I highly doubt such a tactic would be taken, The Federation would come after us first of all, And I do not think the Loxian government would want to deal with the consequences of capturing us or destroying us.  Of course I am a retired Starfleet officer and just a diplomat these days so what do I know?

Niles quickly goes back to his seat on the Bridge and begins to think about these upcoming peace talks

I have been analyzing possible threats in this area and I think that the Skytoucher is in danger here. Since we are so close to the asteroid we are primed for trouble. There is an 80% chance that we could be over-run, and boarded, I also believe that this "asylum" is just a cover for there possible take-over. If not someone prove me wrong

*takes a look around to the crew*

"Aye, I know you are only a security officer, and I wouldn't ask you to help us all on your own. But perhaps you can talk to your superiors? Explain them our situation? I tell you, the Loxian government has set a trap. Because if I don't return soon, more of my ships will be coming to look for me, and find themselves surrounded by their lethal enemy. The government intends to exterminate us, one way or another. First they exile us, and they they make it a sport to hunt us down. I promise you, soon more Loxian government ships will arrive here, and if not me and my own people, it will be you who will be lucky to make it out of here alive again."
