Dr. Brackman - Quantum Slipstream, en route to an unknown destination in the Delta Quadrant

Brackman was about to nod off the sleep again when suddenly the shuttle shook.

"Status, QAI?" inquired Brackman, worried something might have damaged the shuttle.

"Error has occurred. Dropping out of slipstream. Attempting to determine error," replied QAI, its display showing it working furiously. Brackman took a look at the sensors and saw that the shuttle was stranded in an asteriod field at an unknown location.

"Error determined. Prototype replicators have caused a cascade failure throughout multiple systems, including the slipstream drive, replicators, and life support. Failure was delayed by automatic countermeasures. Life support will continue to operate for 5 hours with remaining power. Stablizer chamber, weapons systems, shields, and maneuvering thrusters unaffected. However, the Black Sun is unable to resume normal operations under current conditions."

"So it seems we have a problem, QAI. Could you determine our present coordinates? I could then search for a nearby station or planet to repair the shuttle."

"Recommended action is to set course for Vernemeton Station using escape pod. The station is controlled by the Federation and aid will probably be found there. Unsuccessful in determining present coordinates. More information is required. Station is an unknown distance from current location. Shuttle will operate in standby mode until repairs can by administered. Back up programs have been uploaded to escape pod to upload into either another star ship or space station in order to determine present coordinates."

"Well then, see you in a while, QAI," replied Brackman before he headed to the back and entered the escape pod. A few minutes later, the escape pod was jettisoned from the underbelly of the shuttle, narrowly missed an asteroid before setting course in the direction of Vernemeton Station.

Naquv, bridge Concordia

Naquv looked at the switch between the helmsman and the tactical officer. He was trying to size up the new ensign in red, and thought something was off about him. He thought about Mr. Urban, how he was honorable for a human. Though he still chose to learn more about what he was like, Naquv thought it was a budding friendship. The orders from the captain took him out of the deep thinking he was doing.

"Aye sir, hailing Avalon," he said. =A="This is the USS Concordia to Avalon station, we are ready to dock."=A=

Vernemeton Station - Promenade; Roughly 1 Standard Hour ago

Saul had been wandering around the station for about thirty minutes, enjoying the various views of the nebula outside and the workbees zipping and zooming around - a fair-sized cluster of them flying around Deck 16, which he had heard would be the home of the Marine contingent. This is what he needed - a hub of activity! He also enjoyed the business of the personnel running around the station, trying to get it operational, ensure that all the systems were working, and the general tasks which go with setting up a new starbase. There were even a few civilians here already, trying to get their shops set up before everyone else. Saul chuckled when he learned that the first civilian to arrive and start setting up shop was a Ferengi - typical.

He had finally managed to wander his way to the promenade, when he saw two men - it looked like father and son - struggling with some supplies. It seemed that most of their stuff was in large, industrial crates, which were a common site in any ships cargo hold, as they were relatively cheap and could be configured to hold almost anything - he had even heard of pirates smuggling people in them before. The young man couldn't have been much older than 16, and it seemed he hadn't yet reached his full height, and he was struggling trying to reach a container at the top of a pile, and it was tottering dangerously. As the container started to fall, Saul sprinted the few steps towards the boy and caught the container, saving the boy from a nasty injury underneath it.

"Thanks, Sir." the young man mumbled. He didn't take a second look at the Lieutenant Commander's nose ridges - which was an attitude that he had become familiar with in the all-accepting Federation since he joined, and was one of the reasons he enjoyed it so much.

"Thank you ever so much, Commander." the boys father - or so Saul presumed - was a balding man, with what remnants of hair he had long gone grey. "It's just the two of us since the boy's mother passed away, and we don't know a thing about all this organisational stuff - she was always the one who did that."

"Well, perhaps I can lend a hand?" Saul smiled, taking the PADD off the man, and looking through the contents.

-----------------
==1 Hour Later==
-----------------

"And this lot." Saul paused as he and John lifted the last crate up onto the desk. Opening it, he took out one of the items inside - a beautiful, ornamental gem stone the size of his fist. "Can go in here." opening the glass cabinet they had recently erected in the new shop, he placed it carefully inside.

"Thank you so much, Saul." Paul said, smiling, as he and his son began moving the contents into the cabinet. "I don't know what we could have done without you."

