The Dominion War

[Quinn]

"Aye sir, targeting impulse engines now.."

Just as he was about to fire two photon torpedoes, the entire ship shook violently. Quinn almost fell over, he quickly regained his footing and reported quickly.

"Shields are down to 64% captain, Firing phasers!" He said quickly. On screen a bright orange phaser beam connected with the Cardassian scout ship.

"Direct hit, they have hull breaches on two decks,"

[Voyager]

"We should hurry, it seems like we're in trouble," Dolan said.  He then finished entering the final sequence of numbers and the turbolift moved slowly down to the floor below, stopping once it reached deck six.  The doors opened and Dolan and Quinn left the turbolift for the Jefferies tube to Engineering.

The ship shook several more times before they finally reached Engineering.  Upon arrival, Dolan saw that Engineering had problems of its own.  It seemed like several consoles have exploded, causing a lack of crewmen since they would have been sent to Sickbay.

"Report!" Dolan demanded.

The Chief Engineering Officer didn't turn from the console she was working on and replied, "There have been overloads on several of the consoles during the battle and they exploded, causing major injuries.  They were beamed to Sickbay, they were so badly wounded.  We have been trying to fix several systems, including communications and turbolifts, but had no luck so far."

"What were those shakes that Ensign Quinn and I felt on our way to here?" Dolan asked.

"It seems like our warp field has almost destablized several times, but we were able to compensate and not drop out of warp.  Also, with some of the engineers out, I need some people to work on helping to fix the systems," said the Chief Engineer.

"Could you begin on communications, Ensign Quinn and I will try to repair the consoles," Dolan said, as he turned to one of the consoles.

Takio moves towards the helm and takes the seat. Takio then checks the console, his fingers flying over the panel.

"We should be within communications range in about half an hour sir" Takio replied

"That is if we don't lose warp, we appear to be pushing it as far as possible"

[Voyager]

Dolan nods in acknowledgement and then takes an PADD offered to him by the first officer.  He looks over it and sees the total damage and casualties on the ship.

"Could we transmit the information on this PADD to Starfleet?" Dolan asked Ensigns Quinn and Takio, "It would probably help them if they knew our status.  We all should prepare to be debriefed also."  Dolan began to wonder if the MIDAS array fully developed yet, thinking that Starfleet might know several things about the battle already though the array.

[Voyager]

OOC: Since no one seems to be saying anything...

IC:

The science officer spoke up and said, "I can't tell what the lifeforms are at the moment.  I know they are humanoid and that's it so far.  For messages, we have a few coordinates in the Delta Quadrant, a couple appearing to be M class planets there.  It appears the MIDAS array was quickly disassembled and stored on several starships in the fleeing fleet.  All Federation people were placed on board all of the ships, cramming all of them to maximum capacity and for a few more than.  All new prototypes, ship designs, technologies, everything was taken by the fleet and the databases in Starfleet Headquarters and all other areas important to the Federation have been wiped clean except for a message that the data has been moved.  I expect it to be the same on all other planets."

Dolan briefly imagined a scenario similar to the Battle of Dunkirk, a battle early in Earth's history before saying, "When we find out if those lifeforms are hostile or not, we will decide when to leave."

[Quinn]

A tone rang out from Quinn's console, "Incomming transmission from the Jupiter Station," Quinn said, taking a quick glance.

He almost forgot about the Mars colony and the Jupiter Station in the solar system.

[Voyager]

The science officer spoke up, "We are being scanned by the ship."  After a moment, she said, "The ship seems...organic.  Almost everything about the ship seems organic.  Our sensors can't penetrate the ship's hul-...outside?  They seem to also be diverting the transporter beam around it, causing a decrease in the time to be withing transporter range of Jupiter Station."

Dolan recognized the ship as one of Species 8472's bioships from his studies at the Academy and said, "Hail them and put them onscreen.  We have to see if they are the cause of this destruction or if they know what is going on."  Dolan highly doubted it since he remembered from the Academy that USS Voyager had resolved many - if not all - issues with Species 8472 during their journey back to Earth.

