I'm afraid it is bad news for the federation Flag Admiral.
We have discovered that the virus is purly synthetical. It was fabricated by someone.. to infect and weeken the federation..

*Takes a deep breath*

later on.. when chaos had spead..  we suspect an attack was planned.

A number of things, that may not yet be disclosed.. suggests that the borg may be behind this.

Though we cannot yet be 100% sure of this. There is alot of questions, yet to be answered.

It's just one of those things.. picked it up onna trip years and years ago.. we only had impulse drive.. it took 6 years to get where we were supposed to.. ya kinda need to find some way to pass time.. *shrugs*
