Title: U.S.S. Rivendell Mission 2: Starphoenix Base
Post by: Orpheus on July 28, 2004, 08:30:15 AM
Ship wide systems set to red alert.  All Systems are functioning normally.

I'm picking up several distress calls, Commander.  Not just from starphoenix.  It seems several uncharted planets are also under attack.  Sensors are unable to determine exactly what from this range.  Suggestion. Launcha  low energy probe to the co-ordinates.  I can monitor the probe from this distance.

(Awakened from his sobering from his rendezvous with the Celtic Corner. He reports to his post as tactical officer and does a diagnostics on the weapons on the ship making sure NO one tampered with them.)

Ah. Tis was a good time. Ah well. A life of an officer for me oh my. (He smiles.)

Ah, a diagnostic check on the weapons systems, Orpheus,  and please don't spare me any hard feelings. I am ready to get back to business. tsk. Tsk.

Taurik sits down behind the desk and motions for Travis to sit in one of the chairs facing the desk.

"I need to tell you something. While I was in my quarters, I had... an encounter... with one of the Na'jigat, or what seemed to be only one. They told me of their plan to 'absorb' the entire galaxy. They are very adamant in this quest, and do not believe we pose any significant threat to their operation. So far, I am inclined to agree with them. We have not as of yet discovered an effective way of combating them. Even with the help of the Gallifreyians, I am not certain they can be stopped. We need to come up with a way to defeat them on our own. What do you think?"

(OFF: Sorry for dropping out of the storyline unexpectedly, but I am having problems getting online. I will try to get online as much as I can, but I will most likely end up making an ingame excuse for my absence, such asa serious injury which renders me unable to command the ship for a while. Until then, we can get going.)

Taurik walks onto the bridge and takes his seat in the center command chair and presses a button on the arm of the chair.

=/\= Control, this is U.S.S. Rivendell, requesting clearance to disengage. =/\=

A response follows soon after:

=/\= Avalon reads, Rivendell, you are cleared for departure. =/\=

"Helm, disengage from spacedock and take us out of the main doors, one-quarter impulse power."

"It sounds solid. The only downside meaning the trap or other things had best be close. If this thing can take  alot of power away we wouldn't have much to move away from the station. And the Station is a big food source. Are there any kind of energetic nebulas near Starpheonix BasE?"

The captain was on the evolution with me but I didn't see or here from him.
Also commander Travis I have outfitted a number of antimatter canisters with inhancement modules to make there energy signal the size of the Rivendell or the evolution.  7 canisters are ready for deployment when ever you need them.

SInce I am playing this character also. Let me post what I written for Vurak Spock so it's an open playing field on both Rivendell and Evolution Forum. It's seems I have to explain my action. I am only playing with the dice that was dealt me no more. It was not meant to harm. I will abide with everyone's decisions. :).

Off: To all involved:

Who said the Evolution is going to be destroyed. Misinformation. I am glad someone is finally here. NO!!!! THE EVOLUTION IS NOT GOING TO BE DESTROYED! It's a diversional tactic and the evolution AND it's crew will not be destroyed. Clarification is being made. David had given permission for either me or Thomas Jackson to assist in running the evolution. Please read back a couple of forum posts. The original intent of the whole idea is to draw the N'ygat away from the Starphoenix base and draw the creature to a deeper part of space and let it feed on something else. A modification of the Warp engine was made to let out excess of energy for the N'ygat to feed upon in a "different part of space" AWAY from the Starpheonix base. An idea was pulled to perhaps lead this creature NEAR a black hole since it likes to feed on energy!!! ANd a black hole SUCKS on all energy matter. So why not try the idea to alleviate the problem by having one energy source suck another energy source to fix the problem. ANd if the black hole idea don't work then it will "Feed" on the energy only. A huge plume of Warp exhaust was going to be release like a balloon releasing air, but at a SAFE distance.  Then the Evolution was going to be WARPED  BACK to the original location with the threat alleviated at the moment even if the black hole idea was a bust. ALSO if sacrifices were to be made. My character was going to "BUY" the time by sacrificing it's self by launching himself with an space shuttle and committ himself to the N'ygat AND "BUY" the evolution enough time to escape by diverting it's attention. It was only a diversional tact to help en-liven the story since there has not been an event holder keeping track of the story to help guide it. There was little communication. THAT'S not right either. There was PLENTY of room to re-route the story back to it's original intent as well. I am sorry if this has caused havoc and I apologize for any mis-content among the group. I RESPECT david very much. I will NOT jeopardize his work, but I believe in David also wished for us to roleplay in his absence to keep the story going even if it does go off base eventually the intent was supposed to re-route us BACK to the original story, but I was only trying to roleplay my character so I used very descriptive narratives and attempted some brand new ideas. They don't have to agree with it.  I will respect your decision, but make sure everyone else will agree with it. That's all I can say about it. I will not use my free will against another. . To each his own. I will abide by ALL your decisions on this. You DON'T have to play the idea. Since it's only thus. An idea. Thank you for your times. Once again, my apology.

