that sleep... That's an order Keil"

Helm, if you look at the stellar map (click here: http://www.expansionfleet.com/starfleet/images/mapexpansion2.jpg ) you will see an area called the "Dark Passage". We are to travel beyond there, but I want to avoid the Dark Passage itself at all costs... bad memories...
So lay in a course to our destination coordinates, taking a course staying left from the Dark Passage as much as possible.
It will be good to meet Mr. Neelix again."
I was just trying to learn about the ship. I came as quick as I could when I heard about the mission.
I am the chief science officer so if there is anything you need, feel free to ask me. I will be at my post.

=A=Brooks out=A=
*Jogs up to the holodeck and sees Lieutenant Dalon waiting*
Sorry about the wait, Dalon. I had a bit of trouble configuring the phaser banks, but its all taken care of now.
That is inded a logical line of thought, Lt. Cmdr. Lagos. But it wouldn't explain the fact that the gate is orbiting the star very closely to the planet.
The Loxians do not seem capable to open such a gate, so the only logical answer is that species 8472 opened it. Being this the case, why would they open a gate near a Loxian colony?
Species 8472 does not seem to attack without provocation. They first attacked as a response to a Borg attack... Though they may have decided to begin a systematic extermination of life forms on our space and the location of their gate is just a coincidence, which would be an equally logical possibility.
"Darn they decided that firepower was better than a hail!"
*pauses for some seconds and then looks at the Captain again*
Captain, the singularity that lies at the heart of the gate is a point in which space is infinitely curved in itself. It is stable while at rest.
When the gate starts to open, though, a delicate balance of energy is required to maintain the singularity and elarge it enough to let a ship come through without making it collapse. During the opening phase, which I have been monitoring for some minutes now, the complex subspace field that surrounds the singularity, and that makes it stable and imprevious to any attack attempt, has become fragile in some points.
We could fire a coherent beam of gravitons from our deflector dish into one of the "holes" that appeared in the field and, if my claculations are correct, make the singulatity collapse in itself, sealing the gate, though it is logical to assume that soon another one would be opened.
It is important to say that the "holes" appear following a caothic pattern, so I can predict the location of the next "hole" just seconds before it opens and they stay open for a fraction of a second.
Also, this can only be attempted when the gate is opening or closing. If a ship comes through it, we will not be able to seal the gate until it enters this transitory state again, sir.
I have also detected some electro-magnetic traffic through the singularity, even before it started to "open". It is comming from the probes, so it is logical to assume that they are in continuous comunication with the fluidic space. There is a chance that the probes are disabled for the time the gate is sealed, enabling us to approach the planet safely. But this is only a hipothetic scenario, sir.
*computer beeps*
Sir. The probes are firing on the Loxian ship. I am detecting several power surges throughout the ship. Their warp core seems to be unstable, sir. I am relaying the data on the ship to Lt. Cmdr. Lagos' station.

(Edited by Dalon at 2:50 pm on April 24, 2003)
Hello everyone there, this is your captain speaking. Things seem a mess over here, it's a miracle the station hasnt fallen apart completely yet! But as your scanners probably saw, a huge ship from something called "The Corporation" has arrived and is setting a bunch of people to work into helping to repair the station.
But in this mess, the admirals are busy too and didn't get around to work out a new mission for our ship yet. So in the meantime, I suggest that some of us help out on repairs on the station. Mr. Lagos, could you gather together a "repair team" and beam over to station Avalon? But make sure there are people left to keep running the ship too Thank you.
=^= Sanchez out =^=
OFF: Those who will be on the repair team, please go to the "Station Avalon" board (Starfleet HQ board) and look for the forum "Station Ops". There you will find a topic "Repairing the station", in where you can post. Thank you

