where has the Captain diasappeared to?
OFF: I guess I will take over,... temporarily
Commander Skon you have the bridge, show the arriving Loxian to my ready room, When he has transported over.
*leaves the bridge for his ready room*
(Edited by Roland Burma at 12:33 pm on Sep. 28, 2003)
"Commander, can you hear me? This is Zentox, I was captain of the Loxian mining vessel Tazay. As we are no longer into costudy by your order, and thus free, I would like to formally request asylum for myself and my people who are with me now."
Zentox hurries to the commander.
"He's not bluffing, I'm afraid. They will go to any extent to see their wishes done. That is what I have been trying to explain all this time... and the worst is: nobody of the Loxian civilians on our homeworld will ever know this happened, everyone will simply be silenced."
At that moment, Skon's computer panel beeps. Zentox sees Skon heading toward it, and he hurries to see for himself, and his hopes are right...
"Seven Loxian exile ships.. they're answering our distress call!"
OFF: I can call you captain, since your the high ranking officer on board, for now.
"This is Prime Commander Kowan of the official Loxian cruiser Lanxi. The damaged ship you see before you, is NOT recognized by us. These Loxians are savages, exiled from our homeworld for heavy crimes. They know of no law, they are anarchists! For years, they have made the Dark Passage unsafe. Our business here is to make this part of space safe once more, but we saw they beamed over your captain, so for now we cannot destroy them.
Don't worry about your captain for now, they will first try to convince him of their terroristical cause, before they will use harsher means. By the time it comes that far, I'm sure we can have a rescue plan ready. If you would allow me to come aboard your ship, we could discuss the situation more properly than over this communication system, and I can explain you things better, and we can device a plan to get your captain back."
Asylum? If you formally request it then we can keep you on board, but your Loxian government friends need to know that all of you wish for asylum and are not being ordered by their superior
I must apologize for my earlier actions, I wasn't feeling well. But now that has changed.
I will grant you asylum, but don't get your hopes up, the Loxian Government might try to force you off.
Will kept the soldier pinned down til Rasmain brought him a pair of wrist binders.
"Captain, we are receiving a distress signal...origin is Loxian Space"
Good idea, Mr. Robinson. Please escort our guest here are soon as he arrives.
*Skon moves down to take the command chair.*
no I am fine.
I think we should let the Loxians go, they have the right to do whatever they wish.
"Burma to Lt. Robinson"
"please release the Loxian you have in custody"
=^=CMO Cmdr. Zax to Burma=^=
"Sir, the captain's condition is quite complex. The Doctor and I were treating him...that is, until the Doctor just now collapsed at my feet. A nurse is tending the Doctor right now.
As for the captain, I will continue his treatments myself until the Doctor can continue to assist me. Commander Seldana Zax out, sir."
Sel tapped her commbadge off. She continued tending to the captain, glancing with concern back to the Doctor every once in a while.
Will headed for Transporter Room 2
=/\= Cmdr? =/\=
*Commander Burma was sitting in the captain's chair pondering his future in starfleet, he was looking forward to getting home to Avalon*
Helm, what's our current ETA?
Mason: we will arrive at Avalon station in 3 days 10 hours and 36 minutes sir.
Burma: thank you Lieutenant.
=^= Burma to sickbay=^=
any news on Captain McKinley? what is his prognosis? =^=
*waits patiently for the attending physician to respond*
=A= Montrell out =A=
=A= Thank you Admiral, will do =A=
Ok we are home people.
Mr. Mason, 1/4 impulse bring the ship into docking procedures and move to docking bay 2.
Mr. Robinson, could you give me a report on our weapons cache, I want to know what is missing or what we used up, whether it be torpedoes or used energy to fire phasers.
Lt. Marotek, you need to give me a status report on damages sustained and any necessary repairs we need.
Doctor, I would like to know everything you can tell me about the phenomenon through the gate we passed by and what kind of mental pictures you were recieving.
Commander Skon, Prepare Captain McKinley for transport, contact the station's medical department and try to see what can be done about his condition.
Somebody notify our Loxian guest that we have arrived.
Everyone else give me a status report on your designated department, unless you are an assistant officer.
Now once all that is complete I believe that you all have some shore leave coming. You might get a few days before our next mission so enjoy it while it lasts. And I want you all to visit the hospitality spots on the station.
Sel felt the ship moving. She had no idea how her med dept. could help in a seemingly diplomatic mission. She was, however, ready for anything.
*Nods to Lieutenant Robinson*
"Welcome Lieutenant, I was informed about your arrival. I hope you have familiarized yourself with the ship, you know you are the ship's security officer "
*Skon leans over his board and transmits the data. As he does so, he notices movement on the scanner.*
Sir, the Loxian military ships have changed course. They appear to be converging on the Tazay.
If the Loxian government seriously wishes to negotiate a treaty with the Federation, they will have to agree to abide by the tenants of interstellar law. Once the terms are discussed, I'm certain that we could work out some sort of extradition policy regarding the "prisoners." Presuming, of course, that the Loxians can legitimately prove jurisdiction over them. However, such negotiations could take months...
OFF: Just working on a stall tactic until we find out what's really going on.
(Edited by Skon at 9:52 pm on Oct. 6, 2003)
Smiling, "You'd probably like to go back up to the bridge I suppose."
Zentox and his first officer, followed Will to the nearest turbolift.
(Edited by Will Robinson at 5:41 pm on Oct. 13, 2003)
*turns to Lt. Mason*
"Lieutenant, what is our ETA?"
Mason: the ship is 130Ly from Avalon station. Which will take us about 5 days to reach at warp 6.
Burma: very well , make it so
Commander Rasmain will this course take us through any threatening areas?
*the ship then moved to full impulse speed then jumped to warp*
OFF: Mason is a character of mine so I didn't post over anyone else.
The readings are confusing. There was definitely something on the other side of that gate...an advanced technology of a type unknown to us. There appeared to be two separate entities -- one that created the gate and another ship of unknown origin. Both species appear to have impressive mental abilities and highly advanced technology. They also appeared to be struggling against each other. While I cannot confirm this with scans, I also received the distinct mental impression that the beings behind the gate wanted...something...from us, and that their intentions, while not exactly hostile, weren't necessarily friendly either.
I assume that the Doctor could fill us in more fully, but if this situation is as highly classified as he says, we shall probably have to await a briefing on Station Avalon for more information -- if they choose to let us in on the secret.
(Edited by Skon at 9:57 pm on Dec. 1, 2003)
Arm phaser banks, ready torpedoes.
Lineup the ship for the calibration of the weapons.
"Status report, Vakin" Zentox barked impatiently.
"The Loxian goverment must have seen that Starfleet ship coming us way, and now want to cut them off from us!"
Zentox snarles.
"Typical! They are afraid we might talk with those Federation people, and tell them the truth! What is our tactical status?"
"Not good, captain," Vakin responds. "We're still dead in the water, and we have no weapons to speak of. There's little we can do."
Zentox' face turns red in anger, but Zayan approaches him.
"There is something we can do, that won't require weapons or defence systems. Only a little bit of power and one of our transporters."
Zentox eyes the female Loxian.
"Transporter? What do you intend to do? Beam us over to that Federation ship?"
Zayan smiles.
"No, but the other way around. I have scanned the ship, it's a ship called U.S.S. Skytoucher, NCC-2840, and I have been able to locate their ops room - their bridge. It's on the most vulnerable place of their ship, their engineers must not be very bright, if you ask me. Locating their captain was even easier, on this bridge. I can beam him over right away."
Zentox laughs.
"Beam the captain over? You are kidding! That will provoke those Loxian government ships even more, and they'll blast us to pieces now they have the chance!"
"No, they will not," Zayan says, "because they are too intent to negotiate an alliance with this Starfleet. And by blowing up a ship with the Skytoucher's captain on it, will certainly not help those negotiations. In other words, they cannot afford to even do so much as damage us, as long as we have this Starfleet captain on board. They cannot risk hurting or killing him."
Zentox grins.
"I get the idea, you are good, Zayan! But we won't get much support ourselves, from Starfleet, if we capture their captain."
Zayan shakes her head.
"That remains to be seen. I agree, they will not react thankfully at first, but as long as the captain is among us, we are able to talk with him. And by talking with him, we can make him see the truth of the Loxian government. We can show him the proof of everything we have been fighting for: our freedom! Surely then he will understand better, than if he were to talk to us over a viewscreen, or if he had talked to those Loxian government people first."
Vakin joins in.
"I can erect a distortion field around the ship too, captain. I know it won't hold back any firepower of any kind, but it will block transport signals. Once we got the Starfleet captain on our ship, I erect this field and they can't beam him back for quite awhile."
Zentox slams his fists on the arms of his chair.
"Perfect! Get me that captain! NOW!"
Zayan smiles and gets back to her panel.
"Right away, captain."
And a few moments later, captain McKinley appears on the bridge of the Tazay.
"Why are you treating us like terrorists?" Zentox demands. "We have done nothing to you to deserve to be treated this way! Ask your captain, ask him how we treated him while he was on our ship! He can tell you that we meant no harm whatsoever! Not to him, not to your ship, and not to any of your crew!"
"Still, taking are Captain from are ship, without his consent, isn't exactly the proper way to make friends, is it?"
Roland Burma : tactical, ready weapons prepare for a defensive power distribution... only fire if fired upon, understood!?
Tac Officer : "Understood Cmdr."
(Edited by Will Robinson at 6:31 pm on Oct. 6, 2003)
We have isolated the frequency used by the Tazay's distortion field. Engineering was attempting to adapt our transporters to beam though it before the situation changed. While this may not seem like a priority right now, I suggest we continue to make modifications to our transporters -- as well as our weapons -- just in case we meet another hostile ship with similar technology. As you humans would say, "It is better to be safe than sorry."
"Well, Kowan, it seems that you are no longer in the advantage," Zentox says as he keeps his weapon aimed at Kowan. "So unless you want to die at my hand, tell your men to retreat, as well as your ship, and surrender."
Kowan stares for some long, silent moments to Zentox, his face turning red with anger, but then he lowers his head when he realizes he is beaten.
"You have heard him," Kowan then orders to his men, "stand back and let Starfleet take control over their ship again. Return to the ship and tell them to cease fire. And tell them I surrender..."
The Loxians look around bewildered for a moment, but then realise that they have no choice but to follow Kowan's orders anyway, and use a small object to push a button and to beam back to their ship.
Zentox keeps looking at Kowan, but does not smile. He simply nodds, and then looks at commander Burma.
"I believe you have a prisoner to escort to your brig, now."
"Oh, I would not want to disturb the Great Messiah of the Loxian people, or keep him from his important tasks to keep the universe in balance... I shall reside where you believe it best. One question, however, do you have any idea how long it takes to reach your headquarters station?"
"Fear not, Starfleet Captain," he speaks up, "we did not bring you here to harm you."
McKinley: "What am I doing here? I demand you return me to my ship at once!"