"No problem, Paul." The Commander smiled. "I couldn't just walk away and leave you to drop things on your son's head, could I?" he joked, ruffling the boy's hair.

Looking up, he happened to catch sight of the Captain, stepping out onto the Promenade, and being greeted by a fellow Lieutenant Commander. "If you two will excuse me, I have a boss to suck up to now." he winked.

Stepping out of the shop, he strode confidently over to the new CO. "Good morning Captain! Come to admire the good work all these people are doing?" he said, smiling.

"I wouldn't go so far as to say we need to dock, Ensign. Transporters should do just fine, and we're a little behind schedule as it is."

Shepard tapped his commbadge. "Bridge to Cargo Bay One. Coordinate with the Avalon logistics officer and get the supply shipment transferred aboard." After receiving confirmation, the call came in from the transporter room that Lieutenant Commander Reid had arrived onboard. He took a look around the bridge for a moment, figuring they'd be fine until he got back. Shepard got up from his seat, strode around the center railing, and passed the tactical station, entering the turbolift. After the lift chimed again, he called "Transporter Room One," still unaccustomed to talking to what seemed like nothing in the otherwise empty turbolift car.

Upon arrival on deck six, the commander left the turbolift and rounded the corner, finding the entrance to the transporter room about twenty meters down the corridor. He stepped inside, and found his first officer lifting a bag of some of her personal effects from the transporter pad. She caught a glimpse of his presence, and when she smiled at him, Ian had to smile back. "Lieutenant Commander Reid, I presume? Commander Ian Shepard, captain of the Concordia. It's good to finally have you onboard."

"Ah my new XO it seems. Welcome Commander Byrne. No need to be so formal with me," she promptly replied while returning a quick salute.

"Im Captain Faraness." She finished the salute and put out her hand to be shaken, to help lessen the formality.

Alex David prowled through out the ward meeting the many new faces under his watchful eye. The was Alex's first time manning a starship his last postings and been on star bases. He approached a crewman who was taking an inventory of the ships medical supplies.

"So what supplies have we got Mr..." Alex asked gruffly.

"Rush, Xavier Rush sir." The Crewman responded finishing Alex's sentence. "We are pretty full up, we just need our stocks of Morphine and Insulin. We should get those when we stop by the Avalon Station"

Rush then signed off the PADD and handed it to Alex.

"Thank you Rush" he said taking hold of the PADD and reading it as he made his way to the bridge.

Alex approached Ian Shepard who was sitting in the Command chair.

"My medical supplies are almost complete sir, we are just waiting on Morphine and Insulin." Alex said handing the PADD over to Shepard. "Hopefully you won't need our services any time soon though" Alex continued throughing a dark look over at Urban who was sitting at the Tactical station.

"I certainly would hope not, doctor. I'll make sure to put in a request for your missing supplies when we get to Starbase Avalon."

Over the next two hours, the bridge crew conversed causally whilst performing their (at the the moment, very lax) duties. Finally, the null-space field enveloping the Concordia was negated as it approached the Avalon catapult, and the ship dropped to sublight speeds as it passed through the arms. "Ensign," the commander called, turning to the operations station, "hail Starbase Avalon and inform them that we've arrived. We're ready to take on both additional supplies, as well as our new first officer."

Shepard chuckled at the tactical officer's boldness. "I'm sure you'll get to know me soon enough, lieutenant. After all, I'm not always on duty."

The commander opened a set of specification files on the Concordia. The ship was impressive; fast, agile, and armed heavily enough to outlast most of the known aggressors in the Delta Quadrant. It had sensor suites worthy of a Galaxy-class ship, and enough luxuries to make an outstanding diplomatic vessel. He took a moment to admire the ship's outline, captivated by the beauty of the Intrepid-class design.

"Captain, we just recieved confirmation that the U.S.S Concordia has entered null space via the Sol warpgate. They shall arrive at Station Avalon within the hour."

"Warp gate huh? Oh the catapult. Very well, contact all senior staff to make their way to the promenade. I think its time to do a bit of exploring to get to kow the station a bit better before our new guests arrive."

"Yes mam."

With that, the comm ended and the new Station Captain exited her office and made her way through ops to a turbolift, nodding towards the comms officer she had just spoken to and also taking yet another look at the view. She entered the turbolift and intructed its destination to the promenade.

