T'lana

T'lana got up from the console and walked with Morgan.

T'lana

Lieutenant Commander T'lana walked along the umbilical to the USS Rivendell along with Chief Engineer Morgan Freeman and his creation Larial.
After cycling the airlock and making their way off the umbilical and made their way to turbolift 15 and onto the Bridge.

T'lana moved to the main Science Console and logged in.

"Lieutenant Commander T'lana, Chief Engineer, reporting for duty as ordered Captain."

Holographic Officer Beta

Beta's holographic face formed into a smile. "Thank you, Captain." he said, moving towards tactical. He logged into the system and brought up the systems display.

"All weapons and shields are nominal Captain. Internal sensors report no intruders and tactical sensors are working at full capacity."

OOC: Yes, that is pretty close. In actual fact there is not much difference between Warp Drive - Compressing/expanding spacetime - and Wormhole Induction Propulsion - folding spacetime. Spacetime is curved and easy to manipulate, so when considering this and how Warp Drive and Jump Drive actually work, the Jump Drive is the next step up from the Warp Drive.

A Warp Drive creates a bubble of negative energy where the vessel is at rest. The bubble of negative energy causes spacetime around the vessel to "bend" - or warp - the compressed spacetime causes the ship to move (surf) through space at Faster Than Light speed. Spacetime expands behind the vessel as the influence of negative energy is no longer in effect.

The Jump Drive works in a similar fashion, but instead of generating a bubble of negative energy, you are directing a concentrated "beam" in front of the vessel to "fold" spacetime. Instead of compressing spacetime for propulsion you are actually folding spacetime bringing the destination to the ship.
In actual fact my Jump Drive is the real science version of the Coaxial Warp Drive seen in the Voyager episode Vis-A-Vis. The Coaxial Warp Drive, literally means two Warp Fields in Parallel to each other. The act of folding spacetime is what creates a wormhole.
This is what happens in STAR WARS and the retconned BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (retcon = Retroactive Continuity, the act of remaking a show in varying degrees, either partially or fully).

Taurik

(OFF: Basically, we're assuming that Star Wars and Star Trek have been occurring at the same time, but in different galaxies. Honestly, there's nothing to say it can't be true.)

Taurik took a few moments to go over the data on the PADD. "I see," he said. "Although the choice is ultimately up to you, it appears the chances of a return jump are quite slim. You are, of course, welcome to remain with us. The Federation prides itself on it's open acceptance of other races and cultures."

Larial

"Yes we've just met, hello Chaya and welcome to what humans call the Milkyway Galaxy, although I do not understand that reference."

Larial walked over to her father and looked at the formula displayed.

"Hmm interesting. Chaya Sar definitely has come along way then. As for how I feel, I am functioning within normal parameters thank you. The fuel molecules do look rather complex, I recognize Tritium and Ununpentium, but the other two I have not a clue."

Chaya Sar

Chaya Sar stood and bowed slightly. "As you wish Taurik." Smiling slightly, she made her way to the turbolift behind T'lana and stepped in with her.

To T'lana she asked, "I take it, Transporter, refers to a Quantum Teleportation device?"

T'lana

T'lana was about to set up level 10 security fields in every section of every deck, but knew it was useless. The Borg always showed an unerring ability to walk through, beam through, or fire weapons through; any shield or field set up to try and block them.

So T'lana decided to try another approach. Chaya Sar was obviously a powerful being and at the moment was their best defense against the Borg.

T'lana walked up to Chaya. "To answer your question, these beings are the Borg, a collective of various assimilated species connected to a Hive Mind. They think as one, act as one and will forcibly assimilate any being not apart of the collective. The Borg are Cybernetic-Organic beings with highly advanced Type III technology and will not stop until they achieve their version of perfection."

T'lana continued...

"You are our best hope for survival, will you help us? Do not let them touch you though, because they use nanobots injected via multi-phased tubules for the first stage of assimilation."

Orpheus

Several assorted Federation starships dropped out of warp close to the Rivendell. They almost immediately opened fire on the Borg sphere.

The Rivendell rocked slightly. "Commander," Orpheus said, "the Borg ship has lost it's tractor beam on us. Shall we begin combat maneuvers?"

"For that very reason Orpheus." T'lana stated matter-of-factly.
T'lana thought for a second, "But you are correct, this is taking too long."

"Mr. Givrilian, transfer tactical to helm and initiate separation sequence. Charge Phaser banks and load Quantum Torpedoes, engage the Borg Sphere."

Morgan Freeman

Morgan sat at the master engineering station awaiting the arrival of the operations officer and reviewing the latest batch of diagnostic tests from the new systems.  The Rivendell's trimode warp core had ended up being replaced on orders of Starfleet engineering, which put his repair schedule off about one day.  The engineering crew had done a remarkable job at actually getting the new core installed with Morgan taking his usual position at the bottom of the core chamber.  It was a tradition of his to get acquainted with a new core by attaching all the leads himself, which should have been the job of an ensign but he insisted of doing it.

The new core had a few problems with it that seriously bothered Morgan.  The thing that bothered him the most was the fact that in all of the his diagnostics there was a 8.5% drop in power output from the core at the moment the drive system was engaged.   He was engaged in trying to figure out when when he barely noticed the arrival of the XO in the room.  Seeing her he motioned for her to come over to the master terminal where he could show her the test results.  It was always good to have a vulcan's perspective on matters even when they had no sense of humor.

Taurik

"It is most definitely agreeable to be back," Taurik said, almost trying to shake the ambiance of the Borg vessel away. "I'll expect a full report in the morning. For now," he said, taking his seat eagerly, "set a course for Federation territory and engage at... however you got here."

It was evident that Taurik was still a little confused as to how the Rivendell crossed the galaxy in such a short amount of time.

Taurik

"Impressive, Commander. Send your final data to my ready room, and I will submit the idea to the Daystrom Institute immediately. If they approve the idea, we can begin construction of a prototype."

Taurik tapped his communicator. "All senior staff," he said, "please meet in the mess hall at 1800 hours."

With that, Taurik walked out of Main Engineering, headed for his ready room.

T'lana

T'lana stood and walked over to Captain Taurik, she couldn't help but be more proud to be a member of this fine crew.

"Thank you Captain, I will endeavor to continue to serve you and this crew to the best of my ability. I am honored to be considered your friend and it would be agreeable to accept the position as Executive Officer."

T'lana raised her hand in the Vulcan salute and stated, first in Vuhlkansu then in English, what Vulcans are best known for apart from their logic and reason.

"Mene Sakkhet Ur-Seveh. Live long and prosper."

Morgan Freeman

"Lets head to the engineering lab and run a few tests. I wonder if there is a way to fix the bleed off problem by blocking the connection to the core from the Jump drive until we need it.  Any suggestions?"  Morgan walked with the XO towards the engineering lab
