Messages - Yaxara Grax

#1
Diplomatics officer Yaxara Grax reporting for duty.

I used to work on Avalon Station, but it doesn't seem to be active anymore...so I guess I've transferred. http://www.expansionfleet.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

U.S.S. Evolution / Mission 3: "Time is of the Essence"

Yaxara nodded in confirmation each time he mentioned a deck; Yes, I can read their lifesigns...I believe I can get a lock on them..."

The transporter was not working completely, but it seemed to be functioning. Throwing her long, red locks back and moving them away from her face, the Betazoid tampered with the console in front of her. Finally, all ten Heraan were displayed.

"I got a lock on them," She said with relief, but still tense, "Energizing."

Setting the coordinates somewhere in outer space, she intiated the energizing sequence.

Yaxara felt someone pulling her away, and she nodded her head at his question. She was alright. Even if she wasn't a true fighter, her temper was what got her through combat situations...and it did so very well. The Betazoid could still recall the huge, dead Herran she'd left on Deck 12. Nobody in their right mind would've believed she'd killed him.
Yaxara followed Malcolm, because he was right about that one-they had to head to the bridge. Not that he'd ever said that out loud, but he'd thought it. That was enough for a Betazoid. Most people hated when their minds were being read, though, so Yaxara had learned not to mention information acquired that way in front of the...'object', to say so. Now, however, she spoke;
"Good idea-We should head to the bridge and attempt to regain control...transport the Herrans off our ship."

"All right."

Yaxara grabbed the phaser with a faint smile. She had not even realized hers had been lost in combat with the Herran. Removing it from stun and setting it to maximum, she turned towards the turbolift.

"I am going to use the Jeffreys tubes. The Herrans aren't supposed to be hanging around there. " Another idea occurred to her, "We can simply transport them into outer space and get rid of them right away."

She didn't bother reading Malcolm's mind to see his opinions of this. It didn't really matter. This was war. And war brought on casualties. Those always looked better on the other side. Without waiting for his reply, she jumped into the tube.

It took her about ten minutes to reach transporter room. During her 'trip', she didn't encounter a single Herran, even though she could hear sounds of fighting through the walls. Crawling out and reaching the console, she tapped her commbadge.

"Grax to Malcolm. I'm at the position." While waiting for his reply, she managed to stabilise a forcefield around the transporter room with a few quick moves of her fingers.

Yaxara had fought with many Heraan since the ship had been attacked. She'd managed to get out with just bruises, but now, she was confident she wouldn't pass that well.

Her current opponent was a strong one, succesfully repelling every single attack she tried. He even somehow blocked her phaser attacks. The only reason she was still alive were her Betazoid telephatic capabilities. The Heraan weren't easy ones to read, but they were readable, so she could predict his actions. She only feared because it seemed he could to the same with her.

Damn, she thought, I am a diplomatics officer, not a combatanat! Finally, she managed to shoot the Herran, but only seconds after he gave her a strong punch, causing her to land onto a console hard.

But as she lied on the floor, trying to fight away the dizziness, an idea hit her-they needed to contact someone, they needed help! If she could only...raising her head, Yaxara realized that everyone was too preoccupied with the Heraan warmaster to pay any attention to her...and she realised that the console she'd just hit was the communications console.

Grabbing it and pulling herself up, Yaxara let out a sigh, attempting to focus on the commands before her. She was going to have to use the secure channels, so the Heraan could not intercept the message...she could remember the code...and yes! She was in. Now the message...

"To all Federation starships that receive this message...this is the U. S. S. Evolution. We are under attack by the Heraan and require immediate assistance. I am transmitting our coordinates to you...please, we require immediate assistance!"

After the message was transmitted, she dropped back onto the floor, trying to catch her breath.

"Affirmative...but why weren't they transported initially, with the others?" She murmured the last part more to herself than to Malcolm. For some reason, she couldn't get a lock on the Heraan warmaster. The other two, though, were certainly there. Rushing her fingertips over the console, she got a lock on them and energized.

"There...that should've done it. Now there's only the big boss left."

With a sigh, she leaned against the console, very satisfied with herself.

Scenario 1:
I would tell them that if they fight eachother, both of their worlds would be destroyed(I would tell examples), but IF they unite, they could become an alliance of great power.

Scenario 2:
I check out why don't the neighboring species like the treaty. If they think that that cooperation would be a threat to their world, I propose that they and the negotiating species sign a pact of non agression, and/or that the neighboring race also becomes a part of the alliance.

Scenario 3:
I inquire how would the use the replicator. Since they are offering us weapons, I believe that they are not in an urgent need of replicating them. But I don't see why should we agree to sharing our technology when we can easily replicate weapons.

"Thank you, Sir. Diplomacy is about solving problems with talking, not fighting, brains, not arms, with other words, finding a peacful soloution that pleases everyone when there are conflicts between someones interests.
The use of diplomacy was always great, and it is also used in simple matters, such as when children 'negotiate' with their parents whether they can go to bed early or late, which makes many people think that everyone can be a good diplomat if his/her needs are in question.
But that statement is not true. For being a diplomat, you have to do more than just represent your own rights. You must have an insight at the people you are neogitationg with, try and understand them, see how they feel, what they want, check out their side of the story. Your goal is to find a solution which pleases everyone.
And there are certain rules, the Prime Directive exists to follow, and you do not represent YOUR needs, but the needs of your species.
Diplomacy brings a great deal of responsibility with itself. A diplomat has to be careful not to provoke the other side and cause a war. He/she has to be charismatic, able to say anything in a short, simple but yet understandable way, without offending anyone. A great deal of self-confidence is needed as well."

"We would gladly provide you with the defence forces, but we would have to have some of our men onboard them, you realize that of course."

"You could send some of your representatives onboard our defence forces, to observe everything and approve all actions. Also, you could check everything out before we even send the forces, and we could sign a treaty.
There is another possibility, in which you could be completely reassured-joining the Federation. We would have to protect you, to help you, and to supply you, so you would gain multiple things, without siging any extra treaties."

"Ambassador, I understand your concerns, but the citizens of Calos are happy with them being in the Federation. And they have not done anything that makes them potential candidates for removal.
But, the Federation, as you might know, protects its members . So, what do you say about doubling the defence forces of Calos..and sending some of them to defend your planet?"