A turbolift door opened just outside the entrance to the promenade. Faraness took a step out and walked through the entrance to the promenade. There were people rushing around everywhere. Mainly maintenance crew and Starfleet Officers alike all working on moving in supplies and doing the finishing touch-ups around the place. There were also a few civilians setting up their new shops in the area. Although the promenade looked like a military base at the time, Faraness knew once it had been completed and the shops and resturaunts had all opened up, that the place would start to buzz.

She took a few extra steps in as if to be noticed and looked around for signs of her new senior staff.

"Well, Grew up on a farm out in Oregon. Where I met my wife Sarah. She accompanied me on my assignments where I could take her. On one of our ventures we ran into a child who was wrought with poverty, both of her parents dead, so my wife and I decided to take her in, so I brought both of them with me onboard. Been in starfleet ever sense protecting people. Every now and then I have to use my weapon but I rather not. Im good at Martial arts. Learned self defense in the academy and learned offense from Klingons and Vulcans. When I tried with the Vulcans, they didnt wish to train me in their martial arts but my wife talked them into it. She can be quite mean when she wants to be. Then when I was posted near a Klingon outpost for several months, I learned how to use a Bat'lith and several other weapons which I cant pronounce. But yeah, as I said. I have learned quite a few things. But when it comes to my family, they will take priority over duty. No offense, Captain." Urban said to Naquv.

Naquv was not entirely comfortable inviting a superior to recreate with him, for two reasons.
For one, he was very introvertive, he didn't do things with other people often. Two, on the bridge of a Klingon ship, communication with other officers, especially superiors, was kept to a minimum.

But Naquv was often told to be more outgoing, even by some Klingons he respected.

Dr. Brackman - Desert Planet, Delta Quadrant

Dr. Brackman woke up as the S.S. Black Sun dropped out of Quantum Slipstream, in orbit around a desert planet. "Status, QAI?" asked Brackman.

"Arrival at destination. Entering atmosphere now."

The shuttle descended into the planet's atmosphere, its shields protecting it from the rapid descent. Several minutes later, the shuttle hovered a couple of meters above a stretch of land bordering one of the planet's seas. There was a large hole nearby with copious amounts of steam rising from it.

"Deploying structures," announced QAI as two massive metallic blocks of metal dropped out of the shuttle's underbelly, landing quietly on the sand. A moment later, the blocks began to expand. One grew large enough to cover the geothermal vent and the last of the steam disappated. The other structure soon attached to the mine and sat there, waiting for the ore to arrive.

"Deploying processors," continued QAI as another box shaped object, this time much smaller, landed next to the complex and attached itself to it. Brackman heard the mine's drill roar to life before beginning to dig.

"Deploying stealth shields," said QAI as a device roughly the size of a helm console on most Federation ships fell and landed with a resounding clank on top of the now shuttle sized complex.

"Activating shields," reported QAI as the complex shimmered out of sight, now hidden from view and most sensors.

"Objective complete. Heading to next destination," stated QAI, with the shuttle now ascending from the planet, leaving the complex behind. The shuttle soon had soon reentered orbit. A minute after that, the shuttle entered slipstream once again.

Admiral Will Karelia - Central Park, New York City, Earth

"I like that idea." Will and Julia kept walking through the park, talking softly as they went. Due to the size of the park, they only passed by a few others the entire time. Eventually, the time came, and Will had to interrupt their serene walk. "I have to meet Janeway at Starfleet HQ. I'll meet you on the Virtue when we get ready to leave." He gave Julia a kiss goodbye, smiled, and started toward the nearest transport depot.

Thankfully, the nearest depot was only just outside the park, and Will was therein a couple minutes. He smiled at the civilian operator as he stepped onto the pad. "Where to, Admiral?" came the operator's query, to which Will replied: "Starfleet Headquarters." The operator ran his hands over the controls, and Karelia felt the familiar tingle of molecular disintegration. His view slowly faded from the lush park to that of the interior of the transporter room at Starfleet Headquarters, Building 01. "Welcome, Admiral Karelia," this transporter operator said. "Admiral Janeway is in her office waiting for you, sir." Karelia stepped off of the transporter pad, tugged his uniform straight, and thanked the operator, before heading for the turbolift.