"Captain," Vakin speaks up in a softer tone, "the Tolok Field is erected, transporter beams won't be able to penetrate for several hours now."
Zentox nodds. "Good." Then he turns back to captain McKinley. "Captain, please allow us a moment to explain. The situation is far more serious than you can possibly know. But let me welcome you to my ship, and may Zantay, the Supreme Loxian Goddess be good to you.
Yes, Zantay is in fact the name of our supreme Goddess, as we always name our ships after our gods and goddesses to receive their blessings on our journeys. But when I say 'we', I mean the exiled Loxians. Yes, we are exiled from our homeworld, because we did not want to agree with the dominating rule of the Loxian Government. Surely, they don't name their ships after our gods of old, but after their own magistrates! How pathetic is that, huh?
Let me introduce myself, captain. I am Zentox, commanding officer of this ship, and this is Vakin, my second-in-command. And this is my intelligence officer, Zayan. Again, captain, we will do you no harm, and before we continue our talks, we will let your ship know that you are alive and well. Vakin, open a channel to the USS Skytoucher."
Vakin turns to his panel and touches some buttons.
"Channel open, audio and visual."
Zentox turns to his viewscreen, with captain McKinley by his side.
"Starfleet vessel USS Skytoucher, this is captain Zentox of the Tazay. We know we have angered you by suddenly beaming over your captain, but as you can see, he stands by my side, sound and well. We do not intend to hurt him, so please do not fire on our ship. We simply would like to talk with him, and when we have done so, he will be returned to you as healthy as he was among you just now. I'm sorry it had to be this way, but when we have explained everything, you will surely understand we had no other choice. Again, we don't intend you or your captain any harm. Zentox out."
The channel is closed, and Zentox turns back to captain McKinley.
"Well, captain, I guess I owe yousome explanation for all this now."
"If the Starfleet vessel hails us again, explain them that all we intend is to talk with their captain, no more. And if the other Loxian vessels try to interfere, transmit a message to all those ships that if they blow up our ship, they will also kill the Starfleet captain."
Vakin nodds, and Zentox leaves the bridge with McKinley, to arrive at some small office. This place was at least a bit brighter and cleaner than the bridge.
"Be seated, captain, and please forgive me for this... unusual capture. I assure you once more, we have no intention of harming you, your ship or your crew. All we want is that you listen to us. Let me explain why we brought you here.
First of all, you need to know a bit of Loxian history, to understand our situation. Centuries ago, a new planetary government was elected on our homeworld Loxius. Though the election was not exactly fair. They promised us citizens a great deal of good things, but things did not turn out the way they profiled it to us.
They promised us a safer world to live on, but instead it became a strict military regime where people are no longer free to do what they want, go where they want, or even say what they want. Over the many years, regulations have become so strict, that the government does not even tolerate the smallest uprising any more. To say it in other words, if you would simply SAY you disagree with some government's decision, is enough to face heavy charges, and often the penalty is either death or exile.
I am one of those many exiles, captain. I am one of the people who stood up for ourselves, and our true rights and freedom, instead of allowing our lives to be dominated by their power. And for that reason, I am exiled. I am no longer allowed on my own homeworld."
Zentox gets up from his chair and slowly walks around in his office. There are some pictures on a table. Pictures of a Loxian female, and two Loxian children - a boy and girl of approximately 12 years old.
"This, captain, was my family. My wife, my children. I loved them to death. Do you know what happened to them, when I was exiled? My wife was brutally killed in front of my eyes! YES! But of course, that is not publicly known on Loxius, those things are 'classified' as they call it, and to suggest otherwise as Loxian civilian, means the same penalty for you. Oh, but they are good at eliminating such evidence, and at suppressing any form of rumour against them!"
Zentox slams his fist on the table, the photographs trembling on it from the shock. He takes a few breaths to regain his calm posture.
"And my children... they were allowed to live. But I would never see them again. It has been 20 years since I saw my children! What has happened to them? Are they happy? I can't know! All I know is that they were taken to some Loxian military base, where they were given a so-called 'official governmental education'. But I know better! They were brainwashed, and now they are the puppets of the government! If they would even remember their father, most likely they would not want anything to do with me any more! Can you believe that? My own children!
Ah, I'm sorry, I'm going too much into detail. It is not my personal life I intended to tell you, captain, but the life of thousands of Loxian exiles.
The many Loxians that were exiled from their homeworld over the many years of this governmental regime, retreated into the large asteroid field of the Dark Passage. And that was more than necessary, I tell you. Because the government likes to play games as well. Often, they send their cadets on 'field training', and that means: take a Loxian attack cruiser into space and kill as many Loxian exiles as you can.
They have no regard for our lives. An exile is not worth to live, in their eyes, we are deemed worthless. We are a filth to the universe. The asteroid field is a perfect hiding field for us to stay away from them. But it makes surviving very hard. There is nothing to be found inside this asteroid field, except for some few asteroids that are worth mining.
I will be blunt and honest with you, captain. All you see that I have here; this ship, our clothes, our food - we all stole it during raids. It was either that, or starve and die. The asteroids are not fit to live on, so our ship is our home. We live to defend it, and die defending it. If our ship is destroyed, we have no chances to survive. Among the exiled Loxians, there is no order, they are all splitted up in tribes - a tribe of one or a few ships, and often tribes will fight each other to gain the material and food of the others, when the survival needs press once more. We are doomed.
And when we heard about this situation that the Loxian government intends to sign an alliance with your Starfleet, we became desperate. Because we know them well enough - by the Goddess Tazay, we spent our lives fighting them and fleeing from them - and what they want is a strong partner, to eliminate us for once and for all.
Please, captain, listen very carefully. If you sign a treaty with them, you will never see the end of it! And our last hope for survival will be forfeit! Our last hope now, is YOU. You and your Starfleet ship, you can help us regaining our freedom. We will never have the means to fight back against the Loxian government, we are not strong enough for that, and every year there are fewer of us. Please, captain, at least think it over - we need your protection, now. Your protection against the corrupted Loxian government. No more."
OFF: now would be a good time for McKinley to respond
(Edited by Skon at 2:54 pm on Sep. 15, 2003)
"Listen to me!" Zentox' voice resounds somewhere on the dark bridge. "They don't care about you, they don't care about your ship, they don't care about your Starfleet! All they want is to exterminate me and my people - to any extent!"
Soon, he finds commander Burma through the smoke.
"Commander, if you will not permit me to surrender myself to Kowan, then please allow me to send a distress signal to my people in the asteroid field. I know a secured frequency code we always use. Kowan can never decipher it, its so different from their systems that they can never monitor our internal communications - one of the few ways that have helped us survive this far - but the Loxian exiles in the asteroid field will unmistakably recognize that it comes from me, and come to my aid. Perhaps then we can shake Kowan and his ships off, and save your ship and both your and my people."
OFF: After all, the Three Diplomats should stick together
(Edited by Skon at 10:25 pm on Aug. 6, 2003)
"What are we gonna do Captain? Are we going to let those Loxians just interrogate Captain McKinley?"
"Loxian Cruisers, this is the Federation Starship Skytoucher. Are commanding officer has been taken by the Mining Vessel Tazay. We are curious on your intentions."
"Finally, they let me out of sickbay after what seemed an eternity! Status report, all stations?"
"Are weapons are about equal to the Loxian Cruisers Cmdr."
Computer, restore gravity...slowly.
OFF: Is anyone else having trouble logging on? I log on, and get the typical "Welcom Skon" up at the top. But when I click on the "Enter Forums" link or the "Avalon Division" link on the left, I become "Welcome Guest" again. ah good idea Mr. Robinson, you never know when danger could catch up with us, stay at red alert.
Commander Skon, I believe we shall leave the briefing for when we get to station Avalon.
By the way, Lt. Mason, how long till ew reach the station?
Mason: sir, we are in visual range now sir.
Burma: Excellent, Hail them.
Ops: channel open
Burma: =^= This is Commander Burma of the Skytoucher, requesting permission to dock. It is good to see you guys =^=
But I want to have a backup plan just in case.
Run sweeps of the area for any other ships.
Tactical analysis Mr. Robinson.
stand done red alert go to Yellow Alert.
Mr. Skon is there any way we can transport through their shield grid? if so find it and get him out of there.
OFF: you people really read my mind. I had in mind before that the Loxians would beam the captain to their ship (when McKinley wasnt posting already) and you did it before I could make it happen myself. Now I intended for the Loxian ship to be attacked and that they would ask the Skytoucher for rescue, and again you have already done it. You people are really good :P
tactical, what is there weapons status?, if they have weapons armed then we are in deeper trouble than earlier thought.
What strategies could we get out of this?
I want to know how we fair against the Loxian Government ship.
*At that moment more consoles blow*
"Well Dr. Zex, I'll let you make that decision, but given the number of wounded we have here, it may be a good idea you suggest we transfer our worst cases to the starbase. I realize it would be nice to treat the Captain here, but we cannot afford the luxury in view of how many patients we have."
(The Doctor scratched his head bemusedly.)
"In my opinion, I mean. I'm a little out of touch on this type of case in any event. I've been a xenobiologist before, but Terrans aren't my speciality."
Whoever is at helm now please set a course for Loxian space, warp 5.
"The Talzay's weapons consist of one forward and aft photon launcher and six phaser banks, but they are all inoperable Captain."
"As for the cruisers, they have eight phaser banks, two aft and forward torpedo launchers, and one starboard and port launcher each."
OFF: Shouldn't we contact them?
"Cmdr, I'd be willing to show Mr Zentox to the VIP Quarters, if it's with your approval?"
*the ship shot off into space*
Our estimated time of arrival is approximately 4 days give or take an hour or so.
"Mr Kowan, are you aware that if you capture this entire ship, the chance of a peacefull agreement between our species will not be made in the near future. If you are a wise man, and I think you are, you stand down and transport back to your own ship"
"Kowan..."
Kowan turns around to see Zentox still having his weapon aimed at him. The weapon was a Loxian one.
Zentox: "I've waited so long for the moment to kill you."
As Zentox pulls the trigger, Kowan shuts his eyes, anticipating to be killed any moment, and then...
<click>
Kowan carefully opened his eyes again, wondering if he's still alive or not, and saw Zentox still standing there with a grim smile. Zentox' weapon had never been charged in the first place, not even when he had Kowan under shot before and managed to force him to surrender... and more: Zentox knew it from the beginning.
As Robinson lead Kowan on into the turbolift, Zentox stared at him and meanwhile dropped the useless weapon on the floor in front of his feet...

