Mission 9: The Evolution's Flight

Baphomet looked at her station, wondering why they would use such a well known decoy technique.

"Captain, they are attempting an old method of masking their escape, intiating Quantum Resonance Scan."

Baphomet continued......

"A Quantum Resonance Scan will weed out the fake signatures and reveal the proper one.
This is due to the comparitive difference between the quantum signature of a Starfleet vessel and subspace."

Baphomet had finished the sensor sweep a couple of minutes later, then reported to the Captain.

"The real Evolution is on a heading 224 mark 6."

*On the Rivendell's bridge the computer beeped as thousand Evolution decoys popped up on there sensors heading in different directions and supposedly exiting warp, while some was back tracking, but in the mess the real Evolution continued on there journey*

Lt. Commander Baphomet, Chief Science Officer of the USS Rivendell, notices that a Subspace hail went out from the USS Evolution to a small group of rebel vessels and reported the call.

"Commander, the Evolution is hailing a nearby group of Loxian rebels."

[Baphomet]

"Acknowledged Commander."

Baphomet configures the computer for MVA.

"All systems ready."

The Tactical alert klaxon sounds throughout the entire vessel.

"All hands Battle stations, I repeat all hands Battle stations."

[Orpheus]

The disembodied voice of the ship's AI speaks on the bridge.

"Welcome, crewman. My rosters show you have been assigned as helmsman to the U.S.S. Rivendell. Well then, Crewman, take your station."

"Captain, incoming transmission from the USS Evolution."

Baphomet put the transmission onto the main viewer...

Captain Taurik, my old friend, it is good to see you again, allbeit not in the best circumstances this time. We have worked together for a long time, and I think you know me quite well. Do you think I would do what I am doing now, if it weren't for a really damn good reason? I know you have your Starfleet order, and I understand you need to follow them, but for the sake of our old friendship, could you listen to my story first before you take any action?

"Captain, sensors indicate that the Evolution's reactor core is giving off neutrino radiation that is hiigher than the normal levels for that type of reactor."

Baphomet turned to face Captain Taurik, calmly waiting for further orders.

[Baphomet]

"Commander, I have come up with a possible strategy to getting the prisoners out of the stockades.
Naturally the cells are shielded against transport, but with all of us working together we will succeed, but if we all have our different agendas we will surely fail.
Captain Sanchez will no doubt be determined to take a shuttle down to the planet, so with that in mind could follow him in my shuttle cloaked.
When he has safely landed in a secure location, I would then decloak my shuttle and use the Meson canons to cripple any defences.
As we do this, the Rivendell and the Evolution can maintain straifing runs against the Loxian vessels up here.
Once the shield is down the Rivendell can commence mass beaming of the prisoners and the Evolution crew if need be, sir."

[Baphomet]

Baphomet had noticed the young Loxian woman walking around the Birdge and intercepted her.

"Can I be of assistance miss? Are you lost at all."

[Taurik]

Taurik presses a button, opening visual communications with the Evolution.

"This is Captain Taurik. You are to disable your engines immediately, and your command staff is to be transferred to the Rivendell. We will be taking you back to Starbase Avalon to be held accountable for your crimes."

[Baphomet]

"Captain, sensors indicate we are 20 minutes away from the Evolution and closing in, we need to make a decision now sir."

"Aye Commander, initiating launch sequence."

**Vulcan Shuttle Kelata**

Baphomet cycled the shuttle bay doors and launched out of the USS Rivendell to take up position and match velocity with the USS Evolution.

She activated the Ablative Armor Generator and was ready to cloak at a moments notice.

"Captain Sanchez, I am ready and waiting, sir."

[Orpheus]

"Commander Freeman, we will be unable to safely transport anyone until the space battle has ceased."

(OFF: And that's the third time I've said it. You transport, you're dead. You have to lower your shields to do so.)

[Taurik]

"Taurik to Rivendell. Six to beam directly to sickbay."

The six people still left on Loxius Prime materialize in Sickbay. Included are Captains Taurik and Sanchez, General Zayan and her child, as well as Lieutenant Travis and a Loxian civilian, Zaphan.
