From this point forward, all new applicants are required to enroll in and graduate from the Deep Space Academy on Avalon Station before officer ranks of Ensign or higher may be reached.

All applicants who do not wish to enroll at the Academy must be content with a non-commissioned rank, however, may choose to enroll at the Academy at any time.

Therefore, the current Starfleet rank scheme is as follows:

Enlisted Crew

-Crewman Recruit (CM3)
-Crewman Apprentice (CM2)
-Crewman (CM1)
-Petty Officer 3rd Class (PO3)
-Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2)
-Petty Officer 1st Class (PO1)
-Chief Petty Officer (CPO)
-Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO)
-Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO)

Warrant Officers

-Warrant Officer (WO)
-Chief Warrant Officer 3rd Class (CWO3)
-Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class (CWO2)
-Chief Warrant Officer 1st Class (CWO1)

Line Officers - Requires graduation from Deep Space Academy

-Ensign (ENS)
-Lieutenant JG (LT JG)
-Lieutenant (LT)
-Lt. Commander (LCDR)
-Commander (CDR) (Requires completion of Bridge Commander's Test)
-Captain (CAPT)

Flag Officers - Requires permission from existing Flag Officer

-Commodore (COMM)
-Rear Admiral (RADM)
-Vice Admiral (VADM)
-Admiral (ADM)

High Command - Requires permission from existing High Command

-Fleet Admiral (FADM)
-Flag Admiral (FLADM)

All crew must begin at the rank of Crewman Recruit, unless he/she decides to enroll at the Academy. Upon graduation, he/she will be immediately granted the rank of Ensign. Initial assignments to any rank above Crewman Recruit or Ensign may only be given out with High Command approval.

If one does not wish to enroll at the academy, they may progress through the NCO ranks into the Warrant Officer ranks. If the CO agrees, the Warrant Officer may later be promoted to Ensign.

To be granted the rank of Commander or higher, one must have successfully passed the Bridge Commander's test. An officer is eligible to take the Bridge Commander's Test once they reach the rank of Lieutenant. A passing grade must be verified to the High Command by the Division CO upon completion of the test.

To be granted the rank of Commodore or higher, one must have the approval of an existing officer of the Admiralty. This is subject to scrutiny by the High Command.

To be granted the rank of Fleet Admiral, one must already hold the rank of Admiral, and must recieve an official promotion by a member of the High Command. Those holding the rank of Fleet Admiral before this act are not subject to this, but are also not eligible to give a promotion to Fleet Admiral.

The rank of Flag Admiral may not be reached by anyone other than Flag Admiral Vorak, unless the member plans on using the promotion as an excuse to end the character's assignment in Expansion Fleet. For example, one may reach Flag Admiral if the character is to be transferred to the Alpha Quadrant.

All promotions are subject to scrutiny by the High Command and the Admiralty.