the prime directive forbids me from interfering with your society, but I will not let you do this. I know exactly what you plan to do and I would rather lose my post than let over a hundred Loxians die by your hands. I am sorry if you thought other wise.
OFF: just thought I would add a little twist ;)
OFF: Your back
Kowan: "We meet again in person, Skytoucher crew. I wish it were in different circumstances. Surrender our prisoners or we will capture your entire ship."
Will looked at Kowan, nad jestered towards a turbolift.
"shall we?"
Kowan kept silent, and went to the brig with Will.
(Briefly examines the Captain.)
"Well, these readings are interesting..." (Doctor bangs the tricorder on the table three times hard. The tricorder fizzes and bleeps.) "Oh, that shouldn't do that I'm sure..."
"If these readings are correct, Doctor, our patient here needs a bit more recovery time. Though I'm no expert. What do you think of these readings?"
"You are correct. The tricorder's readings definitely confirm your diagnosis. The Captain will need extensive treatment, so let us begin..."
Will escorted the Loxian Guests to the Captain's Ready Room.
Will Rung the chime.
Burma : "Come."
"Captain, Prime Commander Kowan and?"
(Edited by Will Robinson at 4:00 pm on Sep. 29, 2003)
"Cmdr."
Roland turns around to see them.
"Mr. Robinson, I never had a chance to thank you for all your help. In name of my people, we are very grateful to you and are in your depth.
If one day we can make our homeworld Loxius a free place for everyone again, then I vow to you right now that a statue of you will be placed right next to the statue we shall place in the Great Temple of the Goddess Tazay."
Zentox smiled.
"Imagine it... a huge, magnificent temple... now neglected by the corrupted government, being fully restored, and in the middle a huge statue in stone, with the text: 'Burma The Messiah, who delivered our people from the suppression'. And next to it, your statue with the text: 'Robinson The Strong, the faithful companion of Burma, who helped our people to win back their freedom'. Ah I can see it before me, it will be magnificent!"
One scenario actually "sticks".
Speaking in Trillese, which Sel *hopes* the intruders don't understand, Sel addresses USS Skytoucher's ship computer: "Computer raise temp and humidity on the Bridge". Sel hopes the increased heat and humidity *might* cause the intruders to fall asleep.
OFF: you thought you'd be rid of it that easy huh :P
*the ship moved forward as it headed for the appropriate spot*
(This is T'Hain btw in case you are wondering who would be so bold to say all that :P )
OFF To Johnathon Mason: lol, "hey whos driving" *Astroid closes in* "AHH!!!!" BOOM!
"Greetings in the name of the official Loxian government, and thank you for allowing me to come aboard. I trust you have a comfortable room where we can discuss the matters at hand?"
=A= Station Avalon for USS Skytoucher =A=
"This is Admiral Montrell, we have received your distress signal but we are not capable to assist you. There are no ships in the vicinity and no ships docked at Station Avalon that can be of assistance. We will monitor your condition, we all expect you to return and bring this mission to a succes. We will try to find help! In the mean time, we wish you luck"
Commander Kowan, Mr. Rasmain is correct. If you take this ship, there will be no hope of peace between our peoples...at least not for a long time. You are risking the chance of a long, devastating interstellar war. Do you really think that's what your government wants?
Skon continues to move toward Kowan – unthreateningly, with his hands raised. Meanwhile, he is looking for the most likely place to apply a Vulcan nerve pinch.
"Channel closed sir."
Ensign: "Aye sir."
The ensign began scanning the spacial perimeter of the Skytoucher.
When we were first hit our hull sustained minor damage but as we were continously hit with consecutive torpedoes the hull was ruptured enough to cause the emergency forcefield to automatically engage. Several sections of the ship will need to be refitted to enable those areas to be used again.
The ship's shield matrix has shut down and is offline.
We are lucky that our damage wasn't more severe because the warp core is now currently offline as well. The long continous use must have burned out the warp initializers.
There are multiple scorch marks made by torpedo strikes. Those Loxians only caused minimle damage but it was enough to almost disable all our systems.
Will and the Sec Officer took the Talzay Captain to the brig.
(Edited by Skon at 12:07 am on Oct. 28, 2003)
"You can stop searching now. All the equip we need is in the tray here attached to the bed that our patient--the Captain (?)--is on".
Sel paused, then continued: "As your chief medical officer, I ask you to please help me finish treating the Captain so that he may return to duty".
Sel heard her commbadge beeping: "How's the Captain doing?", her fellow crewmember's voice asked.
"He should be hale and hearty again once the Doctor and I finish treating him", Sel replied.
Sel tapped her commbadge off and waited for the Doctor to join her.
I hope our VIP quarters are to your liking, enjoy your stay here. you may also want to bring yourself to find some recreation, and I believe there are some holodeck space available .
Continous scans for possible threats to our ship.
OFF: took long enough huh? for me to post, forgot I was driving. lol sorry
OFF: If there is such a thing.
"Commander, this is not what we agreed upon! We had discussed these matters extensively, and you agreed that I would take care of whatever Loxian exile ship may come to bother us, so you would have your hands free to get your captain back. Now your captain is back, and I demand that you transport those Loxians to our ship immediately! They are our prisoners, not yours!"
Kowan: get back
*Burma then moves back*
what is the reason you need these people?
what have they done to you?
I see no point in dragging this on any further than it has to.*he very slowly inches forward* I will.... let you have....*suddenly Burma lurtched forward grabbing at Kowan's weapon*
*They struggle over the weapon for a while*
.....give me....
Kowan: ....let go!.....now....
Burma: agghh...*still struggling*...............
*Burma turns to his crew*
"Chart a course for Avalon Station, warp 4"
I believe that all is calm here, so we can leave.
*looks back at Zentox*
Zentox, would you care to take a seat on the bridge or do you wish for quarters?
OFF: I tried to get out of it lol
(The Doctor collapses into a heap at Doctor Zax's feet. A nurse running to assist another patient jumps over his prone form and hurries to do her duty.)
Mr. Niles takes his place on the Bridge
May our mission end up a success.
OFF: I need to go to Mission Planning.
(( OFF: Yes! I'm back! Bring on the action! ! ))
"In the name of Va'jux, the God of Rock and Stone, this is a disaster!" Zentox, the Loxian captain of the vessel yelled out in anger. "Status report, Vakin! Now!"
A younger Loxian, second in command, ran toward the captain with some sort of padd with data on it.
"Not good... I'm afraid. We lost engine control... let's say we're pretty much adrift in space right now. But the good news is, that we are not near any objects, asteroids or planets at the moment, so we can't collide with anything, or crash anywhere, and the ship has slowed down to almost a full-stop by itself."
Zentox nodded, frowning angrily. "What else?"
"Not much more good news, the computer core is seriously destabalizing, many system operations are down, but again some good news: we've been able to transmit a distress call."
"A DISTRESS CALL!" the Loxian captain cried out, grabbed his first-in-command by his shirt and threw him back among the debris of broken control panels.
Vakin yelled out in pain, but let himself fall and did not resist, so he would not further anger his captain. Zentox looked around at the other Loxians on the bridge, as if to challenge his authority.
"He sent a distress call! We were nearly destroyed and we were lucky to make it out alive and in one piece, and HE is going to send a distress call! If they receive it, our present location will be known again, and they will come back to finish us! Forsaken Loxian government! Long live the Exiles! Send a distress call... bah!"
Another Loxian stepped forward, female this time, looking confident and not afraid in the least.
"Captain Zentox, Vakin did well to send out that distress call-"
Before she could say another word, Zentox grabbed her too and was about to throw her into the debris as well, but this woman, called Zayan, was faster.
"You would do well to listen to the words of your most trusted Exile Spy!"
Zentox glared angrily in her eyes, but then took a deep breath and released her.
"What?" he spat.
"Have you forgotten what the Loxian government intends to do?" she said, still calm and confident. "They sent word to this-this... Starfleet, wanting to make an alliance with them, some sort of treaty. This would strengthen the Loxian government, you know this as well as I do!"
"Do not speak to me of things I already know, Zayan! The Loxian government only cares about power, and about exterminating us-and everyone else who does not agree with them!"
"Now you are the one who is telling me things I already know as well, Zentox, but here's something you didn't know, and we didn't had the time to tell you when we find out, because right then the official Loxian government vessels appeared out of nowhere and attacked us."
"Well? What did you discover then?"
"A Starfleet vessel is on course to Loxius, to meet the government as agreed. And they are the ones who received this distress call. Our com-systems are barely working, so we can't fully trust them, but we did receive some transmission from them. We couldn't make out too much, but judging from the tone, they seemed to have received our distress call, and seemed to intend to help us. Sensors-for as far as they can be trusted right now-indicated they altered course toward us."
Zentox looked up at his female Loxian officer.
"Starfleet is coming to... to us?
Zayan nodded. "That explains the sudden unexpected attack from the Loxian government ships. They wanted us out of the way, knowing that a possible new ally was on its way toward them. They did not want us to intervene, they did not want anyone to be around, who could prove how corrupt they are."
Zentox could still not believe his ears. "They are coming toward us... to us FIRST, before going to Loxius..." He looked up at her again. "This is our chance, Zayan, to do what we were born to do! With their help, we will set our people free once more!"
He looked around at his others officers, including his second-in-command, who had got back on his feet by now but had not dared to speak another word.
"Everyone, get to work! Make sure that the comm-systems are fully operational again by the time they come here!"
Everyone nodded and started to get to work.
"They should be here within the hour, if they hold their current speed and course," Zayan added.
"Good," nodded Zentox. "They will be surprised when we tell them who their new potential allies really are."
He sat down in his captain's chair and overlooked the repair teams with narrow eyes, waiting for the U.S.S. Skytoucher to find them...
Kowan sat down in the chair that commander Burma had pointed out, but though there were two chairs available still, Kavar and Lugor remained standing without question.
"Thank you for receiving me so quickly. I hope that my urging did not insult you in any way, but you surely understand the matter or urgency in this, especially now that your captain is on board that Loxian savage vessel.
I believe that this whole situation must have puzzled you, so please allow me to explain you some things.
Loxius, our homeworld, was once a world of tribes. Many tribes. There was no unity, and each tribe only looked after its own best interests. Needless to say, the tribes were more often at war with each other, than they were not. Various attempts to end this war before it would destroy us all, failed. At long last, a project was finally getting started, to initiate a planetary government that would rule over all the tribes, with representatives of each tribe. And the goal of this government, was to create a good and safe environment for our people to live in again, on our homeworld. This was the first attempt that succeeded, and our government as it is today, was born on that day. Loxius is united, and our people do not even refer to tribes any more. After centuries now, they have forgotten that once they were different tribes, and now think themselves of ONE people, with ONE government. War and destruction was halted at long last. Too beautiful to be true, you may think? Not on Loxius, but for some people it is. They ignore everything we worked so hard on to build, and would give their lives to see our centuries long work destroyed. Needless to say, they neglect to follow any of the official Loxian laws, and for that they were exiled. And it is these people, who now hold your captain captive.
They reside mainly in the asteroid field of the Dark Passage, making it an unsafe place for anyone who is unlucky to be around. They raid any unfortunate passenger, and usually are not simply satisfied with the food and energy provisions of this passenger, but they want his entire ship and all his technology. Naturally, barbarians as they are, they simply kill the crewmembers of the ship they capture. I believe that, according to our government intelligence files, one of your ships was actually nearly destroyed by Loxians once, the U.S.S. Evolution, and its captain, Randall Sanchez, captured with two of his officers.
To conclude my explanation, I'm sure you understand now why we are here. We intend to create a safe environment once more, by taking away the aggressor: the Loxian exiles who raid every unfortunate being around. They only understand the language of firepower, so that is all we can use to fight them. But they are clever and cunning, I tell you that. Your captain is at great risk as we speak."
As soon as he was beamed back to the Skytoucher, along with the Loxians, medical personell had been all over him, and he had no choice but to go to sickbay for a complete check-up. They wanted to make sure that no harm had been done to him, be it injuries or perhaps viruses.
Indeed, viruses, because the Loxians were known to be very good at creating virus serum injections, for which no other species would ever be able to find a cure but themselves. But luckily, that had not been the case.
"Can I go now?" he said impatiently. "My place is on the bridge now more than ever! We're in the middle of a situation with the Loxian government, and I need to tell my crew what Zentox told me! They need to know the truth of the whole situation!"
OFF: thought that this would give the ship's doc something to do as well
=^= McKinley to Kowan =^=
"This is the captain of the USS Skytoucher. The Loxians we have on board, have requested asylum, which we have granted them. And apparently that was the only thing we COULD do, because any other option would mean their death at your hands!"
Siting confirmed, Commander. Seven Loxian exile ships have just emerged from the asteroid field and are converging on the Loxian government ships.
it's nature is unknown, but it is directly ahead of us.
should I continue on this heading?
Alright Lt. Mason, try to make a course correction and move out full impulse, once we clear the strange signal go to warp 8
Mason: Aye sir, warp 8.
Burma: with this correction, what is our new ETA?
Mason: well with the speed increase, we should get to Avalon in 29 hours
Burma: Lt. Robinson, watch your sensors closely.
Burma: Very well.
"Captain," he said as he sat down, "there are some important matters to discuss.
Some time ago, our other ship, the USS Evolution, has done some star mapping in a region called the 'Dark Passage'. This 'passage' is a small doorway, with on the left a huge asteroid field, and on the right a quantum singularity network. Inside this Dark Passage they discovered Vontak Nor, a Cardassian station, but one with friendly intentions.
But it is not about the Cardassians I speak.
This asteroid field is made very unsafe by Loxian raiders. Loxian encounters have thus far always been very hostile and aggressive. They usually do not listen to reason, and only know firepower to discuss things.
The USS Evolution has had a second contact with them, when one of their planets, north-west of the Dark Passage, appeared to be threathened by Species 8472 attacks. The USS Evolution has sealed the fluidic gate there, and the Loxians there can live at peace now.
This last event may very well be what has caused their latest decision. They have send a subspace transmission in where they officially state they wish to open peace negotiations. They no longer want hostilities to continue between Starfleet and the Loxian government, and they wish us to become allies instead of foes.
We know virtually nothing of this species, since we have never had the ability to actually talk with them, or visit their planets. Their technology and firepower is about as advanced as ours, and that has enabled them to keep us at arm's length.
Captain, I am sending you on this mission to the Loxian homeworld, so that you may open negotiations with this species. I am aware that this mission is not without danger, and that you will have to use all your diplomatic skills to avoid any negative confrontation, but I believe that with goodwill on both sides, peace can be possible.
I am deliberately sending you, and not the USS Evolution, because a ship they have fought before, might cause more of a stir than a ship they see for the first time. And this way we honour them by sending our flagship to them, showing that we are serious with our good intentions too.
Do you have any questions, captain?"
OFF: you may want to have a look at the stellar maps. Go to www.expansionfleet.com and to "databases" where you'll find them.
"It is great that I have Met You, Because your going to help me with the Loxians, thats if you want to. We can both use our diplimatic skills to do that. What do you say?"
Her symb was moving inside its pouch in the slowly twisting manner of anxiety. Sel stopped testing the EMH. She knew that whenever her symb acted that way, the least she could do is wait for the symb to "flash" its message to her mind.
The "flash" came soon enough. A "slide"--like an ancient form of Terran entertainment--showed unidentifiable beings running, screaming, and falling. There were bloodied bodies--some still moving, some still as death--all over.
Sel shuddered. Her hand shook as she tapped her commbadge: "To anyone on the Bridge, this is CMO Seldana Zax. Do you need my help up there?"
The young, lovely female adult Joined Beta Trill waited anxiously, her commbadge still on, to see if anyone would reply.
OFF: Made it through the hurricane. Lost power and water for a few days, but nothing major. Plenty of people I work with still don't have power, so I guess I got lucky...

