Holosuites / Phaser Range
July 30, 2004, 04:26:50 PM
*Forest Night enters the phaser range, thinking well there is a first time for everything. He picks up a compression rifle recommended by the other cadets.

Forest Night: Computer begin phaser efficiency test.

Computer: Begin.

*Forest begins firing at the stationary phaser targets. During his phaser practice he swears to himself that he sees a blurry image attempt to materialize. He misses several targets.*

Computer: Round 2 Moving Targets begin.

*Forest once again begins to fire at the moving target drones and once again sees a blurry image attempt to appear. This time he swears that the image looked like Natalie, the holographic clerk from the Student Activity Center in the Academy. He misses all but one of the targets.*

Computer: Round 3 Targets return fire. Attempt to dodge phaser bolts. Begin.

*Forest takes aim at the moving targets, however this time the image of Natalie clearly materializes and appears as if she is trying to communicate to him. Forest is hit several times by phaser fire from the targets and misses every target in the third round. Her image fades in and out, but he swears that she was mouthing the words, help me.

Computer: Cadet you have received an unsatisfactory efficiency score of 21%. Please choose a remedial phaser practice program next time you utilize the holodeck for phaser practice.

Forest Night: Computer, that's not fair. I was distracted by Natalie.

Computer: My senses do not indicate the presence of another life form on the Holodeck.

Forest Night: It was the holographic clerk, Natalie from the Student Activity Center.

Computer: My data banks show no such record of the afore mentioned program.

*Forest Night leaves the holodeck program upset with his low score and more confused than ever. He begins to wonder if the pressure of his course load at the Academy is causing him undue stress. He decides to report the incident to the academy CO.

Forest Night: Excuse me, I have been told that I have a message in the commander's office. I will be right back.

**Forest exists the bar and heads for the commander's office, only to return moments later with a look of glee.**

Holo Bartender: Well, Mr Night, What will it be another glass of ale?

Forest Night:  No Thanks, I just came back to say goodbye. I have been accepted into Star Fleet Academy.
I am to head for Space Station Avalon immediately.

Holo Bartender: Congraulations and good luck Mr. Night. I hope to see you again.

Forest Night: Thank you. I am sure you will see me again, but I need to be off for now. Goodbye friend.

**Forest Night exists the bar and heads for a Run-about.

Forest Night: Barkeep, may I have another glass of ale?

Holo Bartender: Right away sir. Mr. Night, What brings you to DS18?

Forest Night: Well, I have been somewhat of a nomad all my life. Even at a young age, I never seem to remember remaining in one sector of space very long. I was only sixteen, when my mom disappeared at a failed deep space colony. I was picked up by a Ferengi Cargo Ship with some other colonists. We were on our way back to the colony, when the Ferengi's hailed us and told us there was nothing left of the colony.

*Forest cast his head down and glances at the bar**

Holo Bartender: Borg?

Forest Night: Who Knows? Does it matter? How a whole deep space colony can disappear is one that no one, not even the Federation can quite figure out. Can we change the subject?

Holo Bartender: Sure, What are your plans now?

Forest Night: I have decided to apply to Star Fleet Academy. I reported to the Division Commander's Office to sign up for the Academy. Rear Admiral Hardin told me that I was welcome to remain on the station until he heard from the Academy on Station Avalon.

Holo Batender: Well, I can assure you, you have made a good choice for a career path. Star Fleet Academy has a lot to offer.

Forest Night: So I have heard. I am anxious to get started. Who are those people at the corner table?

Holo Bartender: Commodore Riker, Commodore Lurado, Lt. Commander Scott, Captain O'Neal and a couple of civilians, like yourself. Why don't you go introduce yourself?

Forest Night: I don't know. They seem engrossed in their conversation. I don't want to intrude.

Holo Batender: I assure you Mr. Night, you will find most of the crew and residents on this station quite friendly.

**Forest remains seated at the bar and takes another sip from his fresh glass of ale.**

** Forest Night walks into the bar to get a drink. **

** Mr. Night begins to walk behind the bar and suddenly the Holographic Bartender appears. **

Holo Bartender: How may I help you?

Forest Night: Can I get a glass of Romulan Ale?

Holo Bartender: As I will tell you and have repeatedly told other crew members, we don't serve Romulan Ale, it is against Star Fleet Regulations.

Forest Night: Easy, Easy, Barkeep, just give me a glass of regular ale, but I want the stuff you keep under the bar.

Holo Bartender: Very well sir, but don't blame me if you wake up with a hangover tomorrow morning.

Forest Night: I promise I will take full responsibility for my condition in the morning. You know, I use to tend bar for a Ferengi.

Holo Bartender: I assure you my programming is quite sufficient to take care of the needs of the crew on this station.

Forest Night: Don't get so defensive. I am not out to see you deactivated. I have a special bond with you holotypes. By the way, I am Forest Night.

Holo Bartender: Good to meet you Mr. Night and how is it that you have a special bond with holographic images.

Forest Night: My mom loves to tell people the story of how her water broke in a Holodeck Suit during the middle of a simmulation. First face I saw as a child wasn't even real.

Holo Bartender: I assure you Mr. Night I am quite real. I may not be a carbon based life form...

Forest Night: Slow down big guy. I didn't mean any offense by it. I am just trying to get to know some people and afraid I haven't started off on a very good foot. Can we start over.

Holo Bartender: Fine, It's nice to meet you Mr. Night

Thank you, Sir! I am interested in becoming a security officier eventually. I am very inexperienced but eager to learn. I hope to start training as soon as possible. I would be more than happy to fill in temporaliy anywhere you need help. I did put down that I had some bartending experience and would be more than happy to help in that capacity or anywhere else you needed me until I am accepted at the acadamey.

I am willing to work hard and report for duty on a regular basis, Sir. I don't mind working my way up from the bottom.

Off: While I lack experience in this rpg, I would also be happy to eventually assist as a teacher at the academy after graduation. I have ten years experience teaching public school.

Rear Admiral:

Since I am an untrained civilian, I am requesting enrollment in Star Fleet Academy. At present, I don't feel qualified for an officiers position. Please note: I have a business commitment that will keep me from posting between June 30 and July 8. Unfortunately for those days I will be outside of communications range.

Thank you, Sir! You have made me a very happy man. I am on my way to Station Avalon (Star Fleet HQ). Nothing could please me more than knowing a position on the station is waiting for me when I return. I promise, I will not disappoint you, sir. Thank you again, sir.

Forest night checking in with the Commander. I was wondering if you have heard from the Academy at Station Avalon about my request for admission. I am very anxious to get started on my training. I am eager to trade in my civilian duds for a Star Fleet uniform. I am a little bored hanging out at Bottoms Up on DS18, but I do seem to have befriended the Holo Bartender.

Rear Admiral

I am once again in communications range and reporting for duty. I am interested in attending Star Fleet Academy. I am waiting for further instructions concerning my request. Please advise me of the necessary steps that I need to take and the appropriate message boards I should check for further instructions.

Flag Admiral's Office / Rank Title Adjustments
July 15, 2004, 03:03:51 PM
Good day, Sir. I am Forest Night, a new cadet at the Academy. I came on board at the Epsilon Station, where I submitted a request to attend Star Fleet Academy. Rear Admiral Harden supplied me with a Runabout to get to Star Fleet Academy. I reported in at the CO's office as a new student. Captain Archer sent me to your office to request a title adjustment from civilian to first year cadet. He told me I could change my avatar on my own, but that I would need to see you about a title adjustment. I hope that I selected the appropriate avatar for a first year cadet. Thank you, sir and I apologize for disturbing you, sir. I know how busy you are, sir.