He sighs... the death rate was high. He would have to request new people from station Avalon, but the loss would still be grievious.
OFF: these are all characters that were idle and are beign replaced by people that actually want to post. This way these old character's ends fit in the storyline by being killed in battle.
"Hey I am Commander Nalia Chemia the newly appointed medical officer... you are?"
(PS-I'll be away for a few days.)
So i thought id start with 1 of the important places on board the ship, medical.
Id like you to tell me in your own words an thought's, how things r going in medical and what you need to perhaps improve how medicla works or anything else i may be able to help you with, also if you could by the end fo the week, gimme a detailed report on the Assistants you have working with you and how there performance is going.
Where all set sir
I will meet you there Lieutenant, as soon as I finish upgrading the weapons.
=A=Brooks out=A=
Should they follow a logical course of action, it seems unlikely thet we will face a hostile situation. However, the superior officers of the species 8472 might have decided that those talks are void and to attack us again.
In this case, since I have been trained as a science officer as well, might I recommend that, as soon as we encounter them and if none of them is to come aboard as a guest, the lighting parameters could be altered to a level that would couse them discomfort and perhaps blindness.
Their pupils seem to be inadequate to deal with a high level of ultra-violet radiation. This is both good and bad for us, since humans are also quite succeptible to this kind of radiation. Perhaps special glasses could be distributed to the crew. And doctor Chemia should administer a protective lotion, sice the UV radiation is known to affect human skin.
As to me and most of the non-human crew, I believe no prevention would be needed. Vulcan has no ozone layer and in result vulcans are highly resistant to that radiation, though it would be logical to tell the medical staff to see if there is any non-human crewmember that would require special care.
I hope that I have not been improper by suggesting this, Captain.
"Yes resume our previous course. Warp 4," he says then. "All stations, yellow alert."
*He thinks to himself "so it is about to begin now. Soon there will be no way back. Either we will come back from this mission with great accomplishments, or not at all. I hope I made the right decision to go meet them head on."*
*the ship darts towards the border of the sector in a series of fast moves and is now a bit farther from the Loxians*
Sir, one Loxian ship has broken formation and is closing on us.
I speak for Species 8472. This form I am "wearing" is that of part of the population of the inhabited planet of this System. Our readings indicates that you are from Federation. But we had information that Federation wasn´t at this quadrant of space, besides Voyager. What is your business here Federation?
*starts making calculations and the pauses and looks at Lagos*
Sir, I must say that there will be a risk for the ship that is going into the gate. If the energy configuration is not precise the ship may be destroyed instantly. Also, there is a very small possibility that the closing of the gate will cerate a subspace shockwave that might alter the Cochrane coefficient of this region and interfere with our warp capability, even rendering warp travel impossible in this area of space.
Thus, there might be implications for the development of the species that live in this system that should be considered, sir.
*Suddenly the link to Sickbay was broken and no communication was possible*

Captain, we are now 5 minutes from the system. No ships detected so far, though the activity of the gate is increasing exponentially.
Also, since the ships of species 8472 are made completely of organic material, their sensors may be a bit slower than ours. This way, if we use the Picard manouver we could get them confuse for a time long enough for us to strike at some vital point.
Also, I could use the time we stay on full stop to run some simulations of combat scenarios with Lt. Brooks on the holodeck, so that I can perform more efficiently on a real situation.
(Edited by Dalon at 2:38 pm on Mar. 24, 2003)
That would be a good idea, sir. In fact, we could also simulate the effectiveness of the changes that Mr. Lagos just implemented on our shields.
The fluidic gate is almost open, sir. I can already detect some faint signatures from whatever is comming through it, but I cannot be specific at the moment.
Mr Brooks, lets try to speed up the repairs.

Also non essencial equipament such as replicators and holodecks should be off line (after Mr Dalon and Mr Brooks simulation) until we are out of danger. In this padd is the list of the areas of the ship and equipaments I mentioned, for your aproval."
*gives the padd to Captain Sanchez*

Mr Dalon, do you think that if a ship passes the fluidic gate again you will be able to close it? If so, start prepering the procedure. Mister Brooks, keep an eye on sensors, I want to know if the Loxians regroups and try to attack us again!
"This is Admiral Montrell, we are currently under heavy attack at station Avalon. We need help immediatly, shields are down and the hull is beginning to breach. *turns to Lt. Cmdr. Lagos*
Indeed, Lt. Commander. It is logical to assume that this was a Loxian ship. I have taken the liberty to look up the term Loxian on the ship's database these last minutes and I am now aware of the meaning of the term.
The nav readings are inaltered, though we are beginning to get into the influence of the dimensional rift. I can no longer say if there are ships near the gate, but I can say that the gate seems to be on a solar system, class VI star.
*Lagos looks a bit nervous but is handling the pressure so far*
And that is supposed to make it sound better?
*tries to remain calm, and lower his voice*
What kind of mistake was that?
Stuart looked at the view screen and the heavy damage the station had sustained. It was a close shave and it was very lucky that the station had held together.

