"Sir, after seeing the simulations we did, I would like to continue using my brain as my biggest asset, and also being half betazoid i can care for them as well. Sir, I would like to stay here on the Station as a medical officer if possible, or a starship that docks here... "

*Kirby walked into the office looking both a little nervous and excited.*

"Sir, I have finished my Engineering training. I'm here to discuss what's next."

"No, I believe that is all. Thank you, and good luck, Cadet".

"Indeed I would sir." Swift said, hoping his outward calm hid his surprise. "I was hoping to go through some command training but if the position needs to be filled quickly or if it is only on the table now then I suppose I can skip it." He wanted to do the command training as it would give him a boost up when it came to advancing. His ambition was to one day be a captain, he wanted that more then he did his next breath. However he wasn't going to pass up a prime position on a starship, he would just have to work a little harder to get ahead.

Hobson pulled the new PADD towards him, and called to the door.
"Enter".
As the Cadet entered, he began to read over the PADD.
"Cadet Mark Lois, completed security and tactical. I see here that you are interested in serving on the USS Evolution? It has a position as a tactical officer open to you if you choose it".

"Very well. Your rank is Ensign, you are granted that rank at this time, with all permissions with it. You may take on the appropriate golden undershirt for your officer's uniform. You will report to Admiral James Madison on the Operations deck of this starbase. If you have no questions, I will add you to the crew manifest, and you are dismissed".

"Nothing so far since the time I spoke with you last. Commander Travis is working on a plan for that project. I or he will find you when it is finally decided".

Hobson walked into the office with a small pack of things. He looked around at the space. 'Just another new assignment' he thought, and looked forward to working on the headquarters of the fleet for the first time. After so much time spent on the edge of it all, this was going to be easy.

Hobson sat at his desk, and leaned back.
"You have completed the Deep Space Academy medical course, Cadet. Hopefully it feels as an accomplishment. We covered quite a bit, and you have earned the right to begin your career as a Starfleet officer. But I am aware of your wavering on what you want to do. You entered, and now have credit of completion of Starfleet Medical, but yet you wish to put that aside to persue the Embassy. If that is indeed what you wish to do, you are free to. But I call the meeting with all Cadets to work on placement. I contact the right people, and you get 'out there' and to what you signed up for. So this is the big decision, the final decision as far as starting on a path of preference. You have no diplomatic credit to your name, but you have a good completion of medical. The USS Evolution and USS Rivendell both ships, need solid medical officers. The USS Rivendell needs a good assistant to the chief, the Evolution has a staff of two in the medical department. Starbase Avalon also has positions open in the medical field. As for diplomacy, only the Starbase here has the embassy, with a third placed officer spot open. There is an Embassy CO and XO already in place, with those two, you would not have a full-duty job I would say. The decision is yours, Cadet, but off the record, I would suggest one of the Starships in the fleet, if you are looking for action. Do not expect it in the embassy".
Hobson brought up his own screen.
"Now is the time Cadet, what will you persue? Considering also this: you can continue in the Academy at a rank of Cadet C3, and take another course, or many other courses. But the opportunity now exists to begin at the rank of Ensign in the field".

Hobson looked up, and took out a Starfleet PADD from his desk, sitting back.
"I see. Do you have a particular interest, post-academy?".

"Thank you, Sir. I'll be sure to do my best as a starfleet officer. Anything else before I go?"