The door to Janeway's office slid open, and Karelia stepped inside. Janeway closed a report on the large monitor, and spun her chair to see Karelia. "Will!" she said with a smile, "it's been too long."

"That little jaunt you took in the Delta Quadrant didn't help things, you know," he said back, teasing. She gave a look of agreement. "So, what can I do for you, Kathryn?"

"Owen has asked me to accompany you to the new deep-space outpost for the first few weeks. He says that my knowledge of the area will be 'invaluable in helping the expedition get off to the best start possible'. At first, I wasn't sure, but I think it will bring back some good memories. Anyway, I thought it might be a good idea to go over some of our old databases regarding some of the locals in the area, points of interest, and all that. After all, that's my old ball-park."

They talked for about twenty minutes, before finally finishing up with the basic run-down. Janeway stood up, obviously sick of slumping over a monitor. "I'll transmit the full records to you in the first datastream, Will."

"Thanks," he said. "I'm sure we'll have our hands full with setting up until then." Will smiled at his fellow admiral, and left the office. He made for the nearest turbolift, bound for the Starfleet Command private hangar bay, where the newly-restored Cardinal Virtue sat, her brand new paint job never having yet left the planet.

Commander Ian Shepard - Bridge, U.S.S. Concordia

"Thank you, lieutenant," Shepard said as Urban handed him a padd with the final pre-launch tactical reports.

Ian took a seat for the first time in the command chair, something he'd done before only as the captain of a small Starfleet freighter. This was a fully-stocked Federation starship, resulting in a fair bit more grandiose of an experience. Several of the bridge officers watched with anticipation as the new captain tried the seat on for size, averting their eyes when Shepard looked back. "Well," he said, "I think it's high time we got underway. After all, my crew's not complete yet."

Shepard tapped his commbadge. "All hands, this is the captain. Report to your station and prepare to depart. We'll be soon entering the Sol catapult and laying over at Avalon Station, to pick up our first officer and a shipment of supplies. From there, we'll be entering another catapult, arriving shortly thereafter at Vernemeton Station, a full forty thousand light-years form Earth. I've looked over the personnel files of every officer that will be stationed aboard this ship, and I'd like you all to know that I truly believe that this is the most resourceful crew in Starfleet. I look forward to many years on this ship, with each and every one of you."

Ian paused a moment, and cut the intercom. He then turned to the lieutenant at tactical. "Mr. Urban, would you please take the conn?"

Shepard was understandably excited about being able to order his first command out of spacedock. "Engage fusion reactors. Begin warp core intermix pre-sequence."

Urban ran his hands over the console, obviously as excited as Ian to be piloting the ship out of dock for it's first time. Shepard tapped a button on his command console. "McKinley Station, this is the U.S.S. Concordia, requesting clearance for departure." The Starfleet operator was silent for a moment. "Concordia, you are cleared for departure. Good luck out there. McKinley out."

Shepard took one more look around the bridge, and sat back, taking in the feel of the comfortable fabric. "Begin disengagement sequence. Once we're clear, set a course for the Sol catapult and hold position near it."

Then the Concordia stopped near the Warpgate>

"Commander." he said as he looked back at the Captain then his eyes enlarged as he looked at his console again, hoping he wasnt going to be berrated on testing the ship out.

Dr. Brackman - S.S. Black Sun, Quantum Slipstream en route to Delta Quadrant

Dr. Brackman woke up from his nap after a good three hours. The ETA had readjusted to 6 hours, due to some unusual stellar phenomena that had to be avoided or so QAI believed. Brackman yawned before pondering on the projects he had yet to complete. His most recent project at the moment was to create improved replicators that could project their replicated matter some distance away and so could reduce construction times for many projects to a fraction of their original times, with the same results. However, Brackman still had yet to complete the cybernetic implants that were designed to extend his life considerably. Brackman had thousands of ideas and even a millenia would not be enough to bring even a fraction of them to frutation. He hoped to glean some information from Delta Quadrant species to help him, as many of them had technologies that exceeded the Federation's by an untold factor.

"Status, QAI?" inquired Brackman, curious to know what had happened during his nap.

