Okies i got the Jedi part from T'lana like i said i am new and i don't understand how this works meaning ppl decide for themselves what to do and the outcome and the like or there are some bases? Also what am i supposed to do like i told T'lana i volunteered for a tactical/security with dreams of one day having my own command and Starfleet sent me as security officer here. So where am i stationed? Who is my direct superior and the likes?

YAY i'm under the control of a hologram... not that i have anything personal to photonic beings http://www.expansionfleet.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> Also it might be just my impression but are ppl allowed to register more then one character here? http://www.expansionfleet.com/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

OOC: Err for future reference. I know I am being pedantic, but it's just how I see it in my minds eye. The Jump Drive works exactly the same way the FTL Drive does in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, seeing as it works on the same principle: "Folding spacetime to generate a wormhole", a popular theory among real life physicists. The other popular FTL theory among real life physicists is the Warp Drive.

I always prefered the Galactica, it seemed more realistic.

So does that mean that where ever we jump we won't be traceable in any way? Also would it also mean that the jumps would be faster than warp drives?

Just a small thing; turbolasers are the weapons mounted on capital warships, and are huge turret-like things. A space superiority starfighter would have Heavy Lasers

don't mean to seem rude as i see you ppl have played for years and i'm just a noob but should it be more organized  like where is the ship curently? Who's on the bridge? Who's in charge of the bridge? Can i stumble on the cloak in my security rounds and arrest all of you?  *joking only* /OFF

You can do just about anything, but remember that the same consequences will apply to you as they would to an NPC, and you'll get locked in your quarters.

Basically, we'll be heading to a planet called Hera, the homeworld of our most current deadly enemy, the Heraan. We're tasked to steal a Heraani datacore from their planet, and the cloaking device is the only way we'll ever make it there alive. Also, we're to recover two Jedi Knights, allies of our current Jedi companion, Chaya Sar.

I can imagine you're curious why there are Jedi Knights in Star Trek. Suffice it to say that the "galaxy far, far away" is in fact one of the neighboring galaxies to the Milky Way, and a hyperspace accident brought them here.

T'lana

Oh sorry, that is something I meant to tell you but forgot, my bad.

Your direct superior officer is Lieutenant Junior grade, Holographic Officer Beta.

T'lana

Yes.

Once you have spent about three to six months here, it is possible to make another character. The total amount of characters per user is five.

T'lana

Yes to both questions.

My Jump Drive, like in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, has a maximum limit, in this case 20 light years.

The Jump Drive uses exotic matter (negative energy potential) to fold the spacetime continuum. The resulting fold is what generates the wormhole, the exotic matter then holds the tunnel open, allowing the vessel to cross. Wormhole Travel is near instantaneous and has no real limit. Meaning you can cross universes, time travel and go to any dimension etc.

Two factors lead to my decision to give the Jump Drive a twenty light year limit. The energy potential of an antimatter/matter reactor and navigation - in this case, how far you can scan.
The Star Wars Hyperdrive actually works on the same principle, they are just better at it and can jump greater distances due to the Navicomputer, which calculates the jump with a built in stellar cartography (Starmaps) and calculating for stellar drift etc.

Star Trek actually has it wrong to what a wormhole is, they are not naturally occurring, except on the quantum level.
If you want a Jump Drive for your ship, the best thing to do would be to contact T'lana via subspace. She will gladly send you the designs and specifications of the Jump Drive, along with it's Operating System.

Even though the Jump Drive connects directly to the existing propulsion systems, which also allows for the Warp Drive to still be used, there are a few draw-backs:

1. The initial spin up of the Jump Drive takes two (quick spin) to six (safe spin) minutes.
2. After each jump, there must be a cool down period of two minutes.
3. Twenty light year limit, each jump.
4. The resulting electromagnetic pulse will destroy the electronics of friendly vessels within 500 meters of the jump-point.

The benefits:

1. Near instantaneous faster-than-light travel. (3.26 seconds)
2. Nothing can stop a jump, short of a complete Warp Core shut down.
3. The jump is not limited by the location of the jumping vessel. (Meaning that the vessel can be enclosed in a space dock, tractor beam, in an atmosphere, at rest, etc. and still jump.)
4. The resulting electromagnetic pulse will destroy the electronics of enemy vessels within 500 meters of the jump-point.
