Family/ Personal History
Givrillian Sarpedon was born to two wealthy humans on the planet Earth, though this is not where he spent the majority of his life.  His parents ran a freight company by the name of Sarpedon Cargo, and would often take Givrillian with them on their voyages. On such voyages, you Givrillian was taught on the basic operations of each of the firms vessels, some of which were quite modern, with technology approaching that used on the slightly lower starfleet ships. He learned how to use the ships small defences which were permitted on non-military vessels, he learned how to handle things in engneering, and how to monitor the ship's sensors and shields. But his favorite station on any of his parents ships was helm. Givrillian soon started to take a more active role in his parents firm, becoming a stong addition to the crew of any ship they were aboard, and enjoying himself thoroughly. One day, in Givrillian's teens, they were piloting the Dignified towards a space station in one of the more busier areas of the Alpha Quadrant, when another freighter pulled up along side and challenged the Dignified to a friendly race to the station, to which Givrillian took to and won with high enthusiasm. His parents told him how Starfleet has faster ships than any of Sarpedon Cargo's can even attempt to compare to, with stronger shields, more powerful sensors, and a full range of weapons. That was it. Givrillian Sarpedon wanted to join the ranks of Starfleet.
On the way back to Earth, Givrillian's parents told him the stroy of the U.S.S Voyager, and it's trip through the Delta Quadrant. His father told him that there was a Fleet commisioned to explore this quadrant further, and establish a Starfleet presence there, the Expansion Fleet, just beyond the Expansion Nebula. Givrillian had chosen where he wanted to join Starfleet. His parents had told him that SC had a shipment they had to take to Avalon Station, the HQ of the Expansion Fleet. They were originally going to offer the job to one of their best Captains; Captain Mikel, but they were willing to make the long trip themselves if young Sarpedon wanted to join the Deep Space Academy.
After the long trip to the Delta Quadrant, Cadet Givrillian Sarpedon, at the age of 19, started his career in Starfleet.

U.S.S. Rivendell / Mission 13: "The Heist"

As soon as the three smaller vessels were out of the hangar bay, Sarpedon plotted the course of ten lightyears that T'lana had ordered. He was amazed at how the Rivendell had gone undetected by the Heraan. Normally, a Federation starship the size of the Prometheus class would be like a giant zit to them, a glowing beacon for attack, but the vessel had been left completely alone.

~Perhaps the Heraan are just getting stupid~ he thought to himself jokingly.

Sarpedon sat at the Helm on the Bridge of the Rivendell - or more accurately the main bridge, and ran a few diagnostics on the systems. There hadn't been much to do at the helm during shoreleave, and so he had spent most of his time checking up on the shuttle pilots down below. A few of them were a bit cocky, but everyone needs to be cocky at some point in their life. Especially if they're a pilot.

Now he ran a low-level diagnostic on the propulsion systems. He hadn't heard anything official, but he was hoping that they'd be getting under way on another mission. Though he did still need to get used to being called 'Chief' now, rather than 'Petty Officer'.

"Jump timer started."

Sarpedon set up a number of clocks on his console. One to display how long until the JD would be fully charged, one set at eight seconds, and programmed to start as soon as they achieved warp speeds. Another was set as a total timer, indicating how long until the jump drive was to be activated.

Sarpedon ran down to the shuttlebay, and boarded one of the shuttles, launching it as soon as it had reached maximum crew capacity. He had to dodge a few explosions as he left the bay with EPS Conduits blowing, and swung the small craft around. The damage to the mighty Prometheus starship was extensive.

=/\=All shuttles and escape pods, this is Chief Sarpedon. Form up on me, I'm gonna try and keep us out of this mess.=/\= he said into the comm, planning on keeping the small craft out of the kill zone between the Gallifreyans and the Heraan, while getting the pods to a Gallifreyan ship as soon as possible, allowing the shuttles to jump away to Avalon.

OOC: Seems all the ships are being blown up, you guys trying to destroy the fleet? XD

"Er..yes, Captain." Sarpedon said, a little confused. Normally, he had more specific directions that '20 lightyears somewhere over that way', but he supposed that he could live with it. As they cleared the station, he used the astrometric charts to find an empty area of space, '20 lightyears somewhere over that way', and began warming up that jump drive.

Overhearing T`lana's comminque with the Captain, he 'pointed' the ship in the direction of travel, and came to an all-stop. The jump drive warmed, the ship shot forward, faster than any Warp drive could take it.

A short time later, the ship emerged from it's faster-than-light travel, coming once again to a complete stop. This time though, the only thing surrounding them were stars.

"Jump complete."

"Aye Sir."

Sarpedon pulled up the data relevant to the upgrade on his screen. It was an impressive piece of technology. He didn't understand all the science behind it, but if what his console was telling him was correct, they'd be able to travel enormous distances almost instantly.

He began running some simulations on his console, with a 99% success rate. The other 1% was due to some instabilities created by the wormholes, the effects of which seemed to differ each time they occurred, though Sarpedon programmed in a set of subroutines that should easily compensate for it.

"Ready when you are, Captain." he said. "Spinning up the new drive."

"Aye." Sarpedon said, as he typed in the commands on his console, opening a channel with Avalon Station.

"Aye, Ma'am!" Sarpedon said firmly, as he began powering up the new drive. It took slightly longer than a normal Warp drive, since the computer was completely unfamiliar with the thing. Eventually, Sarpedon had it powered up, and the ship jumped forward into Transwarp speeds.

"Course set, Transwarp drive engaged. Drive power fluctuations are stable....BattleGroup Thirteen is following. All systems normal" he reported.
