The only novel I've read is, 'Pathways' (Voy). It gave you insight on most the character's past. Jeri Taylor wrote it, which is good.
In my mind, the only stories classified as FC are ones you download off people's sites. Also, if the authors name isn't a real name like Yugiman's ID for instance, it's most likely FC.
Do any of you guys read fan fiction? At the momment, I only read Star Trek and Smallville fiction. More Smallville, then Star Trek. Right now, the only Star Trek stories I'm reading are part of the Voyager Virtual Season Eight. They're not bad so far.

I have read the books 'Dark Matters'(Voyager), 'The Genesis Wave'(TNG), 'The Brave and the Bold' (all series combined), and 'First Frontier'(TOS). I dont know if officially authourized books count as fan-fic, but its really all I've read ST-wise.

You should try some, they aren't that bad. Well, most of them anyways. I've ran into a few NC-17 stories, but haven't seen alot of them. If you want to try some, I suggest starting at fanfiction.net, it's full of it. Not just ST, there's tons of other topics too.
im not sure what u classify then as but i've read "DS9: The lives of Dax" and right now i'm reading "ST Voyager Homecoming, Book1" Both pretty good. But i have hardly any time 2 read.
