"Well, to begin with, after the command shake-up on the starship I was serving on, I felt a little lost. I was on the bridge when Admiral Vorak took command of all the starships to prevent a mutiny by a few of the fleet's command staff. I never found out why they decided to mutiny, but Vorak had complete control the whole time. Never doubt the man."
Vonter nodds his head in agreement, "I remember that day. So, what happened to you then?"
"I was on the bridge, like I said, when the Admiral beamed aboard and gave us a temporary commander until he could resolve the captaincy situation. I was surplus to requirements, so I wondered back to Sickbay. I checked with my personal equipment in my, um, ship, and I found that I was needed urgently elsewhere for an emergency.
I left the ship, intending to return before I was missed, but after many adventures I returned a little late. I suppose Admiral Vorak will have words for me. He is always understanding, though. He knows how big the universe really is."
The Doctor stands up suddenly, smiles, and rubs his hands with evident joy.
"So! Do you have any of that Saurian brandy around the place?" He glances at Keilah, who has raised an eyebrow in puzzlement and concern. "Purely for medicinal purposes, of course," the Doctor adds hurriedly.
"Ah, yes, the Celtic Corner! I haven't been there in ages!"
He starts for the door, then turns sharly around and says to Vonter, "You will call me when Admiral Vorak has an assignment for me, won't you?, sir? I'd hate to keep the Admiral waiting. I'll just report in to the duty officer and then pop in at the CC. Per your suggestion, of course. Maybe you can join me later?"