*taps commands on the console*
Captain, with the enhancement Lt. Lagos made to the nav sensors I can now see that there is a class M planet orbiting the star and both the debris and the fluidic gate are near it. Perhaps species 8472 decided to establish a colony there...
Sir, I'd like to say that am also qualified to serve as a science officer so, if the current officers do cannot report to bridge I could rerout the science sensors to my console.
All 8472s share the same thoughts when they are in fluidic space. This means now that they all have the same memories about encountering Voyager. This means that they should know who I am. I was going to suggest that a telepathic crewmember amplifiy me to the ship and allow me to talk to them. Its a little risky for me, but risk is part of the game.
*taps some commands at the Captains chair console*
D*mn, this console is to small for engineer functions! But i belive that that should do the trick mr Dalon.
"Well I will take him back to sickbay, if you need me you know were I am"

"Nurse, I want 30 cc of anyprovaline and clear a biobed! This man needs attention..."

*Dalon´s console indicates that the Species 8472 ship is beginig to enter the Fluidic Space*
Brooks, deploy the beacons. Dalon, begin the procedure.
Computer beeps as Taurik dematerializes
"Well I am still new to this ship, I think it would be better for you to show me the way"
"Mr. Odo, activate tractor beams, we will drag Neelix' ship into our shuttlebay. Be careful, it's not an easy procedure. Mr. Madison, report to the bridge asap to assist Mr. Odo.
Lt. Marou, prepare to assemble a team of technicians to start repairs on Neelix' ship right away.
Cmdr. Chemia, prepare sickbay to receive injured crewmembers. Report when ready.
All stations, blue alert. I repeat, blue alert."
"Very well, bring Neelix' ship slowly into the shuttle bay. Are repair teams standing by?"
Commander, I have finished the modifications on all defence systems and Im now starting the weapons.

*Hands over the logs*
"We discovered something rather strange with this man's DNA. It's changing every hour, I took 7 samples the last couple of hours and it seems he has been infected with some alien Virus. This Virus-RNA is not similar with that of Species 8472, after the first encounter. I looked it up in the medical records and found some interesting data.
It seems one of the crewmembers on the USS Voyager, by then name of Ensign Harry Kim, was infected with the Virus of specie 8472. The doctor onboard made a cure by using nanoprobes to infiltrate his bloodstream and those probes killed the virus.
This Talaxian man, has got some similar signs of the Virus, but he also has signs that are totaly different. The Ensign board Voyager was covered with a strange skin, which was produced by the Alien Virus.
The Talaxian man aboard, is totaly normal on the outside. But within he is certainly sick.
And what I was saying about the difference in the Virus RNA, this can be the work of Evolving. Species 8472 may be changing, due to the protal to our dimension. A serie of explanations is possible here...."
"I was also working on these samples to determine in what condition this man now is. Maybe we can help him, but then we have to find a different approach, cause we don't have nanoprobes to put in his bloodstream."
*Leaves his console and stands besides the Commander"
"I hope I wasn't to fast in my words...I sometimes go a little bit to fast..Ow and for I forget, the man has a sensor from sickbay in his neck. I thought this way we could monitor any strange reaction in his body."
The planet is evacuated. We are ready to proceed. But before doing so, we would like to thank you Federation. And we will let the biological probes orbiting the planet here, but they will die in two days, so you have help with the Loxians in case they come back at this time.

