U.S.S. Iroquois / Mission 1: "Here Comes The Cavalry"
February 15, 2007, 08:30:49 PM
"Well, Captain Picard, while he was in command of the U.S.S. Stargazer, employed a special maneuver during combat with a Ferengi D'Kora-class frigate. When Captain Picard realized the Ferengi had the upper hand, he initiated a split-second jump to warp, placing him very near the Ferengi ship. This confused the Ferengi sensors, as they were still detecting the Stargazer in it's original position. They continued to fire on the original image, assuming the new image was simply an illusion. In fact, the opposite was true. The Ferengi were unknowingly firing into empty space while the Stargazer scored several critical hits from it's proverbial high ground. By the time the Ferengi realized the ploy, it was too late."

"Simply a mincing of words, Ensign."

"Now that's an idea. Doesn't the EMH have a portable emitter we could borrow?"

(OFF: I would have assumed after having Voyager's for five years, Starfleet engineers would have reproduced them.)

"Actually, Commander," Hal spoke up over the tactical console's audio system, "The phase variance of the starboard cannon is still off by 3.18 microns." Suddenly, she chastized herself internally. "I'm sorry, ma'am, I realize that was rude of me. It's just so hard to get used to working around humans, since I was only first activated a week or so ago."

"I'd like to think I'm a little more than the average computer core, but as you said, it's up to the Captain."

(OFF: Correct on that.)

"I'm not yet detecting any signatures, Federation or Heraan."

(OFF: I don't need to be transferred. A ships AI is a little better than a standard EMH, I can work in the torpedo bay, but continue to fly the ship (or something), while still being on my pedestal on the bridge. Don't worry about a comm link, I'm standing right on my pedestal with you all.)

"I'd certainly be grateful if you saved one for me, but I actually prefer staying in the core when I can. The bio-neural circuitry is just so... roomy."

"Commander Teranis, I can take control of the conn systems for the time being if you can make better use of Lieutenant Nonir."

"Commander, permission to leave the ship? I know it sounds odd, but you'll have to trust me."

"Records show there was a shipment of deuterium, isolinear processors, and reinforced duranium alloy bound for Avalon that left two days ago. Chances are that's our freighter. Ah, hold on a moment... it looks like the freighter was also carrying one replacement fusion reactor for Avalon."

"Checking... there is an asynchronous flux in the warp matrix. I can try my best to stabilize it."