Meanwhile, on the Loxian exile vessel Tazay...
McKinley:
"What you ask me, Mr. Zentox, is not an easy matter. I am a Starfleet officer, working for the United Federation of Planets, and we have to abide to the Prime Directive, which states that we should not involve ourselves in such matters."
Zentox sighs.
"So your Federation thinks it is right that we should get hunted all our lives, or get killed if we are unfortunate?"
McKinley:
"Mr. Zentox, I didn't say that. It's not because we have the Prime Directive, that there's nothing we can do. But right now, there's nothing that I can do myself. After all, this is an internal Loxian conflict, and I'm not authorized to participate in it. But what I can do for you, however, is make a whole report on the matter, and send it to Starfleet for review. Perhaps then, they will consider to give you aid. But it's not my decision, and I can't make any promises. If you send me back to my ship, I can explain my crew about the situation at hand, and contact Starfleet at once."
Zentox sighed again and leaned back in his chair.
"I promised that you would be returned to your ship when our conversation was over, captain McKinley, but there's a slight problem."
Captain McKinley looks suspicious at Zentox, who then continues to speak.
"At this moment, we have a distortion field surrounding our ship. It is taking the last of our resources to keep it up, and it is what prevents your crew and the Loxians from beaming you out, or all of us for that part. To beam you back, means we have to deactivate the distortion field, and that means lowering the last shield of defense we have. Once we beam you back, the Loxian government will have no reason to hold back their firepower and destroy us. And believe me, they WILL destroy us as soon as they get that opportunity. After all, our ship is dead in the water and our weapons are useless right now."
McKinley:
"So what you are saying is, that in fact I AM a prisoner on your ship right now? Or perhaps a hostage?" The captain felt anger surge up.
Zentox:
"No, no... please do not take it wrong. You are not our prisoner and hostage, and certainly we do not intend to do your harm. The Goddess Tazay knows, you are our last hope for survival! But another ship of our clan is on its way here now, to render us help. When that ship arrives, we can beam you back and get to safety ourselves. The problem is, we don't know WHEN this ship should arrive, but it should not take long any more for them to reach us."
OFF: this second Loxian vessel is going to arrive soon, so please dont beam the captain back until then, you will get an opportunity
"I apologize for that. I knew from the beginning that you would not have liked that, but we are only trying to survive, and waiting too long for something could get us killed. If your captain hadn't been on board our ship, those Loxian government vessels would already have blown us to pieces faster than you can say your own name. And besides, what else could we do?"
"Shields up Captain. We took damage to are secondary hull, at least one dead. The hull was breached, but the emergency forcefields are holding."
Commander, my sensors have been heavily damaged, but just before they went offline, I believe I detected an unidentified warp signature in the asteroid field. Attempting repairs.
"Captain, we have a problem on our hands. Several armed Loxian forces have just beamed over. They are heading to Engineering, the bridge and the weaponslocker on deck 6."
*Tries to remember why they would find weaponslocker 6 so valuable*
Lt. Robinson are you reading the same thing?
I want to know if we should steer clear of this signature.
Will pressed a few buttons.
"If it is a cloaked hostile vessel, I can't promise we'd survive a confrontation."
Na'jigat needs energy... Na'jigat Lords of the Galaxy...
ALERT! Na'jigat under attack! Telephatic energy hits on Na'jigat! Gallifreyans have detected us! Must depart now!
No not depart! Need energy from Skytoucher! Need energy from humans!
No... must depart! Gallifreyans too many! Normal space not strong enough to enable Na'jigat full strength to repel attack!
MUST NOT DEPART! MUST take energy from Skytoucher! With energy... we can repel attack from Gallifreyans!
No... must depart now! Normal space surroundings not strong enough... not as strong as core of galaxy!
MUST REPEL ATTACK! Na'jigat Lords of the Galaxy, space always strong enough for us! Repelling attack.......
NO MUST DEPART NOW, MUST---- ........ UNDER ATTACK! .... POWER DRAINED .... ENERGY LOST... GALLIFREYANS TOO MANY... TOO STRONG... LOST...
... I told you we could not stand against them...................................
As fast as the gate and the lightnings had appeared, as fast had everything returned to normal... the gate was gone, so were the lightnings, and space had turned back to normal.... The Skytoucher's sensors could detect a faint trail signal of some unknown ship... the Gallifreyans... who had already left at some incredible fast speed...
But though the Gallifreyans were long gone, an echo remained in the Doctor's head: "We saved you from the Na'jigat this time... but we're losing the war... Gallifrey is losing... and we need help..."
Yes, Greetings Commander Welcome aboard, please, have a seat *gestures towards the seat*
Now what did you wish to talk about?
*seeing Lt. robinson still waiting*
ah, Thank you Lieutenent you may return to your duties
"Commander Kowan, allow me to apologize for my actions earlier, I don't know what came over me
*puts his hand to his head*
I will hand over your prisoners in one hour. okay?"
*looks at his bridge crew*
are you hearing a loud buzzing sound? I can't concentrate or see clearly
*looks back at the screen*
" Commander Kowan wha?............" Burma collapses on the deck......
At that moment, the ship gets another impact of Loxian firepower. The lights flicker for a moment, and then all goes dark on the bridge. A few moments later, the emergency lights go on, and Commander Burma finds the captain unconscious on the floor, his head bleeding from falling against a panel.
OFF: this way he can be in sickbay until Yugiman returns to reclaim his role
status report, how are repairs coming?
I want weapons, warp and shields operational before we get attacked again!
Zentox stares at the screen, in full amazement.
"In name of the Goddess Tazay... we have been saved!"
And the Loxian exiles destroy the one of the government ships...
"My people, hear me! Do not fear, salvation is at hand! For years we have prayed to the Goddess Tazay, and she has heard our praises! Right when we were in the gravest need of help, when we were surrounded by darkness, she has sent us the light... Behold this ship I am on, the USS Skytoucher, and behold its commanding officer," he motiones Burma to come closer, "he is the man of the prophecy! The man who will bring a new age to our people, an age of peace and happiness, and an end to our sorrows! I call you all to pay honor to the Messenger from the Goddess Tazay, the Messiah! Thanks to him, me and my crew are still alive now! Thanks to him, we fought back Kowan and his troups! Thanks to him, there is again a chance for us to be free! Hail Burma! Hail Burma!
Now listen to my orders. He will bring me to the headquarters station of his people, where we will negotiate a peace pact between our people and his Sacred Starfleet! Behold the Messiah!"
Then, by way of reverence, Zentox turns to commander Burma and sits on his knees, bowing deeply in front of his new-found Messenger of the Loxian Gods.
OFF: how ya feel now Burma? :P
Agreed, go to yellow alert.
scan the area for romulan activity
(The Doctor sighs and walks slowly down to stand in front of the "gate" on the viewscreen.)
We, this ship, are very close to an ancient battle that only a very select fw in Starfleet are aware of. Top, top, tip-top secret. I am only telling you what you need to know, but more may become apparent if you enter the Orifice. I can only say that this is not your battle, and to enter the Orifice is to become more than you are and possibly more than you can handle. Whatever happens, you are NOT being attacted here. Leave now before irreperable damage is done."
Will went back to his tactical station.
"You fly in the face of a Loxian government offical? Then your Starfleet did not send the right diplomat, it seems! We have every right to demand those people to be returned to us! You are in Loxian space here, and it is according to our regulations, our every right to demand them back, and use force if needed.
Four more of our ships are heading this way as we speak, captain. You will surrender those Loxians to us, one way or another, or die together with them!"
Abruptly, Kowan terminated the comm-signal, and his ship, together with the other Loxian ships nearby, place themselves in a new strategical battle position, thereafter opening fire, all targetting the Skytoucher's warp nacelles.
The Skytoucher heavily shudders under impact, and warp drive is rendered useless...
*Goes back to work*
should the Skytoucher help out? or not?
ready weapons! fire at will!
"Recommend we go to yellow alert."
"Zentox, this isn't necessary, I could not have helped you without my crew, it is they who have saved your people. Please, I believe we are friends, and I don't think that you should respect me as a god, a simple thank you will suffice."
He turns to his crew signalling to cut the transmission, but they are smiling and snickering and shaking their heads as they think it is funny to see Burma being traeted like this
OFF: that was a tough one, Zentox lol
Sir, sensor readings are useless...This "gate" appears to go into another...parallel...universe. Although I can't confirm it, it seems to be the souce of the mental attack I sensed earlier. Again, I can't confirm this, but my mental impression is that they want the Doctor...at all costs...
Fascinating, Captain. There seems to be a host of dangers awaiting us in Loxian space. I suggest we deal with the most obvious danger first -- the Loxian exiles. Since they are known to have superior sensor technology -- and to ambush ships within the asteroid field -- perhaps we should modify our long-range sensors to emit maximum energy and focus them on the asteroid field. While this might announce our presence, it would also give us a chance to spot hostiles before they attempt to swarm down on us. It might also serve as a warning.
While this act could be interpreted as hostile on our part, I do not believe it would harm our negotiations, since it would be directed at Loxian "renegades" and not at the legitimate Loxian government.

