Upon Voyager's return, Starfleet soon learned about all the dangers of the Delta Quadrant, and realized they might be facing more threats than just the Borg and the Dominion... In the dark space of the Delta Quadrant, nearest to Starfleet territory, much is going on. A region of space that was not explored by Voyager, has yet to offer many adventures... Here, species such as the Loxians, Torrans and Yzakians are not unknown, and a vast area of space is controlled by the Delta Alliance, a unity of alien civilisations not unlike the United Federation of Planets... But more appears to be going on here, that even these species know little about, when a new danger threathens the existence of the galaxy...
Beyond the borders of Federation space, where the Delta quadrant begins, a nebula has been discovered that blocks all communications and scanners. Beyond this vast nebula, Starfleet begins its deep space research. Admiral Vorak is put in charge of a whole fleet: one large station, and a fleet of ships, with a new task: exploring this area of space. But soon the Expansion Fleet discovers they are not alone, when they meet new life, both peaceful, and hostile... and a threat worse than the Dominion, the Borg, or Species 8472...

ABOUT EXPANSION FLEET
The text below contains an archive of the information that used to be on the website.
Who are we?
This game has been created in december 2001 by David Dom (Belgium), in the game respectively known as Flag Admiral Vorak.
What is this game about?
This game is basically a "roleplay game" or in short: RPG. The idea is for players to choose a certain "role" and act out this role. While many other RPG's are email-based, we provide you a number of forums where everyone can post on. That doesn't mean members of the game aren't allowed to email each other regarding the game, but your email inbox will remain nice and clean because most communications will be located on our boards. Every ship, station and department has its own boards and forums. For players who need to send each other a "private communiqué", there is also a messenger linked to the board, which you can use to send the other players a private message only he/she can read.
Requirements for the players
There are no real requirements what concerns the players of the game. You do NOT need to download any software at all, you are NOT required to have your own website in order to be able to join this game. All we ask, which is only logical, is that you post on the relevant board(s) on a regular base. It's not fun for anyone if everyone is going to post only once every two weeks, because then you don't really have an ongoing game and mission. That is why we ask players to post as regulary as possible, from once a day to at least 2 or 3 times a week. Of course, if there are certain periods you can't post that often because of school exams, holidays and so on, we understand and all we ask in that case is to inform us that you will not be able to post for awhile, and if possible an estimated date of your return.
How the game works
As you already know, its a forum-based game, not an email-based. So the idea is to check the relevant forums, topics and new messages on it, and respond there where necessary. Of course, you are to check the forum of the ship you are on. There is no use in checking posts in the forum of another ship you aren't stationed on, although the forums are all open to read for everyone (except the private admiral's forums). There are also "department forums" where you can post if you have a problem, such as the J.A.G., the admiral's HQ, off-duty lounge Ten Forward, and so on. Although we can't promise anything, we try to keep in mind which station on the ship you prefer. If you prefer "tactical", we will put you there instead of at the "science", if that function is still free. If not, you might be placed in another function, but that also means you will get the function you opted for, once it comes free on the ship you are on, or on another or new ship later on (but it will be your responsibility to keep your eyes open for such an event, and to request transfer at that moment).
Your rank always starts low, either ensign if you want to be on a ship right away, or cadet if you want to go into the academy first (those who choose to go into the academy first have a better chance of promotion later on). You can't get promoted by asking for a promotion, but only by deserving it. You can deserve promotions to a higher rank by posting on a regular base, putting inventive ideas in the story, and so on... The only ones who truly have the last word for who gets promoted and who won't, is admiral Vorak and admiral Montrell.
The main idea of the whole roleplay game is that nobody knows how it will continue. Everyone is entitled to put his/her own ideas in the plot, so nobody knows how the mission will turn out (as long as you don't kill another player or destroy a game ship). We ourselves will also not always know how the mission ends, although we will usually be the ones who will tell you how the mission begins. How exciting and interesting the missions might be, will depend for 90% on the players at hand.
EXPANSION FLEET REGULATIONS
These rules apply to EVERY member of Expansion Fleet, regardless the division, their position, rank or number of characters. Not following these rules and not paying heed to following warnings may get you banned. Please do read them carefully.
- Post on a regular basis (at least a few times a week)
- If you cannot post for a certain time (holidays, school exams, ...) please inform us so we are aware that you can't be present at the mission at hand
- If you have not posted for several weeks without informing us that you would not be posting, we have the right to remove and replace you
- Always stay in your role while you post. If you need to say anything outside your role, do it in an "OFF" message in your post or in the "OFF-messages" forum (keep OFF-messages in the mission topics to a minimum and stick to the subject at hand)
- Promotion to higher ranks cannot be gained by asking for it, but only by posting on a regular base and by showing inventivity
- Asking/begging for promotion is not allowed and may result in the opposite reaction
- The board is as it is, do not beg us to make new forums and new ships. We will do so when we decide it is necessary
- Sexual scenes are not allowed and are due to be deleted from the boards
- You never kill another person that is also a player in the game without his/her prior consent, nor destroy his/her ship
- Follow the chain of command
- Act the role you have chosen for, for example: if you choose to be Vulcan, don't act emotionally but act like Spock and Tuvok would, and so on...
- Never do something that is in direct violation with the Star Trek timeline, for example: don't blow up the Enterprise-E
- Never mix anything from other TV-series or movies, such as Star Wars and other
- It is prohibited to advertise/spam anywhere on the board in whatever possible form, as well as in the Expansion chatroom (be it either the topic, the main channel or in private message to the other users of the chatroom). Ignoring this rule in whatever way from this moment on, may and WILL get you BANNED.