Well done Commander Lagos! We have little time, it's up to you now Dalon.
Captain, good to see you........ again. I know the commlink isn't that..... good, but thats because of the attack. .....Avalon is heavily .....damaged, would you please beam onto the station ....for debriefing. All dockingports are not working...one emergency hatch has to be free so. Until Soon Captain"

Science stations, please gather together all information you can find on Species 8472 and I expect a briefing in the Lounge over an hour.
*turns to Lagos*
Sir, should we broadcast an emergency distress call, asking for all ships avaliable to report to Avalon Station?
It would be logical to assume that whatever creature is attacking the Station has also disabled some communication relays, either by accident or on pourpose.
*The doc grabbed his tricorder and scanned the captain*
"Well, whenever the "O great one" is ready he can visit me in sickbay for another cure "
*The doc went back to sickbay to make the hypospray for the captain*
"Well kelith we better get back to sick bay, thanks for luanch"

Captain, while you were unconscious, we made contact with species 8472 and found out that they were attacking our space in an attmpet to drive the Loxians off their space. The gate was not created by species 8472 or anyone else. I was a natural phenomenon, as Lt. Cmdr. Lagos suspected.
Following this, Lt. Cmdr. Lagos convinced species 8472 to leave our space so that we could seal the gate while they were crossing it.
After that, we had a short skirmish with a Loxian fleet and returned to Avalon Station, for we received a distress call from them, saying that they were under attack.
The sensors indicated that there were planets close to the station, though this is, based on the data I have so far, illogical.
"Is it allright if I went to my quarters for a minute. I have a cat you know...and I haven't been in my quarters lately you see. I will be back ASAP to help in sickbay"
"Yes charge weapons and target! Hail them and tell them to cease fire immediately, or we will be forced to defend ourselves!"
"I am sorry but during the fight I hide myself in the messroom...it seems that it's still the place were I feel safe."
*He looked around on the bridge*
"And that this ship is still in one peace is a strange fact. But the reason why I am here is to ask what we are going to do now? And ofcourse if I can be of any assistance just say so"
OFF: Am I the only tactical officer on board? and is Lt. Commander Guldokut still around?
(Edited by Nick Brooks at 1:23 am on April 23, 2003)
It seems that engines weren´t much damaged by our encounters. Ambassador Neelix! I am Lt. Commander Lagos. Captain Sanchez left me in charge while he is recovering. Since the situation with the Species 8472 is apperantly over, would you like to return to the point we met with you to get back to your home?
*looks at the empty biobed*
"Well I be d*mned....I need the last scan. I won't let him do this...Nurse I will be at the bridge if you need me!"
*The doctor grabbed a medical tricorder and walked out of sickbay towards the bridge*
"Sure," he said as he looked back to Randall.
"Thats cool, I joined for a couple of reasons. Sure I wanted to explore the stars, but it's more than just that. I feel this is where I belong. I feel like I was supposed to be here my entire life. You know what I mean?" Johnathan said.
The waiter came back with the food and set it down infront of the two men then faced Alissa.
"What can I get ya?" the waiter asked.
Please head to the launch bay1 and escort the crew to the medical bay for checkup's please.