Quote: from Loxians on 8:36 am on Oct. 7, 2003 Zentox sighs. He faced the Starfleet officer again. "I apologize for that. I knew from the beginning that you would not have liked that, but we are only trying to survive, and waiting too long for something could get us killed. "I can somewhat simpathize with what you did. I did something close, when I was a member of the "terrorist organization," The Maqui. We took a Cardassian Gul from his warship, and this protected are little vessel for a short time."

"Commander? What is that all about?"
(Edited by Skon at 3:40 pm on Oct. 18, 2003)
"Communications through the bridge are offline Cmdr. We'll have to go down to Engineering."
"All shots were a hit, sir. The Loxian ship is badly damaged. We still have the problem of the onboard Loxian soldiers, sir! They now have reached engineering and they will reach the bridge in several seconds."
*Rasmain begins to protect the designated structures*
"Two forcefields are in place, sir. They will only not last long, I rerouted energy from life-support, so we should try to take those soldiers out, quickly...or maybe our dear Loxian Captain has an other idea? Maybe telling your men to back off?" *Rasmain looked at the Loxian captain who was lying on the ground*
CMO Zax tapped her badge again: "Engineering, please see if you can find out what is wrong with the EMH known as 'The Doctor'. Please get back to me with an answer--if there is one--ASAP. Commander Zax out."
Off went Sel's badge. She made a few adjustments to the bio-scan. Her efforts were rewarded with very clear and very specific readings.
The readings Sel was getting now made her do a double-take. There was odd activity in the Captain's brain. Sel reactivated her badge.
"Sir", Sel told Burma, "there is inexplicable activity in the Captain's brain. I have narrowed it down to two possibilities: The Captain is either possessed--unlikely as it may seem--or some renegade Betazoid or other psionically powerful race is controlling him.
Furthermore, our EMH--the Doctor--has been exhibiting symptoms of being afflicted by some kind of virus or other disease. I have asked engineering to look into it.
In the meantime, I will continue treating the Captain, hopefully achieving a desireable result. Commander Zax out".
(( OOC: Since Sel was never told that Burma is acting CO, she merely addresses him as "sir" instead of "Captain".))
OFF: I will play the role of the Loxians in this mission, but since i will be on holidays, and thus not online until the 12th of august, take your time getting there =P See that by the 12th, you receive a distress call of a Loxian ship in distress.

