*loud booms, the bridge shakes heavily, some crewmen are thrown from their places as consoles explode. a huge ship of species 8472 dominates the viewscreen, firing at the Evolution. the air is thick with smoke and tubes hang from the ceiling*

I don't think we can take much more, Captain! Trying the Picard maneuvre again!

*strange beeps*

Warp engines offline! We only have impulse...

We have too many injured, sir! The EMH has gone offline and *loud explosion and the link is cut*

*the Captain shakes his head, pale*

- Mr. Lagos, transfer as much power as you can to shields and engines!

*another ship appears on the screen, and starts to fire as well*

- Captain, I can't give you any more power... If we push the Evolution further she's gonna blow!

*the Captain yells, trying to overcome the noise of the alerts*

- Mr. Dalon! Evasive maneuvres!

Aye sir, evasive pattern delta.

*bridge shakes*

*the Captain, heavily injured says*

- Ramming speed Mr. Dalon. Go get the big one! Mr. Brooks, try a last volley of the altered torpedoes. Rotate shields again!

*Lt. Brooks taps his console as fast as he can*

*Sanchez pushes a button on his chair's arm*

All non essential crew, abandon ship! I repeat, abandon ship!

*Commander Smith turns to Sanchez*

It was nice serving with you, sir. Let's give them a tough fight before they get us!

*more consoles blow, the whole ship shakes*

Warning, inertial dampeners offline

Captain, it is logical to assume we will not survive an acceleration without inertial dampeners. I am setting the computer to ram them automatically...
Captain?

*looks back and sees Captain Sanchez with a deep cut on his forehead, unconscious*

*the ships on screen come closer and closer. the proximity alert starts sounding. Dalon passes out.*

Ship destroyed. Restarting simulation

*a new bridge and crew appear*

*whipes his forehead and looks to Lt. Brooks*

Our performance was below the expected levels. This time I suggest we try staying farther. If we become too crippled, but still with warp capacity,it would be logical to escape and call for reinforcements.

What was your evaluation of the performance of your modifications, Mr. Lagos? Can we do anything to improve our efficiency?

The term fleet would be incorrect, sir. I am detecting only five other ships heading to this system, though others may be hiding on the asteroid fields nearby.

We may consider the possibility that the Loxians are simply bluffing. It would be illogical to move a large fleet into enemy territory when one has no information about it's defenses, even for a territorial and emotional specias as the Loxians.

It would be logical to familiarize myself with this starship so I will be fully capable to respond should an emergency situation arise.

*keeps looking to his tricorder in silence, for several moments after someone appered, than looks at the person*

"Come in Lieutenant. I requested a tactical officer to help me anylise the damage Species 8472 weapons caused on Neelix´s ship. So far I came with almost nothing diffrent than the data Voyager already provided. The problem is, they had how to create borg nano implants in the photon torpedoes as a weapon, witch we can not do. The only thing I realized is that their wepons might cause a subspace distortion, and if we could find the frequency of that distortion we might set our shields to compensate in the same frequency, making than much more efficient.  What do you think Lieutenant?"

"Mister Dalon, those modifications are already taking too much energy. But I never said it would be eficient against an entire fleet of species 8472. Try less enemy ships, and new stretegy, because with the data we have avaiable there is not much I can do to improve efficiency. However the information provided by the simulation will increase both shields and engines responce. But, if you are going to use the Picard maneuvre more than twice you will blow my engines anyway! And if you don´t mind me saying, out of the record, it was a quite emotional simulation for a vulcan, Lieutenant!"

Captain, the Loxian ship is dropping out of warp. They are within weapons' range, bearing 256.8 mark 34.

Apperantly it is a territorial struggle. The Loxians detected the presence of alien activity in this system that they consider theirs. A Loxian ship was sent to attack the invaders and was destroyed (the debris we found). This one was crippled by a Species 8472 probe. They are saying some insults to one another. Sir, the Loxian Ship has just threated Species 8472, saying that a fleet of ships are being moved to this systems to defend it. Mr Dalon, does long range navegational sensors confirm this?