"Molecules stable, systems operating at maximum efficiency, slipstream stable, expected to arrive at destination in 5 hours, 53 minutes, 26 seconds," replied QAI in its usual harsh tone.

"Do you have more information on our destination?"

"Destination is designated a class-M planet, but the surface is roughly 80% desert, with the remaining 20% being water. The planet yields very few usable resources. The atmosphere is breathable and the gravity within your tolerance. There are no known sentient lifeforms present."

"How unfortunate...it would be useful to have a small outpost in the Delta Quadrant."

"There is boronite ore on the planet."

"Well, now an outpost is of strategic importance! Oh yes. Your choices are very smart, QAI, very smart. Now, I'll need to construct an automated mine and refinery. Looks like we'll finally be able to test out the prototype, QAI."

"The mine and refinery are already replicated, in a compressed format. The only remaining priorities are to decompress the structures and to link one of my processors to them, both of which are automated processes."

"What would they be powered by?"

"The boronite ore is located near a geothermal vent. Along with solar chips, they would receive power from the vent."

"Good, good..." Brackman mumbled before slipping into another nap, now with the ETA reading 5 hours, 30 minutes.

Admiral Will Karelia - Starfleet Headquarters, Command Hangar

Will entered the cavernous hangar, which was populated with nearly a dozen assorted ships, ranging from shuttlecraft to runabouts, all the way up to the Cardinal Virtue. He made his way to the rear of the white, alien vessel, and slid open a small compartment, containing a keypad. Karelia entered in a short keycode, and the rear hatch began to drop.

Walking up the ramp to the interior of the ship, Will had to admire the care taken in it's restoration. He had asked the Gallifreyan engineers to retain the foreign architecture of the small starship, rather than use more standard Federation styles. He checked each compartment as if taking a tour for the first time. Firstly, the engine room and cargo bay, both immediately forward of the ramp. Then, he checked the crew lounge and bunkroom, both also in pristine condition. Finally he came to the cockpit at the end of the spinal corridor. The door slid away to reveal the room perfectly restored, so much so that Will would never notice that the ship had crashed if he had not been there to experience it.

It was then that the copilot's chair spun around, with Julia sitting in it, holding a padd and a mug of Klingon coffee. "Well, I see you beat me here," he teased, giving her a kiss as he moved past to sit in the helm seat. "Time to head off, I guess. I won't lie, I'm a bit anxious to see our new home-away-from-home."

Will slid into the pilot's chair and the controls sprung to life. He carefully raised the output of the thorium reactors, diverted power to the impulse boosters, and gently lifted the ship from the hangar floor. It pivoted around in place - nearly silent in it's grace - to face the door, and passed through the security forcefield with ease. The Virtue was now airborne for the first time since her crash on Gallifrey.

Karelia punched in autopilot coordinates, ones that took the ship toward the Sol catapult, and turned his chair around. "Between this jump and the one from Avalon to Vernemeton, we're looking at a few hours until we arrive. Care to have dinner with me one last time before we leave the Alpha Quadrant?"

Commander Shepard looked into the empty aperture of the catapult as a small light began beeping on his command panel. Catapult Control had given them clearance to enter null-space. "Helm," he said, "begin launch procedures."

The five emitters on each arm of the gate locked onto the Concordia with what looked like tractor beams, and the aperture began to look similar to a wormhole. The emitters charged, and when they fired, the beams slung the Concordia at breakneck speeds through the gate.

"We're inside null-space, commander," the junior operations officer said. "Our ETA to Starbase Avalon is approximately two hours." Ian smiled. "So far, so good."

Fleet Admiral Karelia - Central Park, New York City, Earth

Karelia walked slowly down the cobblestone path, breathing deeply the fresh air of the park while he still could. His hand was wrapped loosely around Julia's as she walked beside him. They had both taken their long-awaited leave time here on Earth, anxious to spend time on humanity's verdant homeworld after being given their newest deep-space assignment. Will had a meeting with Admiral Janeway in about thirty minutes, and considering her past circumstances, she had a personal interest in Starfleet's latest venture. Flag Admiral Paris had asked Janeway to accompany the permanent admiralty to Vernemeton Station, the new deep-space outpost in the Delta Quadrant.

It was important to Karelia to make that meeting, but that was thirty minutes from now, plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. "So," Will asked with a smile. "What do you think of our new assignment? We thought Avalon was far from home, but this is taking 'frontier outpost' to a whole new level."