Off: Temporarily holding off further roleplay of my character Vurak Spock until resolution has been seeked.  Should an action deam necessary. I will stand down so another person can take command of the Evolution or an event holder can bring the story back to it's correct sequence as you wish it the story, but I will NOT edit my posting. It CAN be fixed based on story, but I don't not wish to stand on anyone's toes either.  It's really up to you all. I will post this statement on the Rivendell as well. Thank you.

Vurak Spock of the U.S.S. Evolution aka Solark Baklavar of the U.S.S. Rivendell.

Commander, an emergency transport, will draw the enemy towards our location shoudl attempt to utilize the transporter.

However, the modified photon torpedo's emite an energy field.  Fire the torpedos as we use the transporter. Divert the attention and the sphinx receives it's aid.

Also, about the energy decoy you were talking about Belana.  I can outfit the antimater containers with energy cells.  I had avalon beam them over that way the containers could fake putting out as much energy as the evolution or even the rivendell if we push it."

Off: As of now with the David's backing (So there is no misunderstandings.), the storyline I have worked is permitted to continue. I have read pgs. 37-38, but I wish to run this scenario for everyone BEFORE things begin to happen with the other storyline, I am figuring the N'ygat can split into different sections. Then I will convert it back to the storyline with Tynn. I really want to try this. Please understand. I have gotten word from David on this. I have managed to get a hold of him. By the way, they are doing well and happily married. Of course. LOL. :).

Solark receives communications..............................

Attention everyone, I seem to be receiving a communications from the Evolution.

" Captain Sanchez is down. He has been shocked unconscientious....Our medical officers are doing everything in their power to keep him going...............I am currently acting commanding officer of  the U.S.S. Evolution. Please understand that we are going to divert the N'ygat to these coordinates............(the coordinates and data is being sent to Helms of a black hole in the deeper part of space.) We are using our energy to build up speed to the warp engine to try to divert them AWAY from Starpheonix base. We made modification to warp engines so we can escape when we arrive at our destination. The modifications to warp engines will let out a HUGE plume of energy for the N'ygat to feed upon or the N'ygat may be sucked up by the black hole. One way or the other. It will BUY us more time. We will rendez-vous back to Starpheonix base to assist when we can...... Please understand. I promise that I will bring everyone HOME with the sacrifice of my own life if need be. The Evolution will NOT die with the N'ygat. NOT TODAY! Please do everything in your power to make sure everyone makes it home. Don't sacrifice if not necessary........................................ Any help will be......welcome..................Vurak.............................................Signing
................(static)........(End of Communications........)

(Solark stares at the viewscreen. On the screen. You see a dark cloud swirling out in a twist like motion, The N'ygat........A beam of light at the end of it's tail...........The Evolution streaking slightly, but barely ahead of the N'ygat. On it's tail as the menacing as the hunter goes after it's prey...............................................)

Captain,
I have a suggestion that might work to deal with the threat.
A black hole sucks all energy from the surrounding area.  If we could lure the Na'jigat close enough to the black hole it would enter it and not be able to escape.  If it even wanted to try to escape.

Heh. Well. It seems our sister ship. The U.S.S. Evolution just shot their second volley at the N'ygat and they are not looking to happy. Look at the view screen folks.........................(The U.S.S. Evolution fires it's second shot at the N'ygat and it seems the N'ygat is beginning to shift some of it's attention away from the ship........:)) Eh. Sensors indicate they are steering their attention abit from the Starpheonix base. Strange.

