The Dominion War

[Quinn]

Quinn pulled out his tricorder and scanned the turbolift quickly,

"The closest floor is deck six, engineering is right below that. We can get there through the jeffrey tubes," He reported.

Just than the entire ship shook violently, tossing both the captain and Quinn to the floor.

[Quinn]

Quinn pressed his combradge, "Bridge to the captain, we're almost within communication range of starfleet headquarters,"

[Alex Takio]

OOC:I'll try my best to do more then two lines.

IC:

"Yes sir we can maintain position behind the moon. I beleave that the conoly is on the light side of the moon or more known as the face of the moon. We shall be behind them."

Takio looks at his panel and starts to do a few calculations.

"I could do a fly by from one side of the dark side of the moon to the other, it should take about 5-7 seconds too do that. Good for a quick scan of conoly?"

Takio fingers flick thought his calculations again and finding them all right

Takio gives Beta a quick nod in greeting and returns to his panal, a light starts to flicker, fingers move over the console.

"Captain,everyones aboard and someones asking to speak to you. Message has been sent to the 8472 ship and have just got a replied aknowledge."

Fingers keep on moving over the panal

"Course has been laid in and ...  hmm, strange!!"

[Voyager]

"I'll consider hiding, but what are the chances that they will catch up to us?" Dolan asked.  "We are already ahead and will likely stay that way.  They will probably stop pursuing us after they realized how far ahead we are," Dolan continued.

Dolan then took out a datapad he had been carrying around.  It was a design for a phaser bank that had its own power source seperate from the main power grid so it would still work if main, auxiliary, and emergency power were to shut down.  It had a targeting system that could lock on to enemies and fire automatically, however a manual firing is usually preferable, and had it's own controls near it.  Since it wasn't connected to the main power grid, a person would have to go to the controls themself to reprogram it to accompany new enemies or for repairs.  Dolan began see if there were any flaws and was going to make an experimental one as soon as he had time.  He began to consider making one in this holoprogram...it would be helpful since more power could be put in the warp drive.

Dolan then asked, "Is there any way we could cut down on the time?  Increasing antimatter injection?  Lowering power on non-essential systems?"

[Voyager]

*Dolan arrived at the holodeck, eager to start his friend holoprogram's that was sent from him a few days ago*

"Computer, activate holoprogram 'To my good friend Voyager'"  Dolan said, excited to see the holoprogram.

*Suddenly the room changed, and Dolan was on a starship's bridge wearing a captain's uniform.  He turned toward his first officer*

"Commander, what is going on?" asked Dolan.

"Captain, don't you remember?  We are retreating back to Federation territory.  We were repulsed in the Battle of Cardassia.  The Dominion had reinforcements arrive and they attacked us with it, destroying a good part of the fleet.  We were forced to retreat.  I expect by the time we get back, a treaty would have been signed and the Federation will be forced to give up much of its territory," the officer replied.

"We've lost the Dominion War?" Dolan exclaimed.

"Pretty much sir.  The Dominion will probably be receiving reinforcements from the Gamma Quadrant over the years of 'peace' that are coming though normal space.  The Federation will collapse if they do so.  I expect we will be at war in a few years, maybe months if they had sent those reinforcements at the beginning or even before the war," answered the officer.

*Dolan grimanced at the possibility of having to face the Dominion*

"How long until we reach Federation space?" asked Dolan.

"Well Captain, with many parts of the warp drive and core badly damaged, I'd say about two weeks before the USS , possibly more.  What's worse is that our weapons are also damaged so we don't have a chance if a Dominion, Cardassian or Breen ship finds us," the officer answered.

"Let's get to work then.  I'll be in Main Engineering." Dolan said, and headed to the turbolift.

[Voyager]

After heading down for a minute, the turbolift suddenly stopped, catching Dolan and Quinn off guard and throwing them off their feet.

"Dolan to Bridge, what just happened?  The turbolift just stopped," Dolan said.  After a couple of minutes there was no reply.

"Shoot, the comm system must be down.  We'll have to override the turbolift's controls manually," Dolan said as he bent down to see the controls better and began to press a series of keys on the console.  "Prepare to bring us to the closest floor, we'll have to get to Engineering on foot."

[Voyager]

Dolan looked up from the sensor logs and replied, "I'm on my way."  He then got up from his desk and went to the bridge from his ready room.  He then sat down in the captain's chair and thought about what he saw from the sensor readings.

Maybe the Federation ships need a new design, an upgrade in technology, a major improvement, Dolan thought as he mused over how so many ships could have been destroyed while only doing minor damage to the enemy's fleet.

[Voyager]

OOC: I would appreciate it if everyone said more than two lines, just to get the story moving.

IC:

"Can we maintain a position behind the moon?" Dolan asked Ensign Takio.

Dolan then tried to recall where the Lunar colony was to figure out if they could get any information from there.

"Ensigns, can we access information on the other colonies in Sol?"  Dolan asked, wondering if they could get more information.

[Holographic Officer Beta]

Taking the Tactical Station until the Ensign unfroze, Beta spoke to Dolan: "I'll take the security, and yes you may call me Beta; it's a lot easier than my full name." he said smiling.

Hearing Alex's exclamation, Beta asked; "What is it, Ensign?"

[Alex Takio]

"Good question sir, if they don't catch up to us and start fireing at certain parts of the ship we should be able to get to outrun them, but I'm not hopeful on that"

Fingers move over the console as takio starts some quick calculations

"It should take us about thirty-nine hour to get to the coordinates or we could see about hiding in  an asteroid field or nebula gas field."

[Voyager]

*Dolan walked to Main Engineering rather slowly, considering that he stopped by several control panels along the way to gather information on his ship.  He noted on a PADD he had that he was on an Ambassador class vessel named the USS Bismark and that the ship was recently refit to fight in the Dominion War.  He then arrived at Engineering*

"Where is the Chief Engineer?" asked Dolan.

"Right here sir," said a women that was working on something concerning the warp core, "Just give me another second and...there!" She turned around and asked, "So, what are you here for, Captain?"

"I thought I'd help out.  It can't hurt to have an extra pair of hands, can it?" replied Dolan.

"Well, you can help replace some of the plasma conduits and some other parts over here," she said, pointing toward a Jefferies tube.

"I'll get started." Dolan picks up some materials, heads into the Jefferies tube and begins work.

[Quinn]

"Aye captain," Quinn quickly followed after Dolan, they entered the Turbolift.

"Engineering," He said promply, the turbolift ingaged.

[Alex Takio]

"Aye aye sir" Takio replied

Takio keeps on eye on his panel. Fingers move as he keeps the warp speed at safe enough levels without blowing up the ship.

"I've had to slow down a fraction adding two minutes to arrival time. We will be within range in twenty-two minutes."

[Holographic Officer Beta]

Beta nodded slowly as his subroutines digested the information. His memory banks had no record of the Dominion War other than sketchy details, but he thought it might be interesting to join in with the simulation.

"I think I understand. I am Holographic Officer Beta, sent from Starfleet Command on Earth to Expansion Fleet, initially for field testing, as I am a prototype holographic officer - I display many of the same emotions and characteristics of regular humans. I have a general basic knowledge of most ship systems, so I can take any which you assign to me here, though I would prefer something tactical or security-based."