"Sir, apperantly they negotiating terms of surrender. Species 8472 asked us to wait and not to interfer. The Loxian ship is requesting assistence. They are heavily damaged and with their life support systems nearing a break down."
The sensors are no longer detecting any hostile activity, sir. It appears the whatever was atacking the station has left moments ago, sir.
Off: "sorry for being gone so long I had some computer problems."
=A= Keilah out =A=
OFF: a replacement should yet be found for communications. Until then, whoever posts first can handle it i guess
"All available ships, station avalon is under attack from unknown creature, say again, unknown creature has attacked starbase avalon. The stations sheilds are down and their hull is breaching"
Stuart sent the signal on all possible channels hoping that some sort of fleet could arrive to help the station.
OFF: So... where do I post that distress message? Other ships... and/or other divisions?
The tractor beam has been de-activated, Neelix's ship has landed safely.
I am also detecting several energy signatures comming from the planet near the gate... The logical interpretation is that the Loxian's attack has been detected and triggered a response from species 8472's sensor network.
*taps commands on the console. computer beeps*
Sir, the energy signatures are comming from an orbital network of organic probes. And the signatures match those of the weapons that destroyed the previous Loxian ship.
It is logical to assume that the probes are a defense system and that they were triggered either by the proximity of the Loxian ship, wich is closer to the planet than we are, or by it's weapons' fire.
Another thing corroborates with this conclusion, sir. There is a faint barionic trail that comes from a position close to the planet and ends at the debris field. As Lt. Cmdr. Lagos may confirm, a barionic trail is often the product of a leak of matter and anti-atter from a heavily damaged warp core.
(Edited by Dalon at 8:40 pm on April 23, 2003)
But before he can speak, he sees station Avalon on the viewscreen, to his surprise.
"What are we doing here at station Avalon? Where is the fluidic gate? And the Loxians? And Species 8472? Was I asleep for 20 years or so?"
Could you beam over some gel-packs and transfer cables to assist in the repairs?
=/\=Taurik out =/\=
(OFF: Nick, I am on Avalon.)
"All decks, red alert! Battle stations! Fire quantum torpedoes, spread fire!
Are they responding to our hails, Ms. Marou?"
"What... what happened? What am I doing here? Where is Species 8472 and the Loxians? We were in a fight with them... I need to get back to the bridge and try to talk to them..."
It appears that some massive object has deliberately collided with the station. I have also detected some debris that would be consistent with asteroid remains, though this sector has no asteroid belt on any star chart.
*pauses for a moment*
Sir, I am detecting a small shuttlecraft near the station. It is loaded with explosives. It seems that Admiral Nocturnus was trying to deliver a blow to the enemies at the cost of his own life.
*pauses*
The needs of many outweight the needs of few or one. A very logical decision...

"I've always been excited by going places that no one knows about. There was this one time, I climbed this mountian. There was this cave that wasn't on any maps. When I went in it, I found what looked like an old burial ground. Scared the crap out of me," Johnathan told Randall.
"Captain......what made you want to join Starfleet?" Johnathan asked.
Hmm... so Loxians have been here, and they were attacked and destroyed. From what I've seen from the Loxians so far, they are very aggressive and violent, I wouldn't be surprised that it was the Loxians who provoked Species 8472, and not the other way around.
Perhaps Mr. Neelix can tell us more.
Sanchez to Mr. Neelix, please report to the bridge."
Neelix over the intercom: On my way, captain!
"Thank you, Mr. Brooks. Try to hail them, tell them we are here on a peaceful mission, we have no intentions of any hostilities against anyone."
*sits on the captain's chair*
*takes a slirp from his whiskey and in the meantime says "enthousiastic, that's me"*
"What about you, why did you join?"
If we go on full impulse it will take some minutes to get there... Would you prefer to go to warp, Captain?
OFF: Sorry if I stepped over anyone, I just thought we needed to keep things moving.
Dalon, would you assist me at the rapair team? Mr Brooks, you have the bridge.

*turns to Schmidt*
Sir, the Vulcan mind meld can be disturbing for some humans and I understand if you refuse it, though most humans who have experienced the meld found it quite... relaxing.
*taps his console fastly*
Sir, based on their current speed and heading, I was able to predict a breach in the Loxian barricade. I am readjusting our heading to use the breach, sir.
*taps his console again. the viewscreen shows the Loxian ships moving as Dalon predicted and the breach appears. the Evolution passes through it before the Loxians can realize what happened.*
Going to warp, sir.
*Walks towards the turbolift*
"So what's this all with station Avalon....some alien attack I heared, but who can do such damage to us?"
-----------------
OFF: The captain left Commander Lagos in command....I think.
I will use the meduim range sensors to scan the debris and confirm it's identity.
*works on the console for a while*
Sir, the ship was indeed Loxian, and must have been attacked no more than a week ago. There are no survivors. Readings indicate it exploded due to a warp core breach.
Also, I do not believe the Captain left someone in command, though we have plenty of Lt. Commanders that are able to do so.

