Loxian Space / The Revolt of Loxius
May 20, 2006, 02:01:10 AM
"Hello, Ardeth.  I haven't seen you in years." the person said, stepping out from the shadows.  "Malcolm?!  I thought they killed you after I left!  Well, there's nothing good I've heard about you.  Can't control your blood hunger, can you?" Ardeth said, wishing silently that Blaze wouldn't hold it against him for keeping this secret. "Well, you certainly haven't changed.  I come looking around and see the shiny shuttle here.  I figured you'd be on it.  Though the tin can there isn't looking too well." Malcolm said, being a pain.  Ardeth growled.  "I may have something to offer, a painless ending to your suffering.  I can't bring myself, however, to kill anyone.  Not without reason." Ardeth said, relaxing, hoping Blaze would be kind enough to end his brother's suffering.  Malcolm was just flesh, blood, and bone.  He'd be easy to kill, but Ardeth wished to see that it was painless.

Ardeth lifted the other child up, ignoring the battering of fists on his powerful chest.  "Just wondering." Ardeth said.  "I'll race you back to the shuttle." he said, knowing they were both equal, and he had pent up energy for this.  He winced as the kid he held struck him in the jaw, and growled softly.  "I'm not like the other.  I'm kinder.  I swear it by my life." Ardeth said, knowing his brother.

"I'll go quietly, so long as I can see Ardeth in my last moments.  I'll go only if I can be with Ardeth for my last time.  We will see each other again, in death.  I know it.  If you make it painless, I'll go quietly, without a word.  What be my choices of death?" Malcolm asked.

Ardeth knew he was being asked a mighty big favor, one he'd have to go and follow up with, as he was being asked by a brother who wished for death as he knew this brother of his had been tortured.  He saw the scar across his furry chest from a whip.  The scar across his left eye.  The missing fingers on the right hand.  Snapped claws, a broken fang.  Ardeth fell down weeping softly for his brother's pain, the suffering he'd been through.  Malcolm gently lifted Ardeth's head to look at him.  "I know my pain has ended now.  As brothers, we're bound by blood.  We have a seat reserved in the Council of the Heavens." Malcolm said, speaking of the place all Hybrids believed they'd go.

Ardeth sprinted, reaching full speed easily, agile movements letting him dodge small objects in his way.  The child stared, amazed that Ardeth didn't tire at all from this.  Blood dripped slowly from a slightly bruised jaw from the young child's punch, but he didn't care right now.  He was leading Blaze back to the ship.  He didn't see his brother there, waiting.

Ardeth snarled, hating his 'perfect' brother already.  He got the fun stuff while Ardeth was dumped on watch duty.

"Scans say the prisoners are on... the surface, sir." Ardeth said, pulling his cloak sleeve over the bright screen of the wrist computer.  He leapt again, his tail giving him supreme agility and balance surpassed only by gyroscopes, which didn't let him tuck and roll when he needed to.  A bright green beam shot from his gloved right hand, leaving nothing but ash from the guard foolishly looking at him.  This blew away easily.  Growling softly, he flashed a signal to Blaze, near invisible.  the dim light glinted against his 4 metal fangs, sitting with a mouthful of real teeth.  He wanted fangs when those 4 were taken out from battle damage.  2 flashes, an all clear.

Ardeth's mechanics buzzed ominously: his claws were stuck outside again.  "Looks like I'll have to keep these out." he grumbled.  "No patrols.  One guard, sleeping.  Would you prefer me to keep him asleep?" he said, holding a small sleeping gas bomb in his hand; he still had a few from the backwater planet that he hadn't used yet.  He glared at the fence, solid stone.  "Can't burn through this without Hal.  How is he, Hal, is he all right?" Ardeth asked, as a loving father might about a long unseen son.  He held the small gray ball in his hand, waiting.

Ardeth aimed, and took out the 4 hinges with well aimed laser bursts.  He then grasped the door, punctured the metal with his claws, and helped Blaze wrench it free, pulling with half strength, saving energy in case of need.

Ardeth sat down and shut down the cameras entirely.  He then leapt the 20 foot tall wall, and slid to the ground, claws out entirely, all 20. (toes and fingertips have claws) He caught up to Blaze at the intersection.  "Did one better, knocked out all the cameras for the prison.  That way we go in unnoticed.  Started a loop on it.  That way they think the same thing's happening, just merely a normal night." he whispered, those dark leather gloves tight around his hands as he made sure they were turned up high enough to cut defenses out from under people.  He narrowed the beam, and then lowered the power.  They'd require less of his energy to do the same damage.  "Focus and decrease." he whispered to himself.

James extended his claws, both on hands and feet.  He scaled the wall, and scanned, trying to locate things.  "Bloody mechanical claws!" he grumbled, as his left index claw failed to retract.  He pushed it back in.

Ardeth snarled, tired of all this guard work.  He then saw, just at the edges of his vision, a guard sneaking up on him.  One laser burst killed him.  Ardeth, however, wasn't faring so well.  His energy was about to peak, then fade rapidly.  He called Blaze.  "I'm running low.  Won't last much longer.  Need a recharge." were the words sent over the comm, as Ardeth's laser weapons fizzled out, his claws jammed up, and he felt the strain of 2 weeks of constant on catch up with him.

Ardeth jumped.  He'd expected to see sentries and lots of metal.  He saw what looked like a video camera, though he knew it wasn't operational.  Primitive barbed wire kept any chance of vaulting the wall low.  blood was everywhere.  Ardeth growled softly: he recognized some of the blood's scent as being another Hybrid.  "If that little bit of blood I smell happens to be Hybrid blood, we've got trouble." Ardeth whispered, calming down.

Ardeth's eyes glowed yellow with fury as he took his laser glove and fired a powerful burst that swept away a lot of Loxian Soldiers. He growled out, "That's for my family's honor."  He cranked up the power on the glove, and fired, blowing up a tank and taking out a group of soldiers.  "And that is for my brother." he said.  He reached to his left arm, pressed a button, and whispered, "Hal!  Can you hear me?!"  A crackly voice came through the minorly damaged speaker, "Yes, I can, father.  I'm coming to you.  Just give me a while to find you, and I'll be there." Hal told him through the speaker.  A splash of midnight blue light illuminated the dark shell of Hal 2000 as he motored up to Blaze and Ardeth.  "You called." came his small, quiet voice as he picked up a small weapon.  "Downloading files to operate this weapon.. Complete." he said, pumping lots of weapons fire out there, a small laser type weapon doing damage.

"Locks, best when cooked well." Ardeth said, tapping that laser glove.  Ardeth's speedy walk was keeping up with Blaze's run.  He could sprint rapidly, reaching rather amazing speeds.  "I'm also good at knocking doors over, but it's loud.  I've looped the cameras, when I hacked the system, so they'll not see us sneak in, do our job, and slip out, racing back to our starting spot.  And how will we get back, the fighter, or the Transporter?"  Ardeth spoke softly.

Ardeth grinned, scenting Blaze, and leapt lightly, landing softly and silently on the other side.  He aimed a laser gloved hand at a guard who had seen him, and silenced him before he could speak.  He then slowly worked his way around, silencing those that saw him.