"They should be here soon, commander. Thank you."
Then he follows Mr. Robinson down to engineering.
The bridge is filled with a yellow glow.
Will : "Scanning sir."
"I've detected a faint Romulan Signature, approx. 3 light years from here. That's strange, it just now appeared."
"I shall recall everyone later, I want to explore Avalon. Ill be on the Station. If you dont mind."

At that moment, Zentox steps forward and draws a weapon to Kowan's face.
"They will not destroy this ship, Kowan, because they know that you are on board. Call off your attack, or I will have the pleasure to kill you at last."
Kowan scowls.
"You wouldn't dare! And those Starfleet people wouldn't let you kill me while I'm in a defenseless position! So go ahead, and kill me - and turn your new-won ally into an enemy!"
Zentox stares at Kowan, and keeps his weapon aimed, but does not fire... yet.
"It was you, Kowan... You. You killed my wife with a smile, you took my children away from me... Don't you think I don't recognize the face of the one who raped and murdured my wife in front of my very eyes?"
Kowan smiles amused, and doesn't show one bit of fear.
"Oh I knew you would recognize me, Zentox, as I recognized you from the beginning. I have searched for you my entire life, ever since that day... When me and my ships attacked your ship at first, and I already knew you were on that ship, I would not have let one bit of you alive, I would have finished you when I had the chance!"
Zentox: "It doesnt seem like the odds for another chance are with you any longer, Kowan."
Kowan: "Don't be too sure, Zentox you barbarian! You will pay for what you have done to me! You will pay for the murder of my brother!"
Zentox: "Your brother brought death upon himself! He was after me and my people, and anyone who wanted to live in freedom at that. I had no choice but to kill him, or he would have killed me! What would you have done in my place?"
Kowan spat in Zentox' face, and Zentox strenghtens his grip on his weapon, his face turning red with fury.
"Go ahead and kill me, Zentox! KILL ME! But I am the only one who knows where your children are! I know which new names were given to them, I have access to their secret personal files! Kill me, and you will never know where they are, who they are! Oh, you should see them, two fine youngsters they have become, perfect examples of Loxian society - YOU COULD LEARN SOMETHING FROM THEM! Go on then, kill me!"
Zentox stares at Kowan, not knowing what to do.
At that moment, a control panel beeps, to state that all forcefields around the bridge have been deactivated - the Loxians have gained control over the ship from engineering. The turbolifts doors open, and armed Loxians storm into the bridge, aiming their weapons at anyone. But Zentox does not move.
"Kill any of my people, or of the crew of this ship, and your leader Kowan will die!" he cries out. Immediately, all Loxians come to a halt when they see he is serious.
Then Zentox turns to Kowan, and speaks with a softer tone.
"If I have to sacrifice the one and only chance to ever find my children back, in return for the saving of many lives on board this ship, don't think I wouldn't make that sacrifice, Kowan. At least, then you won't be there to prevent me from finding my children..."
If the Captain is fit for duty, please ask him to return to the bridge as soon as possible. Commander Burma has fallen ill and we are in a delicate situation.
=A= Skon out. =A=
At that moment, the ship shudders under heavy impact. The red alert claxons begin to blaze, and the ship gets another heavy shock. Captain McKinley falls on the floor, and gets himself back to his feet right away to sit down in the captain's chair.
"Looks like they are becoming impatient. Shields up, all decks, alert! Damage report, all stations?"
=^= Thank you commander, keep me posted =^=
"They still are avoiding contact Commander."
Doctor please explain this interuption on the bridge.
they are not responding to our hails, which means they probably dont want to talk.
She also took the time to change from her uniform to a simple, but attractive dress tailored for Joined Trills like herself. She changed behind sickbay's privacy curtain, then returned to her console on the Bridge. She still had her small, light duffle with her. It now contained her uniform, neatly folded and ready to be donned at a moment's notice.
Sel remained sitting at her console, waiting for the Captain and the Admiral to exit the ready room.
Captain,
I'm not sure if you have had time to review the personnel files since you came aboard, but I had some experience in the Vulcan Diplomatic Corps before I joined Starfleet. I am by no means an experienced negotiator, but I would welcome the opportunity to assist you and Mr. Niles in any way that I can.
<OFF: Check out my charater's profile.>
He hands commander Burma some sort of Loxian computer padd.
"On here you will find information on how their system works. I have marked the places that are most vulnerable on their ship, to disable them most effectively. This will also be of use if another of their ships arrives and engages the battle. If they use a disruption field to divert your targetting scanners, lock on here, and here, that should take their systems offline that create this disruption field. But it will not be easy, they are clever and their ships are smaller - thus far more maneuvrable. Here is a list of typical maneuvers they perform to avert firepower as well as to get close to your ship without getting hit - and then perform serious damage to you. I hope that this information will be of some help to you. As I represent our government, I hope that you will consider this a sign of our willingness to cooperate with your Federation."
How are you feeling, sir?
(Edited by Skon at 10:30 pm on Oct. 12, 2003)
"d*mn."
Are you sure it was Romulan?
what the devil could they be doing out here.
raise shields and ready weapons
OFF: I am assuming the skytoucher crew doesn't know about the romulan coalition activity.
"Nooooo!"
*The Doctor gets up and runs out of the Sickbay toward the turbolifts. Hurriedly he rides to the Bridge just as Skon is noticed to be slumped over.*
"Stop! Don't fire the weapons! I know these people! They will mean you no harm!!"
well, since the increase in speed, uh, about 2 days 5 hours 12 minutes 46 seconds... 45 seconds...44 seconds...
"Alright, Take it on Condition Yellow. Set a course for that distress call."
"Ravix to Zentox, we are responding to your distress call. I can already see why. It is a miracle that those Loxian government vessels haven't outright destroyed you yet. Drop your disruption field and we'll beam you over at once."
Zentox: "We have a captain on board from another species, he's from that huge ship over there. That's the reason why they didn't destroy us yet, because they want him back alive."
Ravix: "Do you want us to beam your hostage over to our ship as well then?"
Zentox: "He is not our hostage! He is our last hope, and I don't want any harm to be done to him!"
Ravix: "Understood. Drop your disruption field and we'll beam you over at once. We can always talk later."
Moments thereafter, the Tazay drops its disruption field, so that transporting anyone off that ship becomes possible again.
But before the other ship can beam them out, the Loxian government ship of Prime Commander Kowan moves into position to attack the newly arrived Loxian ship, and opens fire. A salvo of torpedoes slams onto the smaller Loxian vessel. The Loxian vessel tries to evade as much as possible, but Kowan's ship does not give it a chance to escape. As Kowan's ship changes position, he fires off another salvo of torpedoes, this time to be fatal to the Loxian exile ship.
The newcoming Loxian exile ship explodes, killing all 135 people on board.
"Kowan to USS Skytoucher. Beam your captain out of that ship NOW! This is your only chance to get him back alive!"
Hmmm..he seems to have acute aphasia (Dysfunction of certain brain centers affecting the ability to communicate in a coherent manner)
*takes out a hypospray*
this should take care of that.
Commander?... commander? can you hear me? *taps Burma's cheeks slightly*

