I know that this ship isn't a war vessel, but we can't leave them hanging here waiting until their enemy comes back for the final deadly strike. If the Cardassian government found out we didn't do anything to help them, they would make us look like cowards.
But I mainly want to help them with repairs on their ship, so they themselves are ready for another attack also, and if that enemy comes back, we won't be alone at least to fight them off.

Captain I disagree with Lt.cmdr. Odo I think the only way we're ever going to make peace with 8472 is if we talk to them and if this is the way to there home i think we should try.

Sir, the fluxuation has gone, it's now over what appears to be their sensor array, and moving in a logical pattern.

Maybe it could be designed like that, for negotiation through the asteroid belts