"Well, it certainly is a long way from earth but someone has to expand the frontier and i just assume it be us. But Will i must admit, Avalon always seemed so far from everything. But now that i have you in my life im not so concerned about being far from earth. My grandmother was also in Starfleet, back when portions of the Alpha Quadrant was still part of the great unknown, and she used to tell me that home is where the people you love are not the rock that you happened to be born on. Fredrick Dwight entered the small Pub and looked around, he had been on starbase and some ships, but still, he was shocked at how, here he was, in the middle of space and on the frontier. He wondered what his future might hold for him. He was looking forward to the future, he had just finished his final classes for the academy and he was now ready for what the universe will undoubtedly throw at him. He was looking forward to getting to know the crew of his new assignment, but... here he only shook his head, in his eagerness to be ready for his post, he had misread the reports, and he would now be waiting for the ship to come to him, he had arrived before the ship, he just hoped they could handle it without the chief engineer. He blinked as he saw the windows, and the nebula outside them, and for a moment he was blown away by the beauty of it all. So much so that he forgot to reprehend himself for being egotisical about his new posting.

He saw an empty table by the windows, and he wondered why not as many people were enjoying the view, but he didn't want to lose his seat that he saw so he moved right over to it, around his neck, purring relaxingly in his ear, a half asleep feline was curled up around his neck. "Okay Cochrane, here we are... are home away from home... almost." All he got was a small sound, he was unsure if it was an agreement or not... but he wasn't too sure, after being told that the father of the once kitten was a strange feline at times.

However he sat down and soon was looking at a menu that a waiter had dropped by, he didn't see what he thought about the feline, after all, if Data could have a cat survive the D's adventure, why not bring his companion along as well... who knows... he might get some nice alien rodent presents on his tour of Duty, maybe even get to discover a new species completely, all he knew was time was on his side at the moment, a new starbase, a new ship... and the wide unknown, so much technology has advanced just in his life time that he wondered what it would look like by the time he was a Captain of his own space ship he thought to himself and he continued to look out the window at the magnificent nebula.

"Oh dont worry, why would they worry about a Lt who was assigned to the flagship. Im sure they have better things to do." his wife kindly said as she went about her business.

"I know, I need to go and make sure the tactical systems are up and make sure the armory is stocked and everything else sense I dont know if I have a assisttent yet." Urban said sluggishly as he got up and exited his quarters.

<He continued to walk as he found the turbolift and then entered>

<Urban walked out of the turbolift and onto the bridge where he saw several engineers tripple checking their work, he went to the Tactical station, their he entered his command code and started to make sure everything was alright should something arrise, then he made sure the armory was stocked and loaded as he went through the computer to double check everything, after 30 minutes he locked out the tactical station and went down to make sure that every weapons locker was in order and phasers were in them>

Dr. Brackman had just finished having a conversation with a friend when his wristband started beeping.

"I hope we meet again soon," said Brackman to his friend, before he pressed a button and said, "QAI, what's our status?"

"Processors are operating at optimal capacity, slipstream connections stable, S.S. Black Sun is still located at previous landing position and is operating flawlessly, Project Chaos is still in progr-"

"Good, QAI, very good," said Brackman absentmindedly, "So do you have any requests to help with the project?"

"An increased number of processors would aid greatly," replied QAI, "I have concluded there are 13 more locations within known space where processors can be placed."

"Hmmm...well, QAI, relay those coordinates to Black Sun for me and I'll do my best to construct processors at those locations."

Brackman soon reached his shuttlecraft, the S.S. Black Sun, which sat in a clearing near a large park in the center of the city. Unlike most vessels, the S.S. Black Sun had no windows to speak of and no entrance could be seen. Brackman continued to walk into a building. As soon as the cooridor he was in was empty, he touched another button on his wristband and said, "Initiating recall in 5...4...3...2...1..." There was a sudden flash of light and Brackman vanished before reappearing inside the S.S. Black Sun.

Brackman sat down in the only seat in the cockpit and began pressing a series of buttons on the central console. The Black Sun began to move vertically and soon reached space.

A view screen popped up and a strange looking object in a red hexagon appeared. "Coordinates set. Heading to destination. ETA 9 hours."

