Having seen what I've seen since this battle started, I'd agree with you. But...where there is life, there is hope. We might be able to figure out a way to beat these guys just yet. You never know.

Meantime, what's your status? Our repairs are proceeding pretty well, but we lost our warp core during the fight. That's going to be hard to replace. Also, we still don't have contact with the Skytoucher. Have you heard from her?

The Evolution nimbly ducks around the crippled Skytoucher, and 3 phaser beams streak towards the lead Loxian destroyer in rapid succession, causing the Loxian shields to glow.

"Sir, we are never going to be able to put out enough firepower to deal with this fleet. The lead ship's shields are only down to 93%."

"We've got 6 torpedoes left, and I have 2 ready to fire, Commander."

Jackson moves to the captain's chair.

Hmmm. We need to find a way to warn Starphoenix base.

Not a word from the Skytoucher yet. From what I can see, they are low on energy supplies and many of their systems are still down. But from my sensor reading, it seems they're doing a good and quick job at getting primary systems back online.
As for your warp core, is there any way to solve that problem?