Modulating phaser frequency to match Loxian shields. Mr. Robinson, I believe that if you fire at the points Commander Zentox suggested a second time, we may achieve better results.
Also, as the Captain is incapacitated and the First Officer seems to be busy, I am transmitting a message to Station Avalon, informing them of our situation.
=A= Skytoucher to Avalon =A=
We are in a situation of distress. We "captured" the crew of a Loxian renegade ship that abducted Captain McKinley. The Loxians promptly requested asylum. Apparently, they have some grievances with their government that they explained to the Captain while he was aboard their ship. Unfortunately, the Loxian military wants these "prisoners" back, and their ships have attacked us. Request assistance immediately.

"So, what's it going to be? Will you withdraw your people and depart from this ship peacefully? Or do you rather want to die in your pride?"
Kowan stares for the longest time at Zentox, and then slowly turns his gaze to his people, standing there in doubt about what to do, but ready to overtake the bridge if Kowan but gave the word.
But he didn't.
He raised one hand and lowered it, signaling to his men to lower their weapons and surrender.
"You win, Zentox, at least this time..."
"Your Highness, your cloths are invisible!"

Greetings Everyone
Niles Walks over to Lt. Landon who is doing a diagnostic
Greetings Lt. I trust all is well?
Niles quickly goes back to his seat on the Bridge and begins to think about these upcoming peace talks
(( OOC: Not sure if Sel saw the Captain being beamed off to the Loxian "exile" ship.))
Sel's symb was twisting once again in its pouch, as if it was full of questions.
(( OOC2: Sorry it took so long for me to post. Lots of RL stuff going on that I've had to deal with.))
"Then you must know what I mean. Please, do take time to listen to our story. You will find it very similar to what those Loxian government people will tell you, and yet very different. All we are trying to do, is survive. Survive, and to fight for our freedom. Would you do anything else, if you were in my place?"
I have been analyzing possible threats in this area and I think that the Skytoucher is in danger here. Since we are so close to the asteroid we are primed for trouble. There is an 80% chance that we could be over-run, and boarded, I also believe that this "asylum" is just a cover for there possible take-over. If not someone prove me wrong
*takes a look around to the crew*
"Well, I wonder why this isn't working? I guess I'll go back to Sickbay..."
(Walks obliviously back to Sickbay without seeing the red alert lighting.)
"I wonder where everyone is...?"