"Very good, QAI," mumbled Brackman before he drifted off into sleep.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Faraness had been flooded with new reports everyday from her senior staff. Starbase 384, named Vernemeton Station, had only been completed not any longer than two weeks ago and it was a tough job to make sure everything was fully operational and running smoothly. There was still alot of internal construction being made. Deck 16 was being created for a new taskforce of marines and was not yet operational. The holodecks were also still not at one hundred percent completion. There were also still a lot of touch-ups that needed to be completed.

The Captain rose from the chair in her office of which she was still not used to, and walking into ops. She looked around at all the Starfleet officers and crewman alike, all of which were racing around like a nest of worker ants. She then glanced up and walked towards the huge window in ops. It were as if half of the ops itself was this contained by this window and boy was there a view.

Staring out into the stars, Faraness watched as transport ships and shuttlecraft buzzed around the station but it was not the ships her eyes were focused on. In the distance, beyond the busy station, was the most beautifull nebula she had ever set her eys on. It almost looked like the clouds back on Earth however this was not a bunch of clouds with the one apparent color in the sky. It looked almost like one single cloud, shaped like a belt that you would wear with your uniform. It stretched all the way around the new station, as far as the eye could see which made it seem almost endless. And the colors of the nebula were all different shades of colors. Although the inside looked almost a dark grey as if they were rainclouds, the edges of the cloud-like nubula, were shades of dark blue and green.

As if the nebula wasnt a spectacle in itself, there were twin suns that enhanced the beauty of the nebula. The nickname given to this natuers blessing was 'The Endless path to Heaven,' as the Nebula seemed endless.

After almost losing herself in the sheer bliss of what would be her daily view, Faraness snapped back into focus as a crewman walked infront of her path. She turned and looked towards a comms officer.

"ETA on our new flagship ensign?" She asked excitedly.

"The U.S.S Concordia is due to arrive in 18 hours sir." The ensign quickly replied after typing a few brief commands into his console.

"Very well. I'll be in my office." The captain stated as she walked towards her office.

Commander Ian Shepard - Shuttlecraft Tennyman, Earth Orbit

From the windows of the cramped Type 9 shuttlecraft, Shepard was finally able to catch a glimpse of Station McKinley. Freighters were buzzing in and out of the massive starbase, some of then headed only as far as Mars to supply the repairs to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, others were bound farther out. Shepard noticed more than a few heading through the new null-space catapult, or 'warp gate' as some cadets were calling it. Almost undoubtedly these were headed towards the Vernemeton gate, delivering final loads of supplies for construction and stocking.

"Starbase 001," the pilot said over the comm, startling Ian. "This is the shuttlecraft Tennyman, requesting permission to dock. We are carrying Commander Ian Shepard, bound for U.S.S. Concordia, NCC-79521."

"That was a bit formal, Lieutenant," Shepard said jovially. The pilot gave a half-hearted smile, not even taking her eyes from the console as the operator responded. "Confirmed, Tennyman. You are cleared to approach. Concordia has been alerted and is awaiting your arrival. McKinley Tower out."

The outer space doors were, conveniently, already open, and the small shuttlecraft took a wide turn into the massive entrance, steering clear of the many large freighters entering and exiting as well. The inside of the starbase was beyond words. It seemed to be a fathomable size until one realized that even at considerable thruster speed, the shuttle barely seemed to be moving. It took them almost fifteen minutes, given the traffic, to make their way around the large, dome-like interior of the starbase. Eventually, though, the body of an Intrepid-class starship began to reveal itself, and before long, Shepard could see the registry emblazoned across the hull, directly forward of the mess hall. Despite the fact that the Intrepid-class was one of Starfleet's smaller space frames, the words 'U.S.S. Concordia' were nearly as long as a football field.

The shuttle entered a landing pattern and lined up behind the ship, making a soft landing on the deck of the landing bay. The rear hatch slid open, and Shepard and his pilot walked out, and was immediately greeted by a few officers in dress uniform, one of whom blew a boatswain's whistle. "Captain on the deck!" the crewman announced, and it reminded Shepard that Starfleet protocol dictated that any vessel commander was to be addressed as "captain", regardless of actual rank. He found it to be an uptight protocol, and had vowed not to enforce it.