A visual with the bioship was made and a member of Species 8472 appeared on the screen.  It then morphed into a female human.  She said, "The transformation is necessary for me to communicate with your people due to your impure genetic structure.  I am a member of Species 8472.  What do you need?"

Dolan asked, "What is going on?  Do you know what caused the destruction in this system?"

She replied, "There appears to have been an attack by who your people call the Dominion several days ago.  They headed straight for the planet and destroyed all colonies on all of the planets.  They then left the system to destroy other Federation worlds.  A fleet from the third planet left with almost all of the people in the system.  A meager assortment of vessels were left to fight the Dominion off.  They failed.  My ship arrived at the conclusion of  the battle but was not detected.  I then destroyed several Dominion vessels.  The Dominion left in haste after I drove them off.  They left some of their people on the planet."

Dolan decided to ask for assistance.  "Could you help us bring the people from the station to the fleet that left here?"
The female answered, "My vessel is not designed to be a transport.  However, I will take several of your species onto my vessel and will defend your vessel from harm."

"Thank you," Dolan replied and then turned to Ensign Takio, "How long until transporter range now?"

[Alex Takio]

Takio quickly glances at the newcomer and then goes back to his consoule. A finger moves to sent a command to the transporter room to start beaming everyone aboard from Jupiter Station. Takio then coms the captain in his ready room

"Captain, personal beaming has started should be done in about five minutes."

Takio gets a message ready for the8472 ship

"Sensors have found serval ships heading this way. Also our top warp speed at the moment is six point three."
Takio continues to look at his console reading what ever information he can get before he hands it over to Beta
"They have powered up weapons that sensors say are Breen weaponry"
A frown appears on Takio's face at that, fingers move very quickly over the panal

"Going to warp nine point one"

Takio sets a timer on his panel for four and half hours

"Timer set from now"

Takio watchs the timer start it's long tick down to zero

[Voyager]

"It is likely that won't stop them.  We have to hit anything that could transmit messages or that allows them move so they could relay the message," Dolan said.  Suddenly the ship shook and many people lost their balance, with the exception of anyone sitting, Dolan included.

"We have to stop them from getting the message out to their allies that we survived!" exclaimed Dolan, "Target their engines and their communications, if we can get those offline, we will at least delay them from transmitting their message."

The ship shuddered again and Dolan was almost thrown out of his seat.  After he regained his balance, he shouted, "Report!"

[Voyager]

"We'll send the battle log and then our status report once we are within communications range.  At least they will know what happened..." Dolan still couldn't figure out what was different from the actual battle that caused the Federation to lose.  He decided to look though the logs more throughly later.  Dolan then realized that with a majority of the Federation fleet gone, it is likely Earth and other Federation worlds and colonies would have to evacuate to a distant world since it is likely the Dominion will strike back with greater force.

"Ensigns, check the number of vacant rooms we have.  I have a feeling we might have people staying for a while,"  Dolan said, wondering how the Federation was going to survive.

[Voyager]

OOC: As I said earlier, put more, since there is only the three of us at the moment and I want to get the story moving a little faster.

IC:

"Let's hear it Quinn," said Dolan.  Dolan suddenly began to worry if Dr. Zimmerman dies in the program, after realizing that the Doctor wouldn't be transmitted via MIDAS array to cure him of his illness.  He also realized that the USS Voyager would take about 16 years longer to return to Earth than in the real world, assuming the ship doesn't meet up with the fleeing ships in a few years.  Unfortunately, unless the MIDAS array is rebuilt to transmit the lost ship a message of Starfleet's situation, Voyager is unlikely to know about the situation of the Dominion War from the last contact with them.

Dolan rubbed his forehead as a headache came on from all of the new information.

"So what does the Jupiter Station's message say?" Dolan asked, "And what do we have from the Mars Colony?"

[Julian]

[Alex Takio]

Sweat starts to trickle down Takio's face as the Breen ships continue to catch up.  Fingers move over the panel changing the course of the ship.

"Captain the 8472 ship is still following us but they're asking if they should hang back and defend our back."

Takio starts typing on his panel.

"I've just sent them a negative and that we have a plan and that they should fly ahead of me thought the nebular gas field coming up"
