"Admiral Vorak was inspecific as to what post he'd like me to occupy, so Sickbay will be fine. My doctorate is purely honorary, but I have a lot of trauma experience and am an accomplished researcher. I've been many things in my life and I am only interested in helping in any way I can."
(Proceeds toward Sickbay with Captain's yeoman as escort.)
"This is Doctor Throop reporting for duty. I've been reassigned from the planet Yarjinke to assist your mission."
"Its good to see you, Commander. It has been an eventful few days hasn't it?" He reaches into his pocket for the alien artifact he found a few days ago.
"Here it is." He hands it over to Skon. "I found this device functioning in one of the wall access panels, hooked up to LCARS, while we had lost power everywhere else down here. It seems inert now. What do you make of it?"
'I hope I get a chance to tell Skon about the alien device I found... I should be finished here soon..."
"Why Lieutenant, we aren't even the same species... but I'd love to have lunch with you. I get a break in an hour, we can go then if you like. I'm afraid we may be quite busy for the next few days in this area of space, so finding time to eat together may be difficult otherwise."
Of the 37 survivors recovered from the Loxian asteroids, 5 died from their injuries before they came to Sickbay and 2 died after they arrived in Sickbay. Full autopsy reports appended to this log entry. (Computer: attach file 'Loxian Autopsies 1' to this log entry.) We are now caring for 29 injured Loxians, 1 Cardassian and 1 Skytoucher crewman- Ensign Harker. They are being cared for both here in main Sickbay and also in converted guest quarters on Deck 4.
Most of the injuries of the wounded are burns, cuts, broken bones and concussions. All injuries, except for Ensign Harker's, were received within a small length of time and at the same time throughout the base, according to the physical evidence. There is no evidence of small weapons fire or blunt trauma to the patients that cannot be accounted for, so I speculate that whatever hit the base was quick and external- shaking up the base from outside bombardment perhaps? I'll leave that final analysis to the Science Department. (Computer: Download realtime data on all currently monitored patients to this log entry and label it 'Current Patient Roster' and attach the stardate.)
The Loxians were asked to send a representative to give the dead their burial or death rites and Nurse Wynn and I attended. I will note that it is a solemn occassion wherein the attending Loxians made a keening or humming-type sound from their throats. It was very moving.

"All is assembled for the away mission. Now all I have to do is vacinnate myself and everyone else against anything we might come across. How's that for wishful thinking? Oh well, better some than none when speaking of protection."
(Doctor gives himself a really big dose of vitamins and anti-virals. Just in case...)