Sir, it seems that your assumptions were right. There are indeed some five hundred members of species 8472 on the planet. They have established their presence on every major political unit of the planet.
The computer fineshed scanning their communications and computer network and found some fascinating data.
First of all, there are two sentient and technologically advanced species on this planet, that call themselves Mordal and Tel'knat. They do not seem hostile toward each other and there are some political units composed of a mixed species population. Their most advanced political unit is a matriarchal monarchy of Tel'knats. The planet is called Urm'gol by all it's inhabitants.
This monarchy has detected and documented the formation of the gate one and a half years ago. They had a probe monitoring the other class M planet of this system and sent it to the gate but it was lost into it. The data they collected is indeed quite impressive for their technological level... I'll use it to update our databanks and study it later, if our science officers don not show sir.
If they continue their research, it is likely that they will be capable of warp travel in two or three decades.
Their data on the other planet, which they call Urlat, is scarce, but they haven't found any signs of intelligent life there, just plants and insects.
No records have been found on species 8472, perhaps because of their agents operating on the planet.
The spacies 8472's probe is on a geosynchronous orbit over this political unit, named Marsili by it's population, and sends data to what appears to be an underwater base, located near the south polar cap. I cannot scan the base without risking being discovered. inf fact we were not detected by the probe because it's sensors are all focused on the planet, although it is logical to assume that there are other probes thet we have not yet detected on a similar mission and some other probes scanning for intruders on the system.
Sir, the Marsilii scientists are currently investigating an explosion that was spotted near the gate. That explosion must have been that of the presumed Loxian ship.
(Edited by Dalon at 1:42 pm on April 9, 2003)
*he looks at the viewscreen again and suddenly sees the ambassador class ship appear out of the gate*
"Uhh?? What is that?? Hail them, hail them!"
How long until we arrive at Avalon Station?
How are repairs coming along, Taurik?
OFF: Did Captain Sanchez leave someone in command until his return?
"So Doctor tell me how long have you been aboard?"
(Edited by Nalia Chemia at 11:18 pm on Jan. 14, 2003)
"There they are... Species 8472. Scan their ship!
Mr . Schmidt, do you agree with the mind melt with Mr. Dalon?"
Remember that they once set up a whole facility that was a mirror version of Starfleet Academy, giving themselves the look of a human being. It might be the same thing they have done here, to mix themselves unnoticed with the local populations of the planet."
Silm looked out and acessed the bridge. He didn't like all the rocking the ship had sustained and wouldn't be surprised to see holes gaping int he ships side. His position however was on the bridge so he announced his arrival to the otherwise hectic bridge crew.
"Sir, Stuart reporting for duty, Cheif of Ops..."
Stuart said this as he headed over to his station. If there was anyone there he releived them, unless they were of higher rank in which case he would ask first.
Taurik the results are being transferred right now.
*waits a couple of moments*
"The station's tactical system has sustained heavy electrical damage, almost a third of the ship's wiring needs to be replaced, and there is heavy damage to the wepons systems on the outside of the station"

"Commander Chemia I could use your help, you see at the moment this man walked in he seemed to be ok. But when I did some tests they revealed strange information. I don't know what it is exactly, maybe you know what it can be?"
*He gave the Commander a padd*
"You see the difference in the DNA structure, the right one is normal Talaxian DNA and the other one is from this man. When I tried to take a closer look at the DNA the computer said it wasn't possible, and why? I have no clue!"
It appears that there are sentient beings inhabiting the planet. I am reading some radio transmissions. They appear to be a pre-warp civilisation, medium concentrations of carbon monoxide and sulfur composites... industrial age. I will put us in orbit close to the planet's moon, so that we are not easily detected.
I'll have the computer monitor their communiactions searching for any reference of species 8472 or the fluidic gate.
*twenty minutes later*
Captain, they have a loose orbital satellite network, much like Earth around the year 2000, but no sensor array has detected our presence. There is a small space station orbiting their planet on a lower orbit, 8 crewmembers. They have an automated mining facility on the other side of the moon we are closer to. An automated shuttle just departed.
*a small pod rockets towards the planet*
Sir, I have just detected a probe orbiting the planet, it is not made by the local inhabitants... Its design is consistent with species 8472's, but it has not detected us so far...
