*turns to the Captain*

Captain, our ETA is now 15 minutes and the nav sensors show one reading that might be a ship, near the fluidic gate. Perhaps Mr. Brooks can give you further detail with the tactical sensors.

*some seconds later the console beeps*

I am getting another reading now. Many widely spread readings, in fact. It is logical to assume, using the data Mr. Lagos provided, that it is the debris of a ship.

The remnant warp signature of the debris is rather difficult to identify, but the computer has narrowed down the possibilities to a Loxian, Thalaxian or Cardassian vessel. Once more, Mr. Brooks or Mr. Lagos might give you further details.

Captain, might I ask what is Loxian? The computer has data about it's warp signatures, but I am not familiar with that term.

The doors of the turbolift slide open, revealing the bridge before Neelix's eyes, and he walks inside.

"You asked for me captain? Sorry it took me so long, I was just helping the cook at your messhall how to make Plomeek soup! So, how can I help..." then he sees the viewscreen, the debris and in the far distance the fluidic gate.
"Uh oh... that's no good. Loxians... I know them too, very dangerous. And when a Loxian ship is destroyed, others always return to avenge the death.
Also, captain, you don't see any activity of Species 8472 right now, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. You'll see, as soon as Loxians arrive here, Species 8472 will come out of nowhere and you'll be finding yourself in the middle of a battle!"

At that moment, the panel of Mr. Dalon beeps to indicate the Loxian ship has arrived and is dropping out of warp.

[Zephram Lagos]

Very Good Lieutenant. Are you ready also mr Brooks?

[Silm Stuart]

"Aye Sir..."

*Takes his position at the ops station*

"Sir, damage is repairable, though there is a hole in the port side of the ship, repair crews have been alerted to it"

Silm couldn't believe the damage that the Evolution had taken, though she seemed to be in one piece. He had never seen Nelix before and was amused that the tales he had heard were... rather true. He smiled as he monitored the ships status.

[Dalon]

Sir, it appears that the "planets" are moving. The sensors are detecting a massive gravity well going into warp. If they maintain their present course and heading, then it is logical to assume that they are going to the Corporation.

Thank you Keilah... as for Marou you properly have the most experience in that field so far since I know nothing of Loxian science, I will start to review the medical logs so I can get up to date.

"Interesting indeed Keilah, I haven't been in this quadrant before so my knowledge of this is very limited. Keilah I want you to look into this and provide me with an answer so I can report to the captain, Ill have a look at the other wounded."

"Lieutenant Brooks please start the modications on the weapons and defence systems. I will be with you in no time to make the necessary modifications on the main deflector dish."

*leaves the shuttle bay, and goes to the Captain´s ready room, passing in the bridge*

"So, this is the bridge..."

*Waits in the ready room door until have permition to enter*

"Captain Sanchez, I am here as ordered to inform you of our plans. Sir, our attempt is to use the main deflector dish to create a subspace distortion that would enhance our shields capabilitys and might boost our weapons, if used against the Species 8472. I thought we would need more time, but Lieutenant Brooks is already performing to modify the weapons and shields, and I am on my way to modify the main deflector to emit the distortions. If we start now, I belive we would be ready within the hour."

[Dalon]

*three hours later*

Captain, I believe that me and Mr. Brooks are fit for most hostile encounters now, sir. Ou rate of survival was of 86.3% if we face just one ship and 68.3% if we face more ships. This clearly indicates that should we engage more than one ship, we should escape imediately and ask for reinforcements, though, as Lt. Commander Lagos said earlier, we may not need to fight them.

Also, the data provided by the simulations helped Mr. Lagos improving and correcting his calculations and adjusts for the shields and engines.

Should I sotp the simulation or continue with it, sir?

Captain, this may have just gotten worse. Dalon says that signature may be Loxian! I suggest Red Alert!

Sir, I believe the only part of the computer core that is still intact is the emergency data recorder, that seems to have been ejected from the ship before it's explosion. We still have time to beam it aboard and try to shut down it's beacon.

The Loxians are now 5 minutes away, sir.