OFF:  Is anyone letting the other areas know of the happennings here. lol. It could be really bad if we float off the story. I am trying to keep the Rivendell posted, but who's keeping track of the Starpheonix base and U.S.S. Sphinx. It could turn really interesting if no one knows of our intentions and be for naught. lol. :). If anyone is willing to help in communication with the other forums. It would be greatly appreciated. Let me know or anyone else on this forum or other forums. That would be great. :). I have an extra character right now that is my 'eye' in the Rivendell right now. I am sure you figured that by now. LOL.  Please let me know if more help is coming on this. From what I have quickly read. We are still on course, but it may be a bit weird if we do something out of the blue without anyone else knowing what is going on. Please inform me if our intent has gone through with everyone. Yes, U.S.S. Evolution is many hours from here right now in our general direction. They are within a few hours of their destination. Orpheus from what I have conveyed has not returned any information of any communications of Starpheonix base within the last 24 hours. Commander. It's really quiet disturbing. As for the rest, you have to ask Belanna on her findings of the situation with Starpheonix base. Sensors indicate no trouble at the very moment. Security has reported no strange happennings of any kind including of the Q kind. (He looks whimsically at his board.) Any way. Commander. We are ok for just leaving the station now. The U.S.S. Evolution goes into offensive beginning its assault on the N'ygat. The first volley of the photon torpedoes hit the cloud, but as the torpedoes are launched. You see the torpedoes spread out in sequence into the cloud itself. You all notice the Evolution is in full power. To everyone it looks like a suicide run!!!!!! First volley has been shot awakening the sleeping beast!!!!!)

"Agreed."

Taurik and Travis walk back onto the bridge, and the Captain addresses the officer in command.

"Report."

Taurik stares at Lavelle, or what looks like Lavelle, intently for several seconds.

"What do you want me to tell them?"

The Na'jigat responds with an emotionless expression. "That you will not succeed in your efforts to stall our advance. We will absorb all life in this galaxy. If you cease resistance immediately, we will endeavour to make your absorpsion as quick as possible."

"I will not surrender to the Na'jigat. I expect my crew will feel the same way."

"So be it..."

There is a bright flash of light, hardly noticible, however, in contrast to the already white world. When the light subsides, Taurik is laying face up on the floor of his quarters.

Once back on the bridge, the walks to the door of his ready room, before turning to order: "Helm, initiate landing procedures for Landing Pad 4. Commander Travis, please follow me to my ready room."

"Energy...receiving lots of energy!.."
"Gallifreyans are trying to fight us....But we have lots of energy.."
"They are becoming weaker...we must overwhelm them..we shall oppose them.."
*Then the storm on Dantor increases and several buildings of the Starphoenix base collaps by the power of nature.
"..We still need energy...Dantor is almost depleted...to oppose the Gallifreyans we need more energy..."
"..Searching...Searching...Energy coming to us...ships are entering this part of space..."
At that moment the energycloud in space went away from planet Dantor and set course for the incoming vessels.

Captain Taurik looks around the strange world he is now inhabiting. He seems to be the only thing here, until he turns to see a human standing behind him. He is about to ask the human what is going on, when he recognizes the face.

"Sam? Sam Lavelle? What are you doing here?"

The human opens his mouth to speak.

"No. We are not the human 'Lavelle'."

"Then who are you?"

"We are the Na'jigat. You are Taurik, Captain, service number 798458-497."

"Where am I?"

"You are not in a different location, but a different plane of existence. We have taken your consciousness from your body and absorbed it into ourselves."

"I must ask you return me to my ship."

"This can be done, as soon as you agree to convey a message to the beings in your realm..."

Ha..From my rendez vous to the Celtic Corner, I hear that this creature the N'ygat likes to suck energy from it seems organic and in-organic material. Simply put, A ship like ours would be like a tasty snack to that creature we are facing. It seems to draw itself to high amounts of energy. I believe. So yeah. Lt. Commander Belanna is right to be a bit cautious. It's like a suicide run. BUt wondering strangely We also have a certain Captain that has dealt blows to the mighty Q that has brought about returned peace to our beloved ship and a new warpcore to boot. Ya know I wonder about how our Captain MANAGED to surpass Q. Did he not say he had mastered some test he has given and efeated him with his own powers.................................