Sickbay
The doors open and Skon enters the Sickbay. He looks around and catches the eye of a young Ensign.
Skon: Ensign, has the Captain been prepared for transport to Station Avalon?
Ensign: Yes, sir.
Skon: Very well. We shall proceed. Please make certain that all of the Captain's medical records are transferred to the station as well.
Ensign: Already done, sir...We...I...hope he will be okay.
Skon: Hope is illogical, Ensign, but I share your concern. These are dangerous times, and it would be...unfortunate...if Starfleet lost one of its best officers. But the Captain is resilient and the medical facilities on Station Avalon are excellent, so the chances of the Captain's recovery are quite good. Now, let's get him over there so he can receive some help.
=A=Skon to transporter room=A=
Two to beam to Avalon's Medical Center.
=A= Skon Out=A=
Skon and the Captain dissolve into the ether
As for your situation, I think that we can accomodate you and anyone you wish to bring aboard. That treaty idea sounds like a great thing that could help out this region. You are welcome to stay aboard our ship as my personal guest, so anything you need you can have.
*he turns towards his crew*
Once the Loxians have been safely transported off this ship set coordinates for Avalon, warp 3.
Ohh, and how is our Captain doing?
=^= Burma to sickbay status on Captain McKinley, has he been revived ? =^=
Will raised the ship alert to red.
Com : "RED ALERT RED ALERT, WE ARE AT RED ALERT."
The wondered yellow glow turned to the nervous red glow.
Will : "Shields and Weapons ready Commander."
maybe after this mission you might get a promotion:)
I am sorry I must have been caught up in all the excitement on the station.
*the ship moved up to warp 6*
A couple minutes later...
Will took one last observation of the bridge crew, and made a discrete exit.
"Shields and weapon systems at full sir."
OFF2: I haven't noticed Yugiman around for awhile. ):
"Very well, commander, thank you for listening. One last point I wanted to tell you, before I return to my ship. If their second ship arrives before you have been able to beam your captain back, let us agree that my ships will deal with the newcoming ship. This way, you can keep focussing on getting your captain back before it is too late, as the ship he is on is dead in the water anyway, and we will only have to worry about disabling their second ship, before they can do any damage to us.
Do you agree with that, commander?"
"I have told my story over and over again, to whoever will listen, and I will tell it again to you now.
Loxius has been governed by a planetary government for a long time, long before I was born even. This government was an attempt to unite all the Loxian tribes on our homeworld, and to end the everlasting fights between the tribal chiefs.
The fights ended, allright, and the government ruled strict to keep it so. But power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The government began to abuse their powers, and they began to profile themselves almost like gods!
Life on our homeworld was reformed into what THEY wanted it to be. No other opinion or lifestyle was allowed any longer, and would not be tolerated. They would not tolerate anyone to oppose them, so that they would remain unrivaled forever. And they succeeded at that, even up to today. People live under a dominating rule on Loxius, and are not allowed to be who they are, think what they want, do what they want.
Even worse: if you presume to oppose the government in any way at all, you are punished severely. Either that means death sentence, or exile. And I am the latter.
Those Loxian ships would like nothing more than to see me dead, because I don't the way they do, I don't do what they want me to do. I am exiled for being who I am, for wanting to be free. And though I gained that freedom through exile, it costed me my wife, who was murdered in front of me, and my children who are now brainwashed and government puppets, and I will never see them again I suppose. And my freedom has yet another price: my life has now but one purpose, which is SURVIVE. I am, as well as all other Loxian exiles you see here, chased until we die, and if we don't die because of that, its because of lack of food. Harsh conditions make a man harsh too. So I hope that you understand now, why we did what we had to do."
Will heard Roland step from the Captain's Ready Room, and listened to what he had to say.
"That does seem plossible Cmdr."
(Edited by Will Robinson at 8:46 pm on Oct. 17, 2003)
I want a full ship wide status report, every station and department please check your systems and make sure no other problems exist with this ship.
they wont talk to us, we cannot see them, what are we to do?
keep hailing them Mr. Robinson. prepare phasers give them a warning shot across their bow.
=^=Battlestations!=^=
OFF: Welcome back Skon, you've missed some interesting things that hapened.:)
Then he looks at the VIP quarters as the doors open.
"Oh, very nice. Your people treat me better than I deserve, perhaps."
He walks in and looks around.
"I have never seen such a luxury room, since the times I was still on Loxius, and I ambushed some government officials in their very own chambers... they live just like this, while their people hardly survive. Let alone us exiles! A room like this would be inhabited by at least 10 of us!"
Captain, I'm reading a large power surge from one of the Loxian ships.
* Out of the corner of his eye, Skon caught the faint glimmer of what seemed to be a transporter beam. In an instant, the Captain was gone. Skon looked up. *
Red alert. Commander Burma, the Captain appears to have been abducted.
OFF: Well, you said he disappeared...
*walks onto the bridge and tells all the senior staff of the plan*
OFF: read the previous posts
Reporting, sir. The tactical situation is unchanged. All ships are holding their positions. Despite what the Loxians said, we are currently detecting no other ships in the area. However, if another Loxian renegade ship is approaching from the asteroid field, we would be unlikely to detect it before it was almost on top of us.
Mr. Marotek and his crew are attempting to adapt our transporters to beam through the Tazay's distortion field, but he estimates that it will take at least two hours to complete the modifications.
As for the battle plan, I have to say that the Loxian Prime Commander seems to have a very well constructed plan of attack. Perhaps too well constructed. Logically, it should work, but I have to ask you if -- as a human -- you trust him.
"But... but... doctor!"
But Dr. Soran didn't hear him any more.
"Any other doctor here? Or am I really going to have to activate the EMH?"
"Our sensors state you are suffering serious damage. There is no way you can take out all our ships, while you are in much more trouble on your own already. Turn over the Loxian prisoners, and we will cease fire at once. Are you really prepared to die for them?"
*he leaves for engineering having sat on the bridge through the whole hostage situation*
*several minutes later he reached engineering and signalled back*
=^= Lt. Commander Marotek here sir, all systems check out fine sir, although there is a small variance in the power output of the warp engines =^=
"Oh my poor head...oof!"
(He walks over to Doctor Zax next to the captain.)
"Doctor, I've just had a telepathic warning from our captain here. He says
his mind seems to be out of his body at the moment and he warned me that the
ship may be destroyed if we continue on our present course. We must alert
the bridge."
(The Doctor falls into a restorative trance/coma after he says these words.)
In truth, as soon as he had felt the mental probing from the unknown aliens, his Vulcan mental shield had slipped into place. But the probes were too forceful for him to hold them off for long. To protect his mind, he put himself into the T'laug -- a sort of waking coma that completely blocked his mind off from the outside world.
Within his mind, he could feel the aliens probing and waiting. He couldn't understand any details, but he knew they were about to attack the ship. The mental pressure was intense. He knew he had to warn the captain.
Aargh!
Skon screamed and fell to the floor
Sir...there is...something...out there...more than Romulan...great telepathic ability...The Doctor...
"This... Loxian mining vessel Tazay... seriously damaged... need assistance... please help... our coordinates... border of asteroid field... We were attacked by..."
And the signal ends.
Will walks the Cmdr and his escorts back to the transporter room.
"I look forward to see you again Cmdr, at a more relax time."
all I had was a coffee at 1200 hours
the ship lurtched one way then the other as the thrusters blasted from port and starboard sides.
they are persueing, I will try to compensate, they're firing again! "brace for impact!"

there are hull breaches on decks 10,11,12,13, and 2, forcefields are in position, shields are steady at 67%
"Seems its up to me. Hmm.. where would I keep a medical bag if I were me? Oh yes..."
(The Doctor goes to a nearby cupboard and finds a stash of candy.)
"Wrong cupboard, but I'll remember this when I have a sweet tooth..."
(The Doctor finds an idle medic bag with medical tricorder and trauma additions. He scoops up an assortment of tranquilizer and runs for the turbolift and the Bridge.)
"This running thing is becoming a habit..."
"If you're comfortable Zentox, I should be getting back to the bridge."
"No response to are hails Sir."
=A= Lt. Cmdr. Skon to Avalon Medical Department. =A=

Smiles, "Probably not. Please, tell me your story."
Will detects torpedo heading for the Skytoucher.
"A torpedo is coming straight at us. Brace for impact!"
Analyzing scans, sir. I may be able to find a way to defeat the Loxians' shields, but it will take some time.
*Raising an eyebrow, Skon looks up at Zentox*
Sir, if you have any knowledge of Loxian technology that could help us, I would appreciate it.
Will went to the Comm Station. He pressed a dew buttons.
"Channel is open Zentox."
We used up 50% of are phaser power, during the Loxian Confrontation. With are reserve power I was able to get power back up to 60%.
We have a total of 200 torpedoes left on board.
Repairs have already begun on getting all the torpedo tubes and phaserbanks back online.
Mr. Niles walks onto the bridge of the USS Skytoucher
Ah yes that was quite the excellent meal at the Klingon restaurant don't you say Mr. Skon?
And Captain? We sure missed your company at the Restaurant, perhaps another time?
OFF: I hope Niles being over excentric is not too annoying
wha...what happened ??
"I suggest you target their ships here... and here... that is where their targetting sensors are aligned, and causing damage there, will get their weapon systems into chaos-"
At that moment, the torpedo hit on the USS Skytoucher, more particularly on one of the warp nacelles, as the Loxian ships still attempted to disable the starship's warp capability. When the smoke finally cleared again on the bridge, it could be seen on the viewscreen -though with distortions - that two other Loxian ships were dropping out of warp and placing themselves in battle positions.
The voice of Kowan resounded through the room.
"Don't think you can get away with this that easily, Skytoucher! You WILL return those Loxians to us! Three more of our vessels have neared, and yet more are coming. Your warp drive is dead. It seems you have ran out of options!"
"Sir, Cmdr Kowan is sitting comfortably in the brig."
Will turned to Zentox.
"What will happen now Zentox?"
"Let me know if you need anything."
Will headed back for the bridge.
Not Long Later...
Will went over to the tactical station.
"Anything to report Ensign?"
Ensign: "No sir. Everything is going smoothly."
Will took the tactical station over from the slightly green Ensign.

uh, yes it quite exciting mr. Niles. I believe that a peace mission is one of the greatest things we can do for the federation. It gives us a chance to make new friends, and possibly new technology.
OFF: Seldana Zax: thanx for letting us know.
I believe that it was something you ate or drank that caused this
The bridge shook.
"Primary weapon power offline, switching to auxilary."
"Cmdr, Mr Zentox has sent the distress message to his people."
Then he turns to Robinson.
"My people will return to one of our ships.
As for me, I have requested to travel to your headquarters station, to discuss a possible treaty between your people, and mine.
Could I speak to the commanding officer of one of our ships? I would like to informe them of the situation at hand."
Burma: Computer! mute voice!
Com: affirmative
*the voice warnings were quiet now*
Burma: double check the signature and try to hail them, Mr. Robinson don't fire unless fired upon.
This gate might be peaceful or something like that but we cannot jeopardize this ship.
We must continue on to the station.
increase to warp 9. engage!
Mason: Aye sir warp 9
*the ship slowly turned to it desired heading and began jumping to warp*
Burma: Is there any threat that whatever is on the other side of the gate is dangerous to us?

"Can someone restore the gravity systems of the ship?" Zentox calls out. "I just had the situation under control!"
Looking at the CO, XO, and her crewmates Sel says: "My symb is acting kind of funny. Is there some kind of emergency that requires my attention?"
Sel tapped her badge off. She stood at full attention, waiting for a reply, if any.
That move would be inadvisable, Commander Kowan. I do not yet understand the settings on this weapon -- so I don't know if your men came on board prepared to stun or kill. Certainly, I would not want to kill you inadvertantly, should a struggle break out. Therefore, I suggest you tell your troops to continue to stand down...

With her free hand, she tapped her commbadge: "Doctor, this is chief medical officer Commander Seladana Zax. Bring a few tranq hypos to the Bridge. There are intruders here.
