He worked quickly at the tactical station to divert the power. "Forward sheilds at full power, port and starboard sheilds now at 5% Captain, they are vulnerable to a single shot, sir".

"Aye, Sir". He began examining the weapons readings and divert more power. "Type ten phasers charged..diverting power from the warp core now that we are at impulse, my estimations for the type ten phasers would be a 3% drop in thier shielding per shot, while the shots are effective, and considering they can reconstruct themselves quickly. Type nine phaser banks are powered and ready for secondary shots, sir"

[Will Matthews]

"Aye sir, I have transferred all weapons systems power to engineering to aid, Commander. Now sending a priority two distress call, sir".
He spoke to the transmission.
"This is the USS Rivendell, We are stranded without warp power. We have major casualties, repeat, we are stranded without warp power at the former location of Deep Space Twelve".

Taurik raises his eyebrow. "I have never understood the human need for titles. However, I have no reason to deny your request."

Taurik goes to his ready room for a moment, and returns with a small golden pin in a box. He hands the box to Matthews. "I hope you don't mind if we forego the ceremonials in my office, Ensign?"

Thank you Ensign for your help. What can we hope for on the shields. Mr. Mathews. Ah.......(As he watches, Captain Taurik gives the orders to Mr. Mathews for weapon's check and the diverting of power being done from the warp core.)

Captain, I am ready to help with Mr. Mathews should you need. From the readings I get from Mr. Mathews. His logic is quite sound from where he diverted his power from. Shields are at near full capacity. (Hearing the incoming transmission) Shields are UP. Captain......................................Continue your good work. Continue what you were doing.......  Ensign........Weapons being loaded as we speak!!(He hurries back to the tactical station and sets the weapons on targeting the cube) Ready to fire on command. Captain.

Now Captain and Commander if I may return to my station. I need to make SURE that I STILL have control over the tactical system and no more hidden surprises are online. I also want to make sure diagnostics are on the weapon systems. I did not like anyone near those weapons except ME. Ooopss. Sorry about that. I am a still slightly miffed over that little takeover attempt. tsk tsk...........

Matthews was dazed and felt blisters on his neck and face. The burst of flame was so fleeting that it did not do the damage he had thought as he ran his hand over his face, flinching as he hit some of the bad burns.
"Captain! Did it work, sir?" He called out in the loudest voice he could gather as the medics rushed around him.

[Will Matthews]

"Commander, we are receiving a distress call from Starbase Twelve. They only have a day left sir, and are requesting assistance for evacuation".

[Taurik]

"No, using the catapult is too dangerous. Not when the Alliance has control of them."

Taurik responds to the new ships. "Mr. Tash, I thank you for your timely intervention."

[Will Karelia]

A large cubical vessel approached Deep Space Twelve at transwarp. All of a sudden, comm channels were alive with activity.

"Lieutenant, set phasers on a rotating frequency..."

"Target the Borg cube and stand by..."

"Rivendell, fall back to support position one..."

"Karelia to the fleet. We have it in visual range, a Borg cube on course zero, mark two-one-five. Speed, warp nine-point--"

And then the chilling, collective voice plays through on all vessels:

"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."

With that, the comm channel fell a deadly silent. One voice then pierced the silence with a single word:

"Fire."

IC: ~Actually Commander, I do believe that Captain Taurik is associated with the Fal-Tor-Pan Ritual perhaps if we pick up my body from O'Neill, he could perform it for us~