I believe we also need to do our duty regardless. It's our sister ship as you can say. I also heard of new modifications has also been done to the Evolution that may help in our trying to escape if need be. That's only rumor though for I have only been down their briefly. Sorry for my interuption. I am about 75% done with my diagnostics. 10 more minutes and it should be....................................

Okay this is another character of mine and since its the only one i have registered here... Anyway

Meaning this is JEREMY SULLIVAN

Why didn't the Rivendell post and let like the lothlorien or the base know that you arrived?!?!?

So because of this we had no idea you were around, no idea that you were actually even still part of the story line like originally planned..

Anyway Something needs to be fixed..  And we need to work on the story line together.  So if it means some posts need to be editted then they need to be editted.

The Rivendell needs to coordinate with the USS Lothlorien as that is the flag ship of starphoenix.  Im going to make a similar post to the Evolution because I have no idea why the evolution is trying to fight the aliens because the galifreyans are taking care of that!

Ah. That is true, but should we not concentrate on diverting it's attention away from the base and then maybe we can possible lead it to an area where there is an opportune source of energy. Let it focus on us more and away from the base. That's all I am saying perhaps send it to a different area perhaps or lead it to a trap.....somehow since it all it can think of is eating energy it seems........But I am need to make those security rounds you requested, Commander Belanna...............

Ah. Welcome back Lt. Commander Freeman. I hope your journey was not too bumpy. :)

*As the vessels receive orders from Admiral Parker to set course to Avalon, the cloud divides into a few smaller masses. The Lothlorien takes off instantly, and one of the smaller masses tries to catch it, but to no avail, while the remaining vessels are enveloped in the energy-draining storm. The ships caught begin to experience severe draining of power to all of their systems.*

"Yes! Energy! We need more energy to rid of those mental pesks! One ship has escaped! ...These others provide plenty! Absorb it all!"

*The energy continues to deplete until light and life support begin to fail as well.*

*The darkness that the energy cloud casts over the base, seems to keep growing stronger and more intense, as the Na'jigat feeds from the station's energy source almost first hand through the water. But then suddenly... there is a momentary faltering, and for a moment the cloud looks like a sky of thunderstorm clouds that are beginning to clear just a little, and leaving just one ray of the sun through... some bright white light appears to be shine through the vast darkness of the energy cloud, so bright and clear that it does not seem to come from the Na'jigat cloud itself, and neither can be undone by the Na'jigat... The bright ray of light grows slightly wider and stronger, shining brightly upon one of the buildings of Starphoenix Base... even so strong that the light almost seems to easily go THROUGH the thick walls of the building, making it look a bit brighter in its surrounding darkness... and then gently, the light fades away again... The Na'jigat cloud seems to become restless, and even more eager to feed itself from the energy as fast and as much as it can...*

Ah. Lt. Commander Belanna. Anit-matter torpedos are a nice little addition. It should buy us more time, but somehow can our ships weaponry or the ships themselves draw away the N'ygat from Starphoenix base and unto us so the station is saved. A game of cat and mouse I say, but meaning our necks in the process unfortunately. By the way, all tactical systems are 100% functional and ready at your command of course. Didn't Vurak make a modification of some kind I kinda saw him write many notes on his datapad when I was at the Celtic Corner. He keeps referring to that dam N'ygat. Hey, What about a wave reaction we can utilize as a weapon against the N'ygat. A spread out type of weapon like sound waves or like a spread like a water drop does to water in a pool...........Any ideas what we can try for? Can't anti-matter explode and send a wave of some kind.......Hm. I talk to much. Do you want me to send a message to the Transporter Room crew to get a hold of Lt. Eh. Commander. You got to see this. Really everyone. The U.S.S. Sensors are indicating increased clould activity where the U.S.S. Evolution is currently. Notice they are STILL on full power. Commander. They are attempting to attract that creatures attention toward them. Like they are attempting to divert the attention away from the base and onto them......Commander. At your orders. All systems are ready when you are.................(Solark finally begins realizes that the U.S.S. Evolution is up to something very unorthodox.)

Does Starpheonix even KNOW how to fight this thing. Have they been notified to shut their station down perhaps we should consider that option of informing them so maybe when we arrive. They will shut their station down AND then the N'ygat will come after the next source of energy. US then we can somehow lead it away somewhere......Hm...Commander. Perhaps somehow if we can lead this creature back to it's source. Hm....Any more ideas, My may not be as feasible. (He looks up inquisitively.)