"At ease, Ensign," Shepard said. The three officers saluted, and began to escort the commander to the bridge. "I know you're just following protocol, everyone," the commander said, "but I do know how to find my way to the bridge. Relax before you sprain something, that's an order." One of the three smiled weakly, and they dispersed. It had been a while since Ian had been onboard an Intrepid-class ship, but it was a very orderly design, and it didn't take long before he found a turbolift. Stepping inside, the computer chimed, indicating it's readiness, and Shepard replied: "Deck one, main bridge."

After being expediently deposited at his destination, Shepard stepped out of the main turbolift, passing by the tactical station as the junior officer there recognized him. "Captain on the bridge!" the young crewman called out, and Shepard realized he would have to do this several times before the crew became acclimated to his presence. "At ease, everyone," he said, giving his crew a good look over. Several of the key officers were missing, notably his first officer, who was to be picked up when the Concordia laid over at Starbase Avalon on the way out to SB384.

Dr. Brackman - S.S. Black Sun, Near Jupiter Station, Sol System

Dr. Brackman had fallen into a deep sleep and did not notice when QAI made the shift from impulse to slipstream just as the shuttle passed Jupiter Station. The shuttle accelerated to speeds unseen in the Federation toward QAI's designated coordinates. In several hours time, the shuttle would have crossed the threshold between the Alpha and Delta Quadrants and a few more hours would lead the shuttle deep into the Delta Quadrant. Even at Brackman's advanced age, he still has much work to do and needed QAI's processing power to help him, which is why he travels so far from the Alpha Quadrant. Even his shuttle relied on QAI's aid - the shuttle would be unable to travel in a quantum slipstream if it wasn't for QAI's rapid adjustments and calculations to maintain the slipstream.

The shuttle continued undisturbed on its course to the Delta Quadrant, with Brackman still slumbering. A console near Brackman indicated that the ETA had changed to 8.25 hours.

Martin stepped into his lab and looked around; A grin is etched on his face.

This will work just fine He thought as he walked into his office and sat down.

He placed his PADD on his desk and closed his eyes; he remembered the last time he had a lab for his own.

"Hello Sir, I was just coming by to see how you are enjoying the new office?" She said warmly

Bridge, Concordia

=/\=Understood, Begin your investigation. Concordia will provide additional security officers to help you when upon arrival=/\=

OOC:Make up a conversation between you and Talaxian security, or interview the last person that was robbed. Commander Allen has told me that you should have complete freedom to make up what ever details you want about the robberies. Run with it!!

Talaxian Colony

Enter Robert Dewitt, a new officer who has been placed in the colony to finish off some trades between the Federation and the Talaxians.
He has just recently heard of the recent robberies in the Delta Quadrant, but still wonders who are committing them.

Robert turns to Langnickel and says, "I hear the Concordia is coming. Wonder if they'll be any help to us."

Starbase 384 - Vernemeton Station / A new game in town

Aluura had been waiting inside the transport ship for hours. Some kind of medical situation was keeping her from finding a place to set up her Dabo table. She was not in a hurry to make money, she had plenty of that. It was the thrill of the game that kept her at the table. Of course, it was her table now. Only a cut to whatever house she set up in, and the rest of the profit was hers. The table was also a great place to gather information on many other profitable investments. It was also a great place gather gossip. People often got loose lipped at a Dabo table.

"Dabo, in a new place" she thought to herself, as the all clear came through, and she set eyes on Starbase 384 for the first time.

Hilliard set up shop for another day, nothing new, doing what he usually did which was look at the busy people's lives. Sometimes he saw different people, and he saw the various people that opened their shops later than him. This time there was a girl with a table walking around. He recognized it as dabo. it made no difference to him, people could throw away their money somewhere else. as he thought this, she came to the entrance of the Hub...

The Hub

"Hello Mr. Hillard." Aluura said as she approched the counter. The man behind it seemed a little puzzled that she knew his name. Before he could has how, she explained herself.

"My name is Aluura." She said as she extended her hand. "I have only been here a few weeks, but have done a lot of research reguarding the shops and shop keepers. I have been looking for the perfect place to set up my Dabo table, and I must say, The Hub is my first choice. First by a wide margin, I might add." She smiled, hoping it would help make her first impression a good one.