At your ready. Commander. The warp are being engaged from what I have been notified, but awaiting your orders to embark. We can save time dramatically. They NEED our help right now. Commander. I am ready to sally forth as an old earth term would put it. Captain Taurik is with us currently just in another part of the ship at the moment. (technically he is, but he has not posted that's all. :) lol.) I am sure he would want you to go forward.

Addressing Belanna: Tis' always a pleasure having a drink with ya always. I am sure. (As he returns his smile.)

Ah. Another day in paradise I see Mr. Orpheus. I never thought I had to see a computer having to take a rest break, but heh, It's like seeing a vulcan actually show emotion. It's another day in paradise. Take your rest. I am already working on beginning the diagnostics. Let's see now. This should take about an hour at least. Hmm...Now. I should have this done in no time. Let's start with torpedos...................(He goes into his phase of performing his diagnostics.)

"Then we should look for alternative shielding. Or something else entirly. The Na'jigat gets enough energy from us its a wonder it doesn't eat itself."

*Meanwhile, at Starphoenix Base, the energy cloud is drawn to a particular concentration of power at the station, and heads toward it fast, casting a dark shadow on the buildings below it... As it came within range, the inverse energy phasers were fired...*
"Energy... absorb energy..."
"What is this? Inverse energy! They try to trick us!"
"Ignore their tricks, they cannot weaken us..."
"They are annoying us!"
"We are being delayed! Gallifreyans may come soon, must hurry..."
"We will trick them back..."
"And we will take all energy at once..."
*At that moment, the dark energy cloud seems to expand as if to cover the entire landbase... but in fact it is moving toward the nearby ocean.*
"Water... water makes energy stream easier..."
"We will be able to assemble all energy and take it at once..."
*At that moment, what seems to be some sort of heavy lightning strikes into the ocean, several kilometers away from the station. The lightning seems to pierce into the depths of the oceans, and for an instant there appears to be a hole in the water... then the water begins to react and a huge wave begins to form. The large wave of water grows higher and more massive, as it sets for Starphoenix Base... In a matter of moments, the immense and high wave reaches the coastal area nearby Starphoenix Base, and the people on the base can see how the waves are taller than themselves... even taller than the highest buildings of Starphoenix base... and then the wave comes crashing down on top of the first buildings, and tons of water flows into the base, flooding the streets so much that only the highest buildings barely come above the water. The violent ocean water keeps flooding into the base, even tearing apart some of the smaller buildings and taking them with the stream, as the cloud hangs above the flooded areas, and begins to concentrate its power on an open area... The power of the energy field seems to look like a tornado coming down from it, heading for the water... and when it strikes the water, it begins to whirl with a heavy wind, as the Na'jigat cloud begins to extract all energy that is being flown through the water...*
"Energy... energy... Want more energy!"
"We still have part in space attacking ships..."
"They must make ships pay for this trick as well, and make sure they no longer delay us again!"
*And at that moment, in space, the separated part of the Na'jigat cloud turns aggressive, attacking all ships with what also seems to be a surge of energy lightning. The ships suffer a heavy shock, upsetting their systems as the ship is pulled back, away from planet Dantor.*

OFF: this is the last post I can make before I go on vacation. I won't be able to post until september again. Now you can continue the storyline and admins could post with Event Horizon, if they want. The idea is that the Na'jigat is about to destroy everything and everyone, when again the Gallifreyan cavalry appears. Gallifreyans are humanoid people, and the only species in the universe that is strong enough to fight the Na'jigat through mental energy. Even they can't defeat or destroy the Na'jigat, but they can force them to retreat - for now. I will ask Montrell to post as Legudon (main chief of the Gallifreyans) when he returns from his vacation soon. The Gallifreyans will use no weapons except pure concentration on telephatic energy. They are a species that does not like to interact with other species and will be short in answers, if they tell you anything at all. Little is known about them, and nobody really knows yet where they are from and who they are. But the war between the Na'jigat and the Gallifreyans has been going on from the beginning of time and will never end.
As for the Na'jigat, remember they can NOT be destroyed. You can delay them, confuse them a bit (but remember they CAN read your minds, they are the purest form of telephatic power as well) and besides trying to win some time, there's little you can do - but that doesn't mean you can make it spectacular, like I now just gave you some material to work with for some time ;)
